  1. Thanks for the reply Understand what you are saying. Did a number of beta tests for a number of front ends in the past. As a result I seem to have a lot of hacks, prototypes, etc of games for a lot of systems that don't seem to show up anywhere. As you have noted no one manager seems to support all the systems or all the games. But I'm one of those crazies who would like to list all the games ever made for a system. Always neat when showing off your cab, a game that no one has ever heard of or played.
  2. Morning all, Database work is fantastic. You both deserve a much deserved THANK YOU. I'd like to throw out a request I Made of GameEX a while back, that i think might now be doable, to help both the users and to better build the database. Have the Database put in all the games in the user game list from the database. If you have it, turn the text green or use a symbol. I f you have a game that is not in the database turn it yellow and then we will know to contact you guys about a possible needed addition. If you don't have it turn it red, and we will know we need to get that game. I don't know of a frontend that has this feature so this would be a first.
  3. I might want some fish if I first learned to fish
  4. Thanks guys. Does work as Tom stated. Only wanted to have 2 screens on the screen at a time. One showing the emulator and one showing the video of games playing on that system. Best videos are found by serching for 100 games in 10 minutes.
  5. where would I put the videos to make it work.
  6. already have a tool for this. When I find videos that Emumovies doesn't have, I download them and convert them to mpg on the fly. Don't want to use them as backgrounds but have a small video under the emulator image rinning the videos as i scroll each emulator. Look at how video's work. When you scroll thru your available movies , you see a preview playing of the movie you are currently scrolled to
  7. Recently found a bunch of "best of videos" for different systenms on youtube. The videos basicly cycle thru anywhere from 10 to 300 previews for games for a system. Would like a feature where in the new V3 themes, this video could play underneiath thes ystem pic as you scroll thru the variuos emulated game sytems. That way it would refresh the user's mind of what the systems grapics and games for that system were .Does this under videos now.
  8. PC -98 I'm using Anex86 X68000 I'm using Winx68 Greatflash is right. Both systems have some awsome games. Recently bought several hundred games for the 2 systems at a fle market. Disks are not in the best of shape but been able to covert quite a few to images to preserve them and run thru emulators. Lots of the games are single disc images so thought they might be easy to run thru GameEx. Multiple images would be harder
  9. Has anyone gotten these computers to run thru GameEx. Have both running outside of GameEx but not from within.
  10. no wouldn't want anything to happen to hurt this great software. Thought it was ok because we have game snaps for dl on the main page.
  11. Been following this post and want to say thank you to all that are working on this. Wish I had time to help but my jpb in the summer keeps be going from 6:30 am till 9 pm 7 days a week in the summer. *Wokr with kids keeping them busy and off the street" Not something that needs to be done now but would be neat if the databse had screenshots, boxart etc. built into the database. Movies are already covered as well as snaps for certain systems. But i'm sure it would be helpful to others to be able to have the database fillin the pics for us. I'm sure all of us have boxart, etc we could zip and sent to a central site for the database. Just a thought and something that could be incorporated into the database now for future use.
  12. May have missed it. Didn't see a database for Spectravideo SVI 318 & svi328
  13. Just thinking of things in the database that would be neat to have. How bout a column where we can pick a five star rating for the game. Maybe that data can even be tabulated like in Mame Live so those of us who have never played a certain game can see what others have rated it before we play it. Another neat thing to have is below the game desctiption would be a section where we could put cheats for the games.
  14. Guess I'm having a blonde moment. Can't seem to get the cursor to hide. Running the following batch file under Launch Also. @echo start "c:\Program Files\GameEX\Utilites\No Mousy\"nomousy.exe /h exit Running the following batch file in the launch after to save my nulldc config del nulldc.cfg copy nulldcbackup.cfg nulldc.cfg "C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools\daemon.exe" -unmount 0 "C:\Program Files\GameEx\Utilities\No Mousy\"nomousy.exe end also every time i start a game in Nullcd I have to put in the current date.
  15. Hi Brian Tried putting the no mousy in the launch before of my Ini for NUlldc but it doen't hide the mouse, what am i doing wrong.
  16. I agree each of the different naming systems has flaws and each have roms that the others don't have. Lets use the best of all of them and by having the button Headkaze talks about we can create a new system that GameEx uses can use and build on. Every different system I use for naming my roms leaves out roms that I have. Each of my systems have a folder called unknown roms that I cull and add to my rom directorys. This why I use map files to get the proper names of my unknown roms. Using the databases for this function would insure that we all are using the same names and would also show us what games we need to submit to be added to the databases.
  17. I'm one of those of us that just has to have every system and every game for every system. Since GameEx reads the databases, can it work like a map file and list every game thats in the database weather you have it or not. Then by checking it with your rom directory, color change the one's you have or don't have. (perhaps red for don't have, green if we have it, and yellow if not in database) That way if one us has a game not in the database we could submit the name etc. to someone to add to the database. Also this would tell us what games we still need. Seems like with all the work being done with the databases, this would be a natural update by Tom. Requested this once in the request forum but didn'y get much response.
  18. A while back I asked about this being incorporated into GameEx. Thought would be nice if on the fly you could update the datebase from the GameEx screen and then have it sent to the same palce as GameEx live goes. That way each time there was a update thru GameEx we all would get updated databases. With all the GameEx communty comtributing to updating and maintanining the database, we would have the most up to date dbs for any frontend. Looks great

If like me, time is a valuable commodity. If you ever get the time, can you add the option to export the ini files on the extra emulators you added.
  20. Like the idea. Using your idea , it would still show the year, which I like. <FLAG> Bugs Bunny (1983)<PROTOTYPE_ICON> Have played with the year field abit and you can arrange by year. Which I believe comes from the database (MDB). Wondered why when you highlight or pick a game it could't then show the flag as you suggest, the year etc, down in the description, or off to the side like you said. Rgardless what you had as your rom name, if it is indeed reading from the database.
  21. Thats what i'm doing
  22. Believe you are correct Tempest. I run both rom ripped games on discs and origional discs under one emulator. My map file covers the naming convictions so I don't have to set them up in groups or have seperate emulatiors.
  23. Currently running 5 external harddrives each with 500 gigs and still have problems with space. What I did was rip my cd into iso etc. and put hem on cds and dvds. I then make up a map file for all the games I have on discs. That way GameEx gives me a list like you are looking for. I then hit play games and it plays the games on the cd. I have done this for most all game sytems that have large file size games. (Playstation, Sega CD, Saturn, PC-fx etc) works well for me. Only thing I have do do is know which disk has which game. I wrote a program that allows me to catagories what discs have what game. Would love one day for GameEx to read the cd for me and show me what games in my map file is on the disc. Should be able to do the same thing with a map file for your cd games.
  24. What do you do for the no-intro sets that doesn't have a goodtools set??
  25. ok Got gameboy advance to work. Creaty a file under skins in VBA and put in the attched files. Outside of GameEX load the attached skin. Center the screen on your desktop and close emulator Open up GameEx and play. Must set desktop to true in ini file for emulator in GameEX. Bmp file is for those who wants to edit picture.
