I ham running version 10 or even before that and I wondered how to upgrade to the latest version - I have done an install but it overwrites my settings? Any suggestions?

cheats now working... appears you have to place the new cheats.zip into the mame root folder. All works well. If only I could like the config cheats window to a buton now instead of going through config thenselecting cheats - does anyone know if that is possible?

it also appears there are many unlisted controls such as LIGH1_X and LIGHT1_Y and another one for "P1_PEDAL" (tag "ADC1") All looks good. Just reversing the X and Y for Star Wars and ESB, etc - Thanks for your help! Just need to get the cheats to work now?!

thanks. i managed to find the text file in ctrl that explained all the keys so i set them all to the player keys and all works well - thanks.

Does anyone know the settings to change for controlling trackball and driving games (steering wheel and pedals) for keyboard in mame. I know you get the TAB menu up but what do I need to change please. Thanks, Neil

i believe i have edited the main control jpeg file - thanks for the help. but the wording is slightly out still, how can i change this, is there a setting somewhere within mame to change the location of the text display for the controls. i have looked at controls.ini but this just states the text to be shown rather than the location, as the text is in the same position for all game panels, it must be a global setting somewhere?

just to add, i ran it twice within gameex. what i mean is repeated the update straight after. if this helps!

now fixed. appears if you run the update twice it works - weird but all working. i may sumbit this to Tom as a bug report. thanks.

i have tried using cpwizard but this looks like it runs in the background for ingame menus, whereas gameex does this already. and I want to display the panel buttons before the game starts (from within gameex game info page) Any suggestions? It must get the image from somewhere?

yes. using update list within gameex. i am using folders view as well and all mname games list and both show the () in game names.

it appears that you can change the key links directly under C:\GameEx\CONFIG\custominput There is also a text file labelled 'scancodes' that shows all the codes. This has allowed me to change to NUMPAD_Enter instead of just Return/Enter and all works well. Thanks.

Where are the control panels stored in MAME, GameEx please? Not the cabinet pictures but the images of what buttons do what on each game please?

My Folder list of MAME games shows the game names in brackets even though I have this switched off within GameEx. is there another setting that changes this and turns it off please?

never mind. it appears updating MAME32UI to the latest version (141) solved a lot of these issues.

Is there a way to run different emulators - eg: 'asteroid' requires MAME32.exe to run whereas other roms use MAME32UI.exe I have attempted to play with the Emu Map config application but cannot work it out. I have created a new Emulator named MAME32 and linked asteroid to this Emu but it still does not work - is this something that I cannot do or I am doing incorrectly? Many thanks.

anyone? Meedio is the only other alternative to run the menu that way and I really want to run it via GameEx!!!

Is there a way to create some of the screens as horizontal menus with larger icons rather than the list form? Thanks, Neil

i have the gameex working fine in that folder if i rename the file gameex.ini, etc i wanted to have different configs available from the command line launch. is there anything that sets custom configs enabled anywhere?

Tried that as well. Even tried just one word .ini and the full link - GameEx runs but runs as the standard setup rather than using my config file.

any one got any suggestions please...?

I want to run the same version of GameEx (eg: Same folder) using different Config (ini) files. It states in the FAQ on the site that this can be done via; GameEx.exe config="C:\GameEx\CONFIG\GameEx-MAMEonly.ini" but I have tried this and it doesn't work - should i need to do anything else or have I got the syntax correct I have double checked). nevermind i have figuired it out. to do what i needed to i can change the text under the gameex text options, then just place the appropriate new search criteria under the old field (eg: Category, Manufacturer, Year) and all works well... Thanks.

yes that's correct as I have to have the rom name under GoodName for them to show. My question was whether I could change the search criteria - so you can select CATEGORY and other criteria rather than Manufacturer and Year, etc

thanks. i found the same resolution last night as well It appears I need a game name (under GoodName) rather than field "NAME" - weird but works thereafter! Also, is there a way to search by other fields, say Category, Players, or custom field from gameEx or would I only always be able to search by what gameex lists? (I know how to toggle just wondered if there was a way to change the actual seatch criteria selections as I do not want to use YEAR and MANUFACTURER but something else)
