Sorry but is not incorrect! Adding the -window flag does run MAME in windowed mode. I have tested and verified. It is not hard coded in. The problem is that HideOS.exe steals focus from it no matter what settings are chosen (i.e. Full Screen Windowed > Windowed and Hide Destop > No). It is mentioned in this thread. So options would be to delete the file as per Tom's suggestion, script something to kill that process when GameEx starts or just when MAME starts a game, or setup MAME as a stand-alone emulator which would lose out on lots of built in functionality.

I don't believe it's hardcoded but by default GameEx Arcade Edition adds the -nowindow switch. So changing that to -window should give the desired results.

Run in debug mode or from command-line so that you can see the output from MAME in hopes that it gives some valuable information.

Probably! Am sure GameEx is now looking for the new tag in newer releases since it was changed. Hence why your older version of GameEx verified ok since it was looking for the older tag since the new one didn't exist then. Which is why it won't verify now. Now will have to wait for Tom to chime in to verify since he will have to check his code. But giving him some direction what he needs to look for. I guess to fix this probably we should also find out what version it was changed.

Looks like the xml has changed. Particularly the tag <game> has been changed to <machine> in newer versions of MAME. So GameEx needs to look for different tags based on the version.

I would think something is wrong with your listinfo.dat file that is being generated. This file usually takes awhile to generate. From the time stamps on your log, it seems awfully fast to be reading it after it is generated. I'll have to do some testing on that particular version of mame. Have you opened that particular file to see if anything exists in the file? It's location is listed in your log. Edit: Perhaps was wrong on the speed since I didn't test that particular version and it did generate quickly now that I have. Was comparing to new version of MAME. But still open the file to see it's contents .

Hello old friends! I'm back and will be visiting the forums more frequently. I'm excited to be offering help and seeing all that I have missed out on over the years. I usually just popped in my head for birthdays but time for me to come home. I now have more time in my life for emulation and hoping to finally have things setup for playing instead of just support. I will frequent almost everyday or as much as my life permits. What happened to the chat room? Was hoping to pop in and chat with a few old friends. Oh well! Hope to hear from some of you and make some new friends. I'll give a new introduction if needed since I see there are lots of new faces around and I'm not as well known as I once was.

Hey all! Thanks for the recognition. Sorry haven't been around much. Real life has kept me from the emulation scene. But will eventually be back. After all the supporting....I'm finally ready to have my stuff set up instead of just collected. LOL. Nice too see ya all and will check in from time to time.

Hey all! Long time. What's new?

It's been years since I've even tampered with this emulator so I don't know how much help I can provide unless I do some troubleshooting. Have you thought about trying to use another emulator? According to NonMAME, RetroArch is tested to be a better emulator than SSF. I always used this source as to which emulator to use when setting up GameEx. If that is not the route you want to take then give me some time to figure it out. Note: I just dug this up and started it up and for me it loaded right away with defaults. So it something on your setup that is causing this. Let's do some troubleshooting.

OP said roms are showing after deleting from folder......Wouldn't deleting the map file generated for that emulator be the fix? I've been out of the game for awhile but that use to be the solution so that it can be rebuilt.

That's what I was checking in for. Glad I didn't miss it. Same ole me. Just been workin, computer nerd stuff, programming, and the newest addition (grandson) in my life. Other than that, I'm still my same ole boring self. Wanted to finally setup my htpc with games so wanted to check in.

Is this the file you're downloading and installing? This is the file that is linked from the ps2 emulators site.

As suggested by RIP-Felix, I too suggest this as this should install the necessary files needed for these emulators.

Now that I'm back i'll be doing some updating and uploading of files to bring things up-to-date.
