Ok I switched the thing back to "GAMEEX Will not change resolution" and it is doing what you see in the picture. The funny thing is that the videos play just fine now.
-
I updated everything to 0.128 and it is still having the same problem... not displaying everything. I am clueless here.
-
I will have to check... I should update my MAME stuff anyways. I will do that later today and let you know if it fixes the problem. For the video, it is an AVI file. A normal video file... they all do it though. As for the video card... I wanna say it is an ATI. The odd thing is, I am creating snaps right now so I can't check but what is odd is that the video is playing in the upper left corner like it always does when I create snaps and it is displaying properly. I dunno why it would work there and not normally.

I am having two separate problems that I don't know how to fix. On my HTPC, I open video files and they become HUGE and I only see about a quarter of the video... the top left corner to be exact. It all works fine otherwise but I am having this odd problem. I am running it on a 42" screen and am forcing the resolution to 1920 x 1080. Before, I wasn't forcing the resolution and GameEx would only run in the upper left corner... I fixed that when I changed resolution but now I have this problem. Other problem I am having is on my arcade machine. For whatever reason, some of my games stopped displaying. For instance, I have always had Puzzle Bobble/ Bust A Move in my favorites and it is now gone! The file is still there and I haven't changed anything but it is not listing anymore... EDIT - One last problem: On my HTPC, when I go to configuration to see abotu fixing the problem, when I push the button for Multimedia/HTPC, the configuration Ap crashes. I am running Vista Home Premium... never had that problem before either... I also updated to the most recent version of GameEx.

Cabinets and HTPC Setups Running GameEx
TalkingBull replied to David R Hilgendorf's topic in Gamer Rigs
Here are some pics of my touchscreen system running GameEx. I built the bartop for myself and the mini-cab for a buddy who wanted a jukebox as well. Here are the construction pics of this cab http://www.flickr.com/photos/25451458@N02/...57606678254094/- 363 replies

That sounds good, thanks! I didn't want to have any of the other games on there since this is for my dad... I want to make it as simple as possible and stick with just the verticals (Enable MAME with no subcatagories). Thanks!
-
I am building a MAME Vertical only machine and was wondering if anyone had or knows a link for a collection of just vertical games. My cab lists 600 games and I don't really want to pick through all of them to put on the new drive if I don't have to. Also, does anyone know of any vertical games that require 2 buttons? I am building a Galaga themed bartop and want it to look like a Galaga cab as much as possible.

Tom, I tried it out and it works perfectly! That was exactly what I wanted. Now I don't accidentally click an adjacent button! Thanks!!!

I am at work at the moment but when I get home I will fire it up and let you know how it goes.

Completed Feature Requests (Moved)
TalkingBull replied to jr9770's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
The arrow-fix works great. What I meant by not being able to scroll is that if I wanted to look at the screenshot or something for the game in the list, I have to click it and open the page instead of just hovering over it like normal on an arcade cab. It would just be easier to navigate with a double-click. -
Completed Feature Requests (Moved)

I know this is probably a "niche" request but I was wondering if there could be a way to make button selections optional for double-clicking. The reason this would be helpful for me is for my Touchscreen system. When you touch a button, it clicks it which makes it impossible to scroll through the options... Also, there is the occassional "miss-click" where I fat-finger the wrong item. So basically just something where menu selection items could be either single or double click as an option on the config menu... that's my request. -
I don't have a good explanation but I fixed the problem. I just reinstalled all the games. It was the last thing I could think to try and it worked. I have absolutely no idea why...

I am running GameEx on a touchscreen system that I built and have absolutely no problems on it whatsoever. The thing is, I built an identical system with the same hardware for a buddy of mine and I am having all sorts of problems! I am running windows games via the emulator section. Basically I am launching shortcuts (*.LNK). The problem I am having is that some of the programs launch and some of them don't. They are all properly installed and will run independent of GameEx but will not run inside. For example, I can play Bookworm Adventures but not Bejeweled 2 (Though they both launch in Windows proper). The screen goes black, then I see the mouse pointer doing the hourglass and then right back to the GameEx game screen. I can not figure out why it ts doing this and it is driving me absolutely mad! If anyone knows what is going on here, please let me know!!! I am running the latest version of GameEx on an AMD 64x2 6400 2.3 Dual Core with 2 GB of RAM runninc Vista Home Premium 32x. There isn't a hardware problem as far as resources or anything goes...

I have been using Collectorz products since they hit the net and have been looking for a way to integrate with GameEx. I have most of my movies on my HDD in AVI format and would like to do what you have done but also to link to the movie files. I can play them via GameEx in the media section but I think it would be cool to have all the Movie Collectorz data integrated. Is this possible with this setup?

Completed Feature Requests (Moved)
TalkingBull replied to jr9770's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
I recently set up a touchscreen system which I use to play games like Bejeweled, Scrabble, and Bookworm. I wanted to have attract mode only run the games that I installed but that didn't work. I installed MAME and got that to work, then I set it to play from the emulaters so that it would play both MAME and the PC Apps. My feature request is to make it so that you can specify to play MAME or an emulater for attract mode and also specify the emulater. I would rather not have MAME on this machine since I don't use it on there. -
COMMAND LINE WORKED!!! I didn't even try that because I have 32, advance, zinc, etc... running on my MAME machine. Thanks for the help!

I have GameEx installed on a touchscreen system I built and I am using it to run Windows games (Gamehouse and Yahoo-type games). It works great for this purpose but I have a problem. I want to run the attract mode or any screensaver really but it won't let me. I guess GameEx overrides the Windows screensaver... So I threw some ROMS and the up-to-date set of MAME32 files in there but for some insanely annoying reason, nothing I do will get GameEx to list any games! The program (MAME32) works fine independently but not under GameEx. It simply will not list the games (Says no games exits). I know I have this set up properly; all my directory/paths are correct, all the roms are in there.... it just won't work! I either need help getting this to work or a way around the attract mode so the Windows screensaver can take over.

Well this is odd. I checked the config file and it was set to 800 x 600 from the start. I can't figure out why this won't work!
-
Had a problem with 9.36. It isn't a huge deal but I thought I would throw it up here. My secondary display which shows the artwork files and such is now for some reason configured on my desktop of my primary display. I didn't have time to fix it but I am sure it is a simple solution. Also, when will we get a chance to edit/create some V3 themes? I love the new features!
-
I didn't even think to try something like that! I will give it a shot and let you know! Thanks!!

I am planning on building a bartop touchscreen similar to a Merit Megatouch and I was thinking that GameEx would be perfect for this. Has anyone else tried this?
-
Ok, this isn't technically a GameEx-related issue but I need help and thought someone on the board might have a similar problem. I have a Betson 27" Arcade/PC monitor (IMP - 27" DIGITAL MULTI SYNC RAW THRL) and it runs at a max resolution of 800x600. It works great and looks especially good with GameEx and pretty much all MAME but the problem I have is that when I try to run a windows game like Bejeweled 2, the screen goes black and a message appears on the screen (very briefly) that flashes. It says something about the refresh rate but it doesn't say that it can't display it, near as I can tell, it just displays the variable refresh rates the monitor can do. I have changed my resolution and refresh rate to every possible option and I can't get it to work! This is driving me nuts!!! If anyone has the same monitor and doesn't have this problem, please let me know how you fixed it or if there is anything I can do! Thanks! I don't really know why this is happening but for some reason, the default GameEx bezel as well as the artwork bezel files I have aren't showing up. They are configured properly but are absent. Does anyone else have this problem?
-
I have the same problem. It keeps trying to reinstall and then roll-back. I get the same error (DirectX)

I would like that as well, it would make my massive media folder displays a bit better
