Yah, windows was messing with my monitor IDs. It has to do with monitor discovery getting messed up. Unplug your other 2 screens, and just leave the playfield plugged in. Then follow the directions on this page http://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/736116-windows-display-properties-identify-numbers-are After that, you should plug-in your other screens in order, then all should be good. I have my TV going to my DVI connector, my backglass going to my HDMI, and my DMD screen going to a display port. This kept my screen orders correct after doing the fix above. This was a really frustrating problem to fix.
-
Just to clarify...the physical bottom of the TV is on your left when looking at it while playing. That same screen (1 in windows, 0 in pinball x) is the screen on the left with NO rotation settings in windows, but has rotation set to=270 in pinball x.
-
Always 1 (in windows). then Pinball X will see that automatically as the playfield screen (0 in pinball X). Make sure that your playfield is your PRIMARY screen as well.
-
I noticed that you have your playfield screen as rotated=90. I have mine set to rotate=270. How are your screens orientated? I have the bottom of my playfield TV screen facing to the left (and this is how most people do as well). I have NO rotation settings for the playfield screen in windows display settings. This is how you want to be setup as this is the most common layout for FP and VP. I also noticed that you have your backglass as monitor 2 and your dmd as monitor 1 (in Pinball X) . You may want to have your backglass as monitor 1 (in pinball x) and dmd as monitor 2 (in Pinball X). (This is how I have mine) So, try setting up your playfield as I said above: -then re-connect (on your video card connectors) / arrange you screens so that your backglass is screen 2 in windows (1 in pinball x), and your dmd is screen 3 in windows (2 in pinball x) -make sure your screens in windows are positioned correctly. This is how I have mine for FP and VP. Its important to have your playfield (1) to the left and the backglass (2) to the right. The DMD screen (3) is positioned this way only for me because of the specific layout I use for FP. Everyone else has their dmd screen to the right of the backglass screen. -then make sure FP is using the correct screen for your backglass now that you have changed it around. -confirm Pinball X has your screens correct now. The screen order ID and layout does make a difference. Be sure they are not getting changed at any point. I had a glitch in the windows registry where it kept re-arranging my display ID's and the software was getting confused. Once I deleted those settings in the registry, and re-connected my screens in proper order, all was good again.

Does it show ANYTHING at all on the backglass? Like a pinball x logo picture or anything. By default, if there is nothing else to show, you should at least see something there when in Pinball X. Check your monitor layout and the ID numbers for your screens. Sometimes things get mixed up between windows and other programs. I have my playfield as 1, backglass as 2, dmd as 3. Also, make sure the pictures are in PNG format. JPG pics don't show up at all for me. Have your Pinball X config file attached, and also I think a log file. (Draco, knows the ones you need) It helps so that myself and others can see what may be going on. Glad to see you here BTW!

They can, but sometimes you may have an issue when you launch a game from Pinball X, and the X-padder like software is still thinking you are "playing" from Pinball X and will still run the keyboard mapping intended for Pinball X. This means that his analogue functions and the "mapped" functions (on his stick) are running at the same time.

The idea is that you can use setDMD to setup a good default size, position (on whatever screen), colour, etc... and have it save that to all of those pinmame rom settings in the registry, so you don't have to do it yourself for every table..... even tables you don't have installed yet! Then when you run a table, even for the first time, it will be setup for you. The only thing setDMD won't do is the rotation setting change. It's only the non-standard (large dmd, dmds to be rotated, digital segments, etc) that need any changes afterward. It was a little confusing at first, but once you understand the settings, it makes your job much easier....especially when you are dealing with hundreds of tables!
-
Yah, I tried changing rol in the table script, but it wouldn't work for most of my tables that needed rotation for the DMD.
-
I do believe its: HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Freeware / Visual PinMame You should see an entry for every PinMame rom in there. Select your rom, then look for the "rol" and "ror" settings and try changing their value to 1, for changing the rotation.
-
Yes, what i meant was that the default location, size, etc is set in pinmame and setdmd first, then you run your tables and make any changes per table afterward... I tried changing the rotation in the scripts, but there were alot of tables where it didn't work, so I had to do it in the registry. You can always back-up your registry entries for your pinmame settings just in case.

Now I understand.... roger that. I myself haven't gotten anything from emumovies or any FTP from Hyperspin. I did however get the MAME wheel logos from the Hyperspin website itself. (The free downloads section) Any Pinball wheel logos, audio or media came from other websites (VP forums, pinsimdb, etc) and your FTP. All table, dmd, and backglass videos for the most part I recorded myself. Hopefully, what I have is ok.
-
Just to clarify Tom.... do you mean author of the original table / game, or more specifically, an author of the custom created media? (ie, Draco's Wheel images) I just uploaded stuff similar to what I already saw on the FTP (the videos I captured myself). If anything I uploaded is a no-no, please tell me, so I will know in the future. Thanks, Tom.

Files are up now Draco. I had around 155 VP tables with all 3 systems combined. I got what seemed to be the most popular. If you are deciding to go the d2bs route, then you will need to get that all setup as well. You would get the d2bs backglass file to match your table (with matching filename), and then you need to enable it in the table script. This is assuming you have the d2bs server setup. (I just used the VPX all in one installer which took care of the d2bs server for me.) If you don't want to setup d2bs backglasses, then just have Pinball X play these backglass videos / images while you play your VP tables. Good luck!

Another thing I did, was having a separate mapping program (like what Carny said, I use Pinnacle Gaming Profiler) that would map my EXIT button to run a "taskkill" .BAT file to taskkill ALL possible instances of VP (even if they weren't open, ie VPX, VP9, VPPM5 all included). I don't have Pinball X's EXIT key function mapped to make any of my emulators exit, as it can have weird issues where it may only close part of what was running, etc... I use Pinnacle Gaming Profiler to make my EXIT button close each emulator as needed for that system. Some, will close with alt-f4, others (Pinball Arcade) required a taskkill command from a BAT file. VP also worked better with a taskkill BAT file. MAME... I use Rocket Launcher's hotkey to close MAME.

I'm also uploading to the FTP (other uploads/TerryRed) my collection of Visual Pinball Media for you Draco. It has updated backglass (no grill) and playfield videos. A few backglass's have still pics because they didn't animate on the table, so I just used a still pic. I didn't include my DMD videos because they are useless for anyone because they are formatted for my "2 display" middle screen. I also included the normal wheel images I currently have (in case you need them for your mega images), and the table audio I used. I have 3 system folders. Visual Pinball (this is VPX), Visual Pinball 9, and Visual Pinball PM5 (Physics Mod 5). All the media is sorted into each system according to what type of table it is. It may take a while to upload. Hope its helpful...

Yes, I also used setDMD to set ALL of my DMDs for VP. It will set the size, position, and colour of ALL of your DMDs. You may have to mess with certain settings to get it right. Just understand that if you do change something, and apply those changes, it may do it for ALL of your DMDs. Some DMDs need to be rotated, and it has to be done in the registry. (rol = 1 or ror =1 for that table's rom) I learned the hard way.... get ALL of your tables setup first. Then setup your default DMD colour, size and position, etc for what you will like for ALL of your tables. Then apply the changes. Then do the DMD rotation changes for the tables that need it LAST! If you decide to do some kind of change for all of your DMDs "after" changing the rotation for some tables.... setDMD will reset that rotation setting for those tables! I had to re-do the rotation settings for over 40 tables...blah! Some tables have larger DMDs, and digital scores, etc that may need to be adjusted for size afterward as well.

Pinball X doesn't respond to "analogue" joystick functions as for as I know. So that "may" be the problem with the UltraStick itself. If the UltraSticks are instead configured to use d-pad (also known as HAT switch) functions for the stick, then Pinball X won't recognise that either.... at least it doesn't recognise d-pad controls from an xbox 360 gamepad like on my cabinet.

Love your setup! Glad top see there is someone else who also has a curved 4K UHD TV being used for their simpit! Have you ever tried using custom 21:9 resolutions at all? I use a custom 3840x1640 (21:9) ultra-wide resolution with my 55 inch 4K TV for my simpit. You get black bars above and below the game (just like watching some movies), but it still looks great! Do you have simvibe on your simpit at all? It's awesome, and truly is a game changer. I can't wait for the day when I eventually get a VR headset.

As do you stig! I've just gotten into the cabinet scene for myself just in the last year, so I've had alot of catching up to do (to see what software is out there, etc) since last fall when I started this cabinet build. -

I always try to find new ways to make use of the "4th display" area on my middle screen. For MAME, I knew there were some cool programs out there that would let you see your control panel layout and other info for each game, either by pausing, etc.. I just wanted a way to show what the controls were for each game in MAME since there are so many different layouts. When someone else is using the cabinet, it would be nice not having to explain to them the controls for each game....but when I found CP-Wizard, I found exactly what I had wanted. I am basically trying to setup as standard control panel layout for each control type for each game in CP-Wizard. I just made a background pic the size of my middle screen with the MAME logo at the bottom. Then I made the layouts I wanted and saved them as separate layouts. Then I had CP-Wizard configured to use whatever layout for each control scheme as required. I didn't need to have CP Wizard running in the background. I just had CP-Wizard do an Export-batch, creating control panel images for each game automatically with the correct naming of the files. These pics work with Pinball X as my DMD screen images for MAME. They display while browsing through each game and stay displayed while playing. Simple and easy to see to see while playing at any time. I may just use this for PC Games and other emulators too. Here's some pics of my current layout. Its simple, and probably not final, but works quite well. -

The "4th display" is the area above the DMD on the third monitor, made to look like a 4th display, even though I only have 3 screens.... which is why I use quotes with "4th display". If I ever get more systems up and running in this cabinet, then I may look to your stuff as well... keeping it simple for now with so many other bits I still have to install on the hardware side. I mean, hell.... I just tried out Crossy Roads from the Windows 10 store on the playfield screen, and it looks damn cool, and plays great with a 4-way joystick. I never even thought of trying tablet type games on here, but some of them are perfectly suited for it with the vertical screen. (Don't want to deal with Android emulators if I don't have to) -

Yah, I didn't see your stuff or CP-Wizard until AFTER I made all of my marquee images. Would have made my that job much easier! At least now I can change things up now if I want alot easier. Since I use Pinball X for my front-end, it takes care of most of my multi-monitor requirements on its own. I just needed control panel pics to fill in my "4th" display area above the DMD. After seeing that CP-Wizard can export batch pics for each MAME game, I thought that this would be perfect for that space! I've got it working well.... I just have to get it looking snazzy somehow. Maybe I'll keep it simple for now.... having issues getting dual stick layouts to work... -

Yah, let's just say that in the 15 years of being a civilian electronics tech, I've done more soldering than I care to remember. (Not a lot of soldering since I've been a tech for the military) The ergonomic layout (which I did get from slag coin, great site) is nice for a two player situation where two people are really close together. So I figured this would be good to give some space when I had two people playing. Since I'm the only one who is using this thing most of the time, it became a non-issue. The straight layout just works better for classic arcade games. The 4-way joystick is soooo much nicer. I didn't want to deal with a u360, rotating gates, etc.. This just works all the time, nice and easy. Now I've been getting CP Wizard to create control panel / button layout pictures for each game in MAME that will show up in the top half of the middle screen. Pinball X will display this pic as my DMD screen image, and will continue to show it when the game is launched. This is soooo nice and looks great and is much easier for people who don't know what the controls are for each game. I didn't want to have CP Wizard running in the background, so this works perfectly without any hassles. I will post pics when I get it more sorted out.
