  1. right, i have now tried it again (after reinstalling VC the other day) and it now appears to be running MAME without any issues. I had already done a clean install, driver updates, etc but the only thing I didn't do was the Windows update. I am not bothered with this but it appears one of the updates may potentially break the MAME display. Thanks.
  2. Always glad to help others. That's what the forums are for On another note my issue with Sony / VC Redist is in another thread - http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/15023-visual-studio-install-breaks-mame/
  3. I downloaded the full standalone install from Microsoft of the VS redist. I have updated drivers (DX and nVidia) and MameUI32 (v0.141). I did try the new version of MAME but this has the same effect before so I linked to driver rather than MAME. I have just installed VS redist these last night again (from the clean wipe) after taking a partition image (for backup). I will let you know if the problem reoccurs, if it does we can definately say it is linked to VS. I cannot install .Net 4.5 as its XP and it states cannot be installed on XP?
  4. ok thanks, i will try that and let you know.
  5. I did state in one of my threads that I would upload all my working command lines to help others as well as some suggestions/queries on some others. I now have 32 emulators working on my 2Ghz PC, only running emulators via GameEx. Strictly an Arcade Cab So here are the emulators and command lines I am using to get them working. I have two requirements for me to add the emulator to my Cabinet, if these two points are not met then they fall off my list (I gave up trying to get every Console/Emulator working some time ago) The two points are: 1.) Emulator must autorun the rom in fullscreen 2.) and the controls must be configurable to my XArcade Tank joystick. To add all my Emu's are saved under C:\Games (command line shows this). Atari 2600 Stella.exe -video gl -gl_fsmax 1 -fullscreen 1 "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Atari 7800 EMU7800.Win.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Atari Jaguar PTLoader.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Atari Lynx mednafen.exe -fs 1 -lynx.special hq2x -lynx.videoip 1 -lynx.stretch 1 "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Coleco Vision mekaw.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Commodore 64 x64.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Commodore Amiga winuae.exe -f "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Laserdisc Daphne vldp -fullscreen -x 640 -y 480 -nohwaccel Magnavox Odyssey 2 O2EMLauncher.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" MAME MameUI32.exe -nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo Mattel Intellivision Bliss.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" -fullscreen Nintendo 64 Project64.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Nintendo Gameboy VisualBoyAdvance.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Nintendo Gameboy Color VisualBoyAdvance.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Nintendo Gamecube Dolphin.exe -e "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Nintendo GBA VisualBoyAdvance.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Nintendo NES bsnes.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Nintendo SNES bsnes.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Nintendo Virtual Boy vbjin.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Philips CDi Philips_Cd-i_Loader.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Pinball (Future) FuturePinball.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Pinball (Visual) VisualPinball.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" ScummVM scummvm.exe --fullscreen --joystick -p "C:\Games\ScummVM\roms\[ROM]" [ROM] Sega Dreamcast chankast_launch.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Sega Game Gear Fusion.exe -fullscreen "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Sega Master System Fusion.exe -fullscreen "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Sega Megadrive Fusion.exe -fullscreen "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Sega Saturn yabause.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Sega SG1000 Fusion.exe -fullscreen "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Sony PSX psxfin.exe -f "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Spectrum fuse.exe -full-screen "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" (***WIP) Vectrex ParaJVE_console.exe -GAME="[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" -fullscreen=TRUE -menu=OFF I am having issues/requests with the following above emulators though: Laserdisc Need Panel images per game Commodore 64 Swap Ports (Alt+J) - Cannot Set Button? Commodore Amiga Need to set up 2 Player games keys Philips CDi Need to set Fullsvcreen (Stretch) by default Sinclair ZX Spectrum Cannot set Keys - WIP*** And these are the emulators I gave up trying to get working to my spec; Amstrad CPC Exit doesn't close down Application (even though set in GameEx) Apple 2 Not Fullscreen (F5) Tried -f -d <rom> Acorn BBC Micro Doesn't Autorun / Cannot set Keys Sony PSP MSVCP120.dll issue (Visual Studio bug) Sony PS2 MSVCP120.dll issue (Visual Studio bug) Amstrad CPC although exits, doesn't close down the actual application (still runs in background) WinApe issue maybe? PSP/PS2 requires Visual Studio install which breaks my MAME gaming (see other thread) Otherwise these would work fine, apart from XArcade Joystick doesn't have enough buttons Any suggestions/help/comments would be great!!!
  6. welcome to the foums as well. you will find we are a pretty nice bunch of helpful peps here.
  7. I have now managed to repeat the error I was having with MAME some time ago, when it was starting a game then the screen was going blank. I have completed a clean install of windows, GameEx, etc etc but as soon as I install Visual Studio drivers/install to be able to run PSP and PS2 emulators it breaks my MAME again - any suggestions anyone, else I will leave PSP and PS2 off my emulator list and keep to MAME.
  8. Ghostscript is part of the manuls section of the GameEx installer. Although I had the seperate Manuals download file (gs folder), so looked at the reg file and placed it in Program Files. The manually run the reg files that were in the folder and all is well. GameEx does not use the Adobe Reader which I first thought was the issue. I now have 36 emulators running via GameEx and will shortly create a new thread that helps others getting their emulators set up.
  9. Ignore me - I have managed to fix this by installing the Ghostscript Manual reader (seperately from the GameEx installer).
  10. Thanks for the update Tom, much appreciated and eagerly awaiting Evolution....
  11. I have some PDF manuals and set the appropriate field in the emulator database but they do not show. GameEx has the manual option but shows blank screen for 1 second then goes back to the game menu. Any suggestion? (And yes I have Adobe installed LOL)
  12. thanks, having tried most of the games it appears only a handful work anyway so may leave this one of my list or just run in smaller window resolution for the handful so of games. thanks for your help.
  13. Yes that's the emulator and I also have the wrapper for GameEx. Thanks. But how can I do this from the wrapper or command line via GameEx please.
  14. I have managed to get the CDI emulator working (from within GameEx) and loading a few roms but I have a few issues and wondered whether I could ask for help with the following issues; 1.) Why does the Mouse pointer stay in the centre of screen - Can I assume this is the primary controller rather than keyboard (which was not on the CDi) 2.) How do I get the Window fullscreen - it is fullscreen but runs the rom in a smaller window within this - is there anyway to stretch this from the command line from within GameEx? 3.) Some of the game video's are not playing (eg: Defender of the Crown) - I can hear the sound but nothing shows, am I doing something wrong, do I need to change a setting somewhere? Thanks, Neil
  15. thanks, all works well although the sound sometimes go a bit funny went going through the video snaps and some games that only have image snaps. I have turned the video snap sound off for now which is a shame. Thanks for your help all - I will list all my emulators on the forums soon so I can then help others if required. Neil
  16. ok thanks, i will try that.
  17. Emumovies - great!!! It doesn't find all my snaps and videos but hey its got most of them Thanks. One last thing though, how do I get GameEx to show the Video Previews - I have stored them in the folders and pointed each emulator video folder to the location(s) but it still only shows the snap images?
  18. ignore my last comment, realised it was for the DVD's - joined up and will start it off tomorrow Thanks for all your comments.
  19. thanks but im a little confusing when trying to purchase - its $30 for annual and $60 for lifetime but then it asks to add 480p videos for another $60? So total will be $90/$120 and not 30 or 60? Is that correct?
  20. ok thanks, will probably join up later. just out of interest can you specify to only grab snaps/vids for certain emulators or all within GameEx?
  21. ok I have taken a look and it appears $30 or $60 per year which isn't bad to download all I need. Is it easy to use/setup within GameEx? Do you notice the quality difference between 480p and 240p considering the menu is taking up most of the screen display (and its a small square showing the vidoe snap within gameex). Also do you need much room on the PC tfor these movies? Thanks, Neil
  22. ok thanks, how much does it cost to subscribe though?
  23. Anyone know where I could obtain some 'snap packs' (instead of downloading individually) for the following systems please; Nintendo Gameboy (Not Advance) Nintendo NES Nintendo SNES Sinclair Spectrum And possibly; Amstrad CPC Apple 2 BBC Micro Dragon 32 Nintendo Gamecube Magnavox Odyssey 2 Sega Saturn Virtual Boy Bandai Wonderswan I am not asking for roms, just the SNAPS
  24. Is there a way of displaying an image before the emulator/game starts - for instance to show the controls of my XArcade controller for THAT emulator. I know there is a method of starting commands before and after emulatopr just wondered what the syntax would be if it could be done. I have tried the usual opening but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Neil
