  1. And this has worked for you? If so then since you are changing the names to your liking the way I would go about it is to script something up to change the name for you based off a list. That way when you update your romlist you can just run your script and apply the changes. Not sure of another way since MAME is setup to generate the known name for you and GameEx generates the info based off that name.
  2. For MagicEngine the command-line would be: pce.exe "syscard3.pce" Note that this emulator requires you to boot the image before loading the emulator. So you can use mounting tools and use the Launch Before setting to apply that or can use GameEx's integration if a registered user and downloaded that function during install using the following command-line: pce.exe "syscard3.pce"[-VIRTUALDRIVE-] Either will do. Hope that helps you and glad to see you getting everything going.
  3. No problem. Glad you got it all sorted out. ESC is the standard key used by most emulators to exit when running from command-line. So only way to avoid that is to remap the ESC key to something else if you don't want it to exit. As far as your MAME list looks like you got that sorted out as well. When running MAME using the integration of GameEx then it generates the name for you. When using under "Emulated Games" then a database ([Arcade]MAME.mdb) or a MAP file is required. Database would be the way to go in that case since it would just list what you have. Not so strange to list every game by default since most of us have every game possible. But it's a simple fix for those who don't which looks like you figured out as well. Looks like you're on your way! Have fun and let us know if you have further questions.
  4. Post your log and we can see exactly what it's doing.
  5. As I mentioned before, this emulator closes using the ESC key by default. Yes, it is true that it will go to windowed mode when running through windows but when running through command-line then it changes it's behavior. And that's how GameEx will launch it unless you wrote a wrapper for it or something. This is taken from the emulator History.txt file: When using the -fullscreen option, the ESC key will exit the emulator. So you see.....The emulator itself closes using the ESC key. It has nothing to do with GameEx. It's the way the emulator was written.
  6. Well running that particular emulator will still exit using escape since that's how it was written. If having issues with others then please just list the emulator name. As far as the "update list" try again and if nothing happens then post the full log of when you're trying to do it.
  7. Well disabling that would disable both keys. You can use an advanced config to exit out using the keys you desire. Or you can always script something to work.
  8. 1. Set Map Keys to No in that Emulator Setup section. Quoting the Help/Documentation section of the main site... 2. GameEx should be generating the name for your roms. But without posting any info then we can not see what's going on. Post your log. Have you rebuilt your list found at the bottom of the MAME menu in GameEx? Let's start with the log and then go from there. 3. If your games are in folders from what it seems like you're saying according to your post then you need to enable that feature by setting Scan Sub Folders to Yes in that Emulator Setup section.
  9. Glad you got it all sorted out on your own. Makes things easier for us.
  10. Nice addition Tom! Thanks again for another release.
  11. Well do you have a MameUI32.exe or MameUI64.exe in your directory? We don't know what you have. If using MAME 0.133 now then you might wanna compile that version but I always would rather compile the newest version of MAME instead. And if your roms are 0.133 then just update them. Don't see any reason to use an older version of MAME unless it's for compatibility or other reasons.
  12. Fraps is one that has been recommended here many times. And quoting from the site. If not then there are others out there that accomplish this. Google is your friend now that you have something to start with.

    Wrapper issue

I just tested and this wrapper doesn't have a CLI. It seems the way that this wrapper works is that it needs to be loaded after the game starts. Not before! So try adding it the launch after setting in GameEx. Some other tweaking might need to be done as well since it doesn't seem to exit the wrapper when the game is closed. I haven't tested in GameEx since not at that system but that should work for you. Good luck! This wrapper is a basic autoit script so maybe one of our many scriptors can maybe make a better wrapper for it.
  14. Found here using search.
  15. Maybe set Show MAME Bezels to Yes in the Attract/Screensaver settings?
  16. Only way I'm aware of to accomplish that is to setup MAME as a separate emulator. That way you can run an app from a different location than where the emulator is. That's how I work my wrapper so I can store in one location and run with any emulator I want. Don't think GameEx's MAME settings allows you to do that. That might be a feature request for Tom.
  17. Always run the emulator outside of GameEx first and set save paths when needed. Then once setup it will work in GameEx flawlessly.
  18. Shouldn't make a difference. Without seeing the database you entered then it's hard to tell what's going on. Also would be helpful if you exported your config so we can have it look and make sure everything is being called correctly.
  19. It's looking good Palmore! Looking forward to it's release. Nice contribution to the community.
  20. Press TAB >> Input(general) >> Player 1 Controls to configure Delete the default.cfg file in the cfg directory of your MAME install directory to reset. Or if your calling a ctrlr file from your command-line or mame.ini file then need to mess with the file it points to.
  21. No problem. Have fun! Let us know if you have any other questions.
  22. Press the TAB key on the keyboard in MAME and the menu appears to go into the settings.
  23. LOL. Beat me to it! Glad you got it sorted out but good if you post the solution for someone else for future references.
  24. Since not a GameEx issue then it's hard to get help unless someone is running their hardware exactly the same way as yourself. I did a search and came across this wiki page that describes the problems with games and apps and it suggested an app called CSMMT. So might wanna google that and see if that's a solution for you. Other than that then give time for a user to respond with that type of solution.
  25. Descriptions can be added by editing the database for that emulator. In this case you can create your own and call upon it in the settings. These files are found in the DATA\EMULATORS directory of your GameEx install. Take a look at an existing database to learn how they are structured. There's even a template file in there to get you started.
