I just recently downloaded the Ambient Occlusion theme and I haven't messed around with themes much but I really like how this one looks. Anyways, I moved Custom Menu.ini file into my GameEx CONFIG folder and emulators are showing that I don't have set up and some aren't showing. I know I have to set them up in the Custom Menu.ini but I am clueless lol would any of you be willing to set my menu back up for me? Ive attached my inis let me know if anything else is needed. Controller issues with emulators that don't have Xinput
uberpubert69 replied to uberpubert69's topic in General
Alright so I unplugged the adapter from my computer and my emulators are reconfigured and working. All except SSF. I really hate this emulator. Not only does it NOT save my controller settings and makes me redo them every time I reload the exe, but the damn emulator wont go fullscreen. I hit alt+enter but the game is stretched wide and im left with ugly black borders all around. and Ive messed with like every setting. -
Controller issues with emulators that don't have Xinput

Now that you mention it. I believe you're right. I just remember that when I try to play a PC game when the Twin USB Adapter is plugged in, my 360 controller is unresponsive or acts extremely weird (down is right and right is up etc.). That kinda sucks lol. I'm afraid to unplug it at this point because if doing so does indeed change the IDs again I'm going to have to reconfigure basically all my emulators controller settings all over again. I swear if its not one thing its another haha. -
Controller issues with emulators that don't have Xinput

Strange. I installed the program and it tells me that my 360 controller (both have different names) the one that I use as 1st player is joy #1 but my emulators say Joy3 still.... I'm at a loss at what to do now lol. -
Controller issues with emulators that don't have Xinput

Yeah I have 2 360 controllers and I have a "twin USB Adapter" that lets me plug PS1/PS2 controllers into it. Thats pretty strange because I amost never shut off my computer, but I'll give that JoyIDs program a go and see how that works. -
For emulators like NullDC and Project 64 and PPSSPP they have Xinput support so when I use my 360 controllers the controls are always good to go and most of the time are already preconfigured. My problem is with emulators like SSF, SNES9x, ePSXe, Fusion, and others that only have Dinput. I can go and set up my controls just fine and the emulator will work nice until I restart the emulaor and I'm pretty sure its because my controller keeps changing from Joy1 to Joy3 or Joy2 and I have to redo the controls because the first time I set them up they say Joy1 and when I restart my controller is Joy2 which obviously wont work if the controls are set for Joy1. Why the hell is my controller constantly changing? I never unplug my controllers or anything so what gives?

Yeah, I figured lol. I mean I'm definitely used to tedious work getting emulators to work at their very best. MAME has just been one of those emulators I've never messed with beacause it was so intimidating compared to how other emulators work. But since I got a 1.5TB External HDD for Christmas I've been "Pimpin" my computer up haha. and it most definitely isn't easy. I guess you can mark my topic as resolved now I'd do it myself if I could find the edit button. I really appreciate the help from everyone, I'll most likely need more help in the future with other things lol. You're all awesome!

Like I said I really don't want to configure my controls every time I play a new game. What I was saying is MAME already has tons of buttons already mapped using my 360 controls like joy1 and joy2, and the controls aren't configured properly. Anyways I ended up deleting every single button setting and did everything fresh. Was kinda annoying. Not to mention I have no clue what some of the controls even mean lol
-
I really don't want to. the controls for my 360 controller are already mapped all over the place by default and its screwing me over. I got the same buttons doing too many differnet things. If there weren't any controls set already I'd be more willing to go through all that.
-
Alright so all is well now! Attract mode is attractive now lol. Now I just need to get my 360 controllers set up so I can actually play some game. Does anyone else here use 360 controllers to play their MAME games? Could I just take someones config and overwrite mine? or do I have to manually set up each button and direction myself?
-
It appears I've been successful in compiling the source code. I also found an unofficial build that I added the source of and all seems to be working well. Just have to add it to my GameEx configurations and toss out the old MAME. Will confirm everything is working after I play around with it for a little bit. After that I could use some help with setting up my 360 controllers to play most of the MAME games.

Thank god for automated builders. This is going to take some time since this thing needs mingw and the dl speed is really slow for some reason... From the instructions though it seems pretty easy. I cant download the MAME source though I'm getting a 509 bandwidth limit exceeded when I click the dl link?
-
Well I was not aware of the taboo so it would seem compiling my own MAME is my only choice. I know very basic command line stuff lol. I will google mame compiler 64 as you suggested. I was hoping there would be an automated builder of sorts. I used to have to compile DaedalusX64 back when I was helping with ROM testing, then they released an autobuilder.. Its been a long time since then though so I basically remember nothing about the proccess. I'll get back to you guys when I figure this stuff out.
-
compiling stuff just brings back bad memories for me lol. Isn't there a place that would have a version of mame that got rid of the messages and is already compiled? and I'm not quite sure I follow. Where would I be entering this <mame.exe> -cc command at?
-
So I'd like to think I've looked around quite a bit for others who might have had the same question as me and what I've found doesn't help me at all. 1. How can I get rid of those stupid MAME messages that doesn't involve what seems to be the useless option under the advanced mame settings and without having to compile some source code? It literally makes the screensaver attract mode useless to have on. 2. Is there a config for wired X360 controllers so I can play most of my MAME ROMs without having to configure the controls for each game? (I am aware of the general control settings in mame but I cannot even get to that menu now because my controls are so F**ed) I'm most grateful for any help because the way things are for me I can only look at my MAME games and barely because of the on screen messages screwing with my attract mode.

Turbo Grafx 16 game list wont show the right games
uberpubert69 replied to uberpubert69's topic in General
omg thank you for pointing that stuff out to me. I have no Idea why I had double \ in my paths they didnt show up like that in the configurator. and at no point did I make a MAP file for any of my emulators so maybe it was automatically created? In either case I can choose my games and play them now! I appreciate the help Adultery and Tempest! -
Turbo Grafx 16 game list wont show the right games
uberpubert69 replied to uberpubert69's topic in General
Pretty sure I'm not using a map file. Here ya go GameEx.ini -
I had a handful of TG16 roms in my rom folder for a while until I got my goodset. and I deleted the old ROMs and put my new ROMs in the same folder. Now when I load GameEx the old games still show up, and ONLY the old games, and when I click on them I cannot play any of them. I deleted the emulator from GameEx and did a "fresh" configuration and the old games still show up. How to I get my new ROMs to show up?????????? and YES I have the right ROM path specified and I've checked and double checked my settings. If I absolutely must I'll upload whatever settings inis that are requested. I would appreciate the assistance. EDIT: I've tried deteling every cache for every emulator in my Gameex/data folder and the same 90 games show up when I have 400 that should be showing in my TG16 list!

It already seemed worth it to me just to support an awesome piece of software like GameEx anyways, I was just wondering how people felt about it. The auto video game snaps alone will help so much. Plus I've been avoiding adding some emulators because I have many goodmerge zips

I've been using GameEx for a few years now on and off, and have been thinking about registering recently. I would like to hear the communities opinion on how much better the experience is with registering, if its worth registering for, etc. I've got about 10,000 games most of which is a mame fullset. I got a few emulators that I have to keep reconfiguring controls for and was wondering if theres something the registered version does that makes using it less tedious, and stuff like per game settings (probably not I assume). I appreciate your input. BTW yes I've read the list of features the registered version brings but I like hearing opinions from people with first hand experience with the registered version.

I just ended up renaming all my isos manually. Didn't see your post until after. I will use maps from now on though when I need to. I really appreciate everybodys help!
-
I used clrmamepro with a gamecube dat from redump. The only disc img that was renamed was Super Smash Brothers Melee. I figured what Nullpointer said would happen because the files themselves are all disc.iso for my gamecube backups and my Wii backups are named after their internal name like GAFE01.wbfs. Another reason I dont wish to rename the ISOs themselves is because my Wii cant play them unless game.iso is their name. The Wii backups dont require their names to be the way they are though so I sshould be able to just rename them. I use my External HDD both for my PC and Wii .
-
lol it was really late and I wasn't comprehending what you were saying. But I do now. I'll let you know how things turn up. Thats crazy. No I don't have an emumovies account. I've gotten every video from there downloading 1 by 1 and like 20 videos a day was my limit. I actually had to take .xmv previews for the Xbox I found on a FTP server and convert them to MP4 for my mame collection and I'm still missing a bit of videos still.
-
Sounds a bit complex. Just looked up a GameCube and Wii iso renaming utility and only found some command line stuff. I guess I'll just rename my ISOs manually if GameEx doesnt have anything in the settings that can help.

I hope you are wrong because thats a lot of files to rename. :/
