  1. All of those ought to work as long as you put in a little time setting them up. Some may be awkward but problems can be fixed once you're familiar with a few tricks in advanced configuration. PC Games are easy to use if you point GameEx to a folder with .bat or .lnk files. I've seen some of those PC games being played on the GameEx Live page. Try setting up an emulator or 2 in the nag version. See how you get on.

    Major Issue!!

Crikey, I'm backing up my gameex folder right now, if it can happen to Tempest, it can happen to anyone
  3. If you are using the advanced config editor, and have saved your own custom config, make sure that the correct file is selected in the pull down menu next to the button that says Edit. It has caught me out a few times, because it doesn't refresh until you move away from that page and come back. I put my name in my advanced configs and use those instead of the standard ones, in case a GameEx update rewrites the standard advanced configs. Not sure if that makes sense, or if it'll help. Hope so.
  4. Mean machines was a great mag in the 16 bit era. http://www.meanmachinesmag.co.uk/
  5. Untick "map escape" while you're at it... Fusion uses that for toggling fullscreen. It's well annoying.
  6. I know what you mean SKIDLID. You must force yourself to play some favourite classics to remind yourself why you're doing this. GameEx is my favourite software on the PC - partly because you can make it your own. That's the trouble, when do you take a break and have some fun?
  7. I too am no expert so I use GIMP, it's like photoshop, but free http://www.gimp.org/
  8. Fantastic, this will be very useful to a lot of people
  9. By the way, if you have set it to merged sets, you won't see a "Play This Game", but a choice of ROMs instead.
  10. A quick check in the forum history shows that the problem might lie with a bad or old version of MAME. You could back up your mame.exe and try the latest binary http://mamedev.org/release.html . I can highly recommend compiling your own version with this app http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=4375 which enables high score saving among other things. Other than that, make sure there's nothing wacky in configuration / advanced MAME settings.
  11. Do you have this problem if you set your tube TV to display as a clone of the primary display? Because each emulator that you use may need to be set to run on the secondary display, not just the GameEx frontend. You'll probably have to stay at 1024x768 or lower resolutions for the old TV.
  12. To anyone that has a problem like this... I've worked out why one game wasn't showing up in winuaeloader (and therefore gameex), I really wanted to play it (even tho I have it in my real amiga... but thats in the bedroom, knowmsayn . Check the WinUAELoader\Data\WHDLoad.xml file for mismatches with the file in your WHDLoad games folder, in my case it was just a single digit causing all the problems - not a typo from headkaze (who rules, btw), but a more recent update from the WHDLoad team. I used Wordpad. In my case the line: <Game Name="Slam Tilt - The Pinball Game (AGA)" FileName="WHDLoad\SlamTilt_v3.4_AGA_1151.zip" ScrnshotFilename="S/Slam_Tilt_-_The_Pinball_Game_(AGA).png"ETC ETC needed to be changed to: <Game Name="Slam Tilt - The Pinball Game (AGA)" FileName="WHDLoad\SlamTilt_v3.5_AGA_1151.zip" ScrnshotFilename="S/Slam_Tilt_-_The_Pinball_Game_(AGA).png"AND SO ON AND SO FORTH So if one of your favorites goes missing, that's worth checking.
  13. in your GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS might be the file SendKeys.htm Going on that it may be (DELAY=50)(% 2) Correct me if I'm an idiot I find the speed and glorious POKEY sound is best when using Altirra
  14. thanks for clearing that up.
  15. Hmm, google shows nothing for ppc2joy (besides this thread) The x-arcade behaving like a keyboard is ok for console emulators but shite for Amigas and ZX Spectrums and any old computer with a flippin keyboard. (edit - PS3 adaptor works ok...) Stay Fresh, Cheese Bags!
  16. I had problems with Atari800 and Atari800WinPlus. I found a very good alternative emulator here http://www.virtualdub.org/altirra.html There is a beta version with more features among the comments here http://www.virtualdub.org/blog/pivot/entry.php?id=289#body
  17. Spectrum: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/emulators.html For Windows with GameEx I recommend ZXSpin. For Nintendo DS, ZXDS is completely brilliant. I don't trust my own configs, you'd be better off building your own. Command line is just ZXSpin.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" I have 2 emulator configs set up for 48k and 128k modes, but there's probably a tidier way.
  18. It works! You wonderful person. Thankyou thankyou.
  19. Great program headkaze, thankyou. I only have one small problem that I've been trying to fix myself for the past few days, but I lost. I have done clean installs of everything but the operating system (XP64) in an attempt to get it to work. Maybe you can help? Everything works great, it loads all the proper settings automatically, except for one thing: in gamebase mode it doesn't insert the floppies to load. If I run from gamebase it loads up winuae with the proper disks in their slots, but in winuaeloader I have to manually select the disks in WinUAE. The annoying thing is that when I first tried WinUAELoader, gamebase mode worked fine. But something happened along the way. Any ideas about what I should do? Want to see any configuration files? Thanks for reading this.
  20. Thanks, I've used FRAPS in the past. I'll download it again and definately use the renaming plugin. I found a workaround for my winvice problem (don't know if it is me or emulator causing the crash), when I discovered that low resolutions were only making the emulator crash when it STARTED in fullscreen, so I removed the -fullscreen bit in GameEx configuration, Then: WaitBeforeKeys 9000 SendKeys %d Lovely! It's fixes like that any turnip can figure out which makes GameEx the best.
  21. Hi, I'm a registered user, I was wondering if gameex features the ability to take a screenshot (perhaps with PrtScr) when running any emulator and put the file neatly into the snaps folder as defined in that current emulators configuration? I'd find it useful at least. Also do any WinVICE users know how to get it to hide its menu bar? It ruins the mood I've tried running it at lower resolutions which hide the menu bar but that makes the emulator crash.

  23. Just compiled MAME 0.129 without a hitch. Ran first time. Great program and instructions, thanks. (AMD64 dual core 3800+, XP 64 bit, no mameui)

  25. Thankyou thankyou! I only wanted it to play a small selection of songs from a folder, as basic as that. Not every mp3 thats ever been within 3 feet of my computer. Also, WMP11 is damn bloat if you ask me. cheers!
