Looks a lot like this tool: http://pinballbulbs.com/files/setdmd.html Color DMD settings exchanged through a text file with settings and using *.dmc file format

I'm thinking that table is dB2S, so nothing to kill. Is there another version of the dB2S you can try? Also, I usually use hidebackglass=False. May not make any difference here, though.

Hmm, your English is better than my German. Because I don't speak German at all. So, you still have to read this: I don't know what systems you are running. Suppose that it is only Visual Pinball. In your PinballX\Databases\Visual Pinball folder you have a file, "Visual Pinball.xml". Make a copy of this file, and then open it in Notepad for editing. Each game that you have added has a root element that starts with <game and ends with </game>. There are several child elements that store descriptive about the game, such as description, enabled, hidedmd. Delete out all root and child elements for any game that does not have year within the 1960s. When you are done, save the file in the same folder as Visual Pinball.xml. Then, rename the file 1960s.xml. When you start PinballX, you will have a new menu item (probably 1960s Tables if you have not modified some settings from the default). When you enter this menu item, you will be brought to a secondary wheel that only has 1960s tables. Suppose you have 1960s tables in Future Pinball, also. Repeat the process for Future Pinball.xml. Save the modified file in the Databases/Future Pinball folder. Now when you enter the 1960s Tables menu item you will be taken to a secondary wheel that has 1960s tables from both Visual Pinball and Future Pinball.

I setup MAME games on a secondary wheel. A menu item gets me to that wheel. That way I just have pinball on my main wheel. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If you want to play TWD and you have a plunger then you must use a modified VP. TWD is not yet supported in VP9 or VP10. http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=30971 and you will have to get your support at VPUniverse rather than VPForums. VPUniverse is where I host my Visual PinMAME builds that support the official Stern TWD code. The game code itself is also hosted at VPUniverse or you can get it at Stern. You will also need the DirectX 9 runtime unless you have it installed already. I think gtxjoe, a member here, has several video tutorials that are fairly up-to-date on YouTube. I have not viewed them myself, but that's where folks new to Visual Pinball often get directed.

You don't have too many. You have your VP8 assigned to a name "C:\Visual Pinball" and your VP9.21 assigned to a name "C:\Visual Pinball". Those are invalid names. You need to use something like "Visual Pinball 8" and "Visual Pinball 9.21" and then, of course, you have to have the proper tables that you want to run with VP8 included in the xml file (or Game Manager), the proper tables that you want to run with VP9.21 included in the xml for that system, and so on... Read this. It's not exactly up-to-date with the latest features but it at least explains how to set up the databases. http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/13735-calling-all-pinballx-gurus-and-smes-documentation-challenge/page-3#entry132675

Well, he IS the Procrastinator. This tool can do screenshots by individual table or in batches: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/15207-capture-videos-to-pinballx-media-table-backglass-and-dmd/page-12#entry153164

Thanks. As far as I can tell from your description I was running OBS the same way you were. Those files might tell me what else is different that I am not doing. I discovered a solution using ffmpeg for capturing and streaming the DMD using the localhost network loop. I flip the stream on playback on my third screen. I use this where a game does not support flipping, such as Pinball FX2. I can even change the DMD color. I published the scripts elsewhere on this forum. I do use DSR with TPA, but I don't use the camera mod. I'm not invested in TPA at this point, so I haven't worked on trying to incorporate it in my cab yet.

I'm pretty sure it is fixed to alpha order. If it has to be on the main wheel, try adding a space before MaLa in the description tag of the xml file. Or, setup as a menu item which will take you to a secondary wheel where MaLa can be started.

Thanks for this. I'm still working on getting OBS to capture FP in Windows 10. Had everything working well enough in Win 7. My FP config was already setup for 'monitor capture'. I've tried setting the executable to run as admin and with Windows 7 compatibility. Can you share your profile and xconfig files for your playfield capture? Also, have you gotten around to testing OBS Multi-platform?

Ugh! I'm ready to wrap it up. I've got a pile of toys just sitting there waiting for me to install. I'm more comfortable with software than hardware.- 8 replies

Sounds like your problem happens with very large table files? You might try a dB2S that is smaller size or a static backglass. Or (outside of PinballX) - increase the Skip lamp frames and/or Skip solenoid frames in the Performance tuning section in db2s backglass settings Or in VP -> Preferences -> Video Options dialing down Max Texture Dimension Turning off AA and/or AO or try the newer VPX betas - the devs have been working on increasing performance in the last few days but this is beta so it would be experimental In other words, if most of your tables are working even the VPX ones that are smaller file size then it doesn't seem like it is a PinballX issue. VPX is a fairly new system for most users. Many have found that this requires some re-tuning of their system to find the sweet spot again for good performance for the new graphics features that VPX introduces. And table authors are still figuring out how to optimize their tables for good performance on a broad base of hardware configurations. Hope this helps.

Exiting a game takes you straight to desktop ( help )!

It will help having the log and ini file to confirm what is happening. When it exits to the desktop is PinballX no longer running? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

You are going to have to give a lot more information than that! What game? What menu? What setup? -
PinballX Enhancements/Features Requests
Carny_Priest replied to Draco1962's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
As somebody helping out with problems, I request that the Settings Wizard write a backup of pinballx.ini if any changes are made and that there would be included a way to revert to a backup if there is a problem. Even better if there were some extended version control for those situations where a user may say, "Hey! Everything was working perfectly last Sunday before I added System X and now nothing works!" Thanks! -
Haven't tried it yet, but as far as I know there is no cab support just yet which means single monitor, playfield. Of course, PinballX can be used to display a static backglass, keys can be re-mapped. DMD may possibly be mirrored as I did for SlamIt: Big Score, but there would be some small amount of latency which could make video modes flaky to play. GOG versions from 20 years ago, those are all landscape orientation so I don't think would be as suitable for cabs. There is a nice VP version of The Web with DMD and original soundtrack, an effort explicitly allowed but not directly supported by the Pro Pinball license holder.
