  1. Nice Christmas present. Thanks Tom. Jay T
  2. That does look pretty sweet. I wonder if the screenshots are the pc or ps3 version. Jay T
  3. I like it just the way you have it. Jay T
  4. Holy Crap! Gone for a day and a half, come back and get two new releases! Good work Tom. Thanks. JayT
  5. Just woke up from my turkey and beer coma and wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Jay T
  6. Oh no problem Brian, just install Virtual PC, and then install winxp in Virtual PC, than install pj64 1.7.55 in that, then write an auto hotkey script to run it all, no problem. Be sure to make auto hotkey save state in both PJ 64 and the windows xp session so you don't see those annoying windows every time you run pj 64. Or of course you can run instant sheller in the virtual win xp session. Or you could...... oh f**k it just, 1) Format HDD 2) Install WinXP 3) ... Jay T
  7. Yes I agree, nice bezel and marquee. Jay T
  8. Thanks guys. This looks like its going to be a great release. I'm looking forward to HK's attract info addition as well. Jay T
  9. Heres another really good one. It integrates into the context menu so re-naming is a right click away. I highly recommend at least taking a look at it. Better File Rename Jay T
  10. Last time I tried instant sheller was before IE7 came out and I could not get the gui to come up back then. I haven't tried it since IE7 came out but assume I would get the same result now. Jay T
  11. You will have the best luck with a full windows install. Gameex doesn't play so nice with the stripped down versions, or so I've heard. Jay T
  12. Mine is 1/4 inch which is about 6 1/2 mm. Good idea with the switch I would have never thought of that. Sounds like some surgery might be required. Jay T
  13. I have lcd topguns as well and have the leds mounted behind smoked glass (the real deal not plexi). They work good when I have all the lights out in the room but in bright situations they leave much to be desired. My glass is mounted at a angle as well. Also if you leave your cab powered on all the time the leds could be dieing. I know the MTBF rate of LEDS is supposed to be high but I read that the LCD topgun's leds can only be used for about 1000 hours before they start to die. The article is here . Jay T
  14. Thought I would post this for those of you that use Arcade Ambiance. I stumbled across this website with some music this guy put together from a bunch of different games. The .mp3 is 50 minutes long so it should be suitable for arcade background sounds if you like. Its kind of different so you will have to judge it for yourself. http://www.bobostertag.com/music-recordings-w00t.htm I don't use arcade ambiance myself but thought some of you might like to know there are alternatives out there. Here is the description from the website. "w00t (2007) a collage of computer game sound and image by composer Bob Ostertag and artist John Cooney. In March of 2006, I put all my recordings to which I owned the rights (14 CDs) up for free download from this site. w00t is my first release to skip the CD-for-sale stage and go directly to free Internet download, under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license. Please download, copy, send to your friends, remix, mutilate, and mash-up. And please support this attempt to build free culture by sending a link for w00t to your friends. w00t consists of a 50-minute sound collage, a 4.5 minute sound â??trailer,â? and associated â??cover art.â? There is, however, no cover. w00t is a free, internet-only release. w00t was composed entirely from fragments of music from these computer games: Balloon Fight â?¢ Congo Bongo â?¢ Contra â?¢ Earthbound â?¢ Halo: Combat Evolved â?¢ Ico â?¢ Katamari Damacy â?¢ Killer Instinct â?¢ The Legend of Zelda â?¢ Massive Assault â?¢ Myst â?¢ Star Fox â?¢ Super Metroid â?¢ Super Smash Bros.: Melee â?¢ Viewtiful Joe â?¢ WarioWare, Inc: Mega Party Game$ â?¢ World of Warcraft" Jay T
  15. I'm not an expert but your reasoning sounds plausible to me. Jay T
  16. The only time I tried it I got an explorer window with no GUI also. Not a problem for me though as I do way too much configurating to use a sheller. I run mine in the startup folder in the start menu. Jay T
  17. Hehe, Brian "Sexual Chocolate" Hoffman IS a true legend around here. Jay T
  18. You lost power too huh? We lost our power over here in Bremerton around 5:00 pm and it came back on around 11:30. I'm curious to see if your ram was at fault or not. Jay T
  19. ROFLMAO!!! Jay T
  20. Those look sweet! I agree though, that I would only want them to run in attract mode if possible. I would hate to take away from the genuine arcade look and feel when I'm playing a game. My 2 cents. Jay T
  21. The next time it happens try the run last game in the gameex start menu and see if you can duplicate the error. On second thought though, I'm not sure if that will actually run the last game you initialized or if it also runs the games ran in the screen saver. Worth a shot though. Jay T
  22. Yup, looks like you did! Not like him to let one slip like that. Must be taking a break. Jay T
  23. Don't rule out the ram in the system being at fault. I've seen some pretty weird stuff with memory and the only test that detected the memory problems was running windows itself. I can't tell you how many times I've seen memory tests pass, but the problem still there until the memory gets replaced. But definitely try a different video card, and for my money I would say the power supply would be my last swap test. Power supplies can do some weird shit like lb11 described, but in my experience they are usually all or nothing. I have also personally experienced a hard drive that I had that did the same thing you were describing, but mine was the drive and not the PS. I got an exact replacement for it as it was still under warranty and still have it in my computer today, and that was three years ago. My hard drive was the main drive and the system would randomly beep and reboot with no warning whatsoever. It could take two hours or two days before it would do it again and it was very frustrating and hard to figure out what the hell it was until my hard drive really shit the bed one day. I haven't had that problem again since replacing the drive and I never replaced the PS. Any ways what I'm getting at is don't rely too much on stress testing it as swapping stuff out will probably save you some time if you have the extra parts lying around. Like Creek said "any piece of hardware connected in or to your pc, could be at fault". Swap stuff out and narrow the possibilities down. Jay T
  24. Mamepm for mame compiled for pentium M, mameat for mame compiled for athlon etc. Just rename it to mame if you like.
  25. I've noticed that too Kaze. I saw your post asking byoacers what they thought about the irc in your cpwizard. Well that was 10 days ago and no-one has replied. Honestly I don't think you get the respect you deserve over there. I occasionally read the posts over there, and I love Saint's site and the work he has done for the community, but I don't like to post on his forum. Too many negative people that just want to post smart ass remarks and in general not be helpful at all. On the flip side, his site (and forum) is a treasure trove of info and the arcade community would not bode well if it went away. Jay Thompson
