PinKadia! The Ultimate virtual Pinball / Arcade / PC combo cabinet!
TerryRed replied to TerryRed's topic in Gamer Rigs
Yah, I'm actually recording 5 videos at the same time. OBS records a video for the playfield, backglass, topper, dmd and the camcorder records the real cabinet. I play the game with the speakers turned all the way down, so all I hear of the feedback from the cabinet. Then I have to edit it all and sync it up to match afterward. Sadly with LCD Led screens the viewing angles aren't the best from that view. It would probably be worse if I had a playfield glass installed.. -

Finally, my new screen has come in. Upgraded to a 43 inch 4K TV, and it looks beautiful. Everything is crisp and clean and smooth, no lag. Here's an updated video of the Gameroom and TerryRed Studios..... -
PinKadia! The Ultimate virtual Pinball / Arcade / PC combo cabinet!

Like tthurman said.... when I first built this 2 years ago, my objective was to build as cheap as I could, using stuff I already had. So I already had most of the pc gear, and I already had the screens. Never thought I would go the DOF or controlled lighting route...but as time went on, I added a new thing on bit by bit as I could afford it. So....yah when people ask how much does it cost....my honest answer is.... "I don't know." The build time is much much smaller compared to the software time you put in. -

To give you a visual of what DOFLinx is for FX2.... Since I haven't really done any FX2 videos for DOFLinx, I think the new release of 5.20 which supports addressable leds makes this a good reason to have a video demonstration. DOFLinx is part of the complete cabinet experience for Pinball FX2! -addressable leds -B2S active backglass -full DOF feedback and lighting support Add in freezy's dmdext for virtual DMD (clean round dots) or real DMD support -

Agree. PFX2 has full cabinet DOF with DOFLinx now. Being able to still play all those tables with DOF as a separate system would be ideal. Then you can get the newer FX3 only tables setup as another system. -

I'm not at home, but yes...always keep your own DOFLinx.ini backed up when updating DOFLinx.... or don't overwrite it with the new *.ini file. I have to check at home, but I just have an FX2 folder and an FX2_B2S folder within the DirectOutput folder. You need to specify the path for both I think. Pinball FX2 was just updated by Steam in the last few days. DDH69 updated 5.20 to work with that update. So if your version of FX2 is older, then it may not work with 5.20 until you update FX2. I will check my DOFLinx.ini later to confirm what I have.

Masters of the Universe: Mastered. DOFLinx MX Cabinet Edition You have the power of the ultimate light show in a pinball cabinet! This is the first Future Pinball table to use addressable leds thanks to the new DOF led MX support in DOFLinx 5.20! You have never seen a light show quite like this in a pinball cabinet! Amazing effects and animation that surround the playfield! A video demonstration can be seen here in my cabinet: This table has the complete cabinet feedback and lighting support for the following: - 10 solenoids for flipper, slingshots, bumpers, etc..- 5 RGB flashers- Blower Fan- Shaker- Gear motor- Strobe- Beacon- Start button- Coin button- Launch Ball button- RGB Undercab Lighting- Addressable leds Requirements: - DOF R3 installed (for DOFLinx cabinet feedback and lighting) and addressable leds already setup and working (for MX led effects).- DOFlinx 5.20 or higher is REQUIRED, even if you don't have addressable leds.- addressable leds are NOT required to play this table, but they are HIGHLY recommended.- to use the addressable leds with this table you must have your DOF "config" files updated by using DOF Config Tool! (just like you would for Visual Pinball) To play a Future Pinball table with addressable leds support (DOFLinx MX): - update DOFLinx as per normal (must be 5.20 or higher). Make sure you copy over the new DOFLinx.vbs to "Future Pinball \ Scripts". - add DIRECTOUTPUTGLOBAL=c:\DirectOuput\Config\GLobalConfig_b2sServer.xml (assuming you have it there) to your DOFLinx.ini file.- download the awesomeness of a Future Pinball DOFLinx MX table- check DOF Config Tool to see if support for that table has been added to it yet (you will see FP tables start with "FP:") If there are no DOF commands showing for that table, its not supported yet.- "Generate" a new Config File (containing directoutputconfig30.ini in the zip) and copy the new files to your "DirectOutput \ Configs" folder.- play the epicness that is Future Pinball with DOFLinx cabinet feedback and addressable leds! DOFLinx 5.20+ download link: http://www.vpforums....&showfile=12318 Table will be here when approved: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=13089 -
Yup... my son went on a grade 8 trip, and we think they came back with him in his bag. We lost most of our furniture, thousands of dollars, and had to spend most of our weekends tearing our house apart to check for them and vaccum,etc... it was horrible. Worse than any crap I went through in the Army. We're still affected by it....

Most recent: TV screen being crushed my movers... Over the last year dealing with bed bugs in my previous home while upgrading the cabinet. Completely exhausting. A literal living hell that I hope no one ever has to deal with. SSD hard drive died and took 6 months of work with it. Middle screen died right after I got my addressable leds up and running. Had to rebuild my middle bezel, which means I had to edit ALL of my FP tables, and recreate my middle screen videos....which was done again after topper support was added. Just waiting for the next thing.... I'm military so I'm used to it now. On this forum, Tom, Draco, and Carney are definitely up there with most helpful.

These are ws2811 addressable leds. They are very different. You can get them a few per meter or many per meter. I have 144/meter, the most (and costliest) you can get. You basically use a Teensy 3.2 Controller, with Octo WS2811 adapter, a 5V power supply (I use a 5V 60A for around 1000 ws2811 leds), network cable that connects from Octo adapter to the strips, and 5V supply at different points of the strips depending on how may leds your are using. Teensy plugs into PC via usb. Software that drives it is DOF (Direct Output Framework R3) Here's a link to give you an idea of the hardware (not including the 5V supply) https://www.pjrc.com/store/octo28_adaptor.html This page has an older tutorial that can help you out, as well as some others. http://vpuniverse.com/forums/topic/2180-addressable-rgbs/?page=18

Even if you already have 5 flashers at the back of your cabinet's playfield screen, you can still have side strips and a single strip at the back, and DOF will just scale the effects to whatever you have! With a single strip in the back, you won't see letters, etc but you still will get a single line version of most of the effects.... or you can just add side strips.

I don't code the apps. DDH69 is the creator of DOFLinx, SwiisLizard created DOF (including addressable leds code and effects), and Arngrim created DOF Config Tool (used to add table configs to your particular setup and hardware). I just mod the table code to make them work with DOFLinx, and I do the DOF commands / code for a table to create the addressable leds MX effects. The amazing thing is, you don't need to have a full matrix at the back of your playfield. If you already have lighting back there, or don't have much room at all.... you can have just a single strip at the back and sides, or just a strip at the sides, or both, etc.... DOF will just scale the effects to whatever setup you have! Addressable leds are the easiest update you can do. The only hard part is configuring it the first time, especially if you don't have DOF setup. -
This is why I'm concerned FX3 may mess things up for DOFLinx.... you don't want this greatness we are about to soon receive to not work because FX3 may screw it up....

A day of greatness is upon us.... DOFLinx will soon support triggering "any" DOF device and command. This means that finally.... addressable leds (MX), will work with Future Pinball and Pinball FX2! Here's a coming soon "reveal" video I made.... "Let there be light!" -
With FX3 coming out, I pray to got that it doesn't screw up FX2 tables being able to use DOFLinx....as we finally have addressable leds (MX) working with Future Pinball and FX2.....and it is glorious!

I don't normally have this much room, and because of my job.... (military) that can always change again at some point. So I decided that if I had to have either a pincab, or an arcade cabinet, it would be a pincab. Then I realized I could have the best of both in one! No need for naked women.... my wife has the best buttons to play with! -

Ok, so now I'm a much happier man. My mancave is mostly up and running. PinKadia is alive again, and the simpit is shaking the house again after a long absence... driving my wife crazy! Here's a video tour describing what I have, and how everything works and is wired together and how VR is setup to work with everything. I show off the simpit and how my 12 transducer telemetry feedback setup works and you also get to "hear" how it works too! It is amazing combined with VR! If want to skip right to the simpit demo then go here.... Just waiting for the new TV to get replaced, then I'll make a stand for that to go over the simpit to bring the screen closer. Then the last screen and game consoles will go the the unused space. -

Yeah, wheels, flightsticks, pedals.... they are all expensive nowadays. Thrustmaster's new HOTAS is beautiful. Made of metal and tough....but over $500! Then again, new Logitech and Thrustmaster wheels are usually over $500 too! That's why I got a Driving Force GT for cheap $40. I have both it (and its pedals) and the G25 plugged in (using its pedals and shifter). The G25 wheel itself is dead, but the rest still works fine. Normally you would buy separate pedals and shifter anyways. I just have the G25 wheel and Driving Force GT pedals sitting off to the side where you don't see it. Getting a pedal combo for both is tough. I've never had real flight pedals. I just used my racing pedals to act as rudders. Not perfect, but it does work.
