  1. This is old documentation, but it still applies for what you are asking to do: Read the section on Custom Groups and Lists. It is doable to arrange VPX on the main wheel (use Visual Pinball.xml for example) and fill out secondary wheels with all the rest of your tables.
  2. I use the VP slot to run a AutoHotkey based launcher: All tables are in a single folder. I suppose you could modify the script to use individual table folders and/or VP executable, but I think that adds labor to housekeeping. I keep all tables in one folder and use the xml as my reference. All my executables are in the same folder. I'm only using three: 992, physmod5 with the plunger mod, and the latest VPX beta.
  3. Nothing wrong with this. It will work, but the same functionality already exists in PinballX using the alternateexe tag. I just think some of these features are not well documented, though.
  4. Yes, I use a single custom xml with an exe tag that stores the executable to use. Saves on housekeeping. Don't have to keep up with media on separate systems or use symbolic links to fool PinballX. I don't use Game Manager. I create or collect all of my own media.
  5. When you throw the mains off does that mean that you are cutting power without doing a normal Windows shutdown?
  6. I don't think it should make a difference, but I have gotten into the habit of setting ALL my pinball related executables to run as admin to bypass issues of read/write access to supporting files. If you are shutting down with a master switch are you sure PinballX is exiting cleanly? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Well, not a UAC issue. Do you currently have or did you have in the past a PinballX installation in any other location? Are you running PinballX.exe and Settings.exe as administrator? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Where on your drive do you have PinballX installed? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Where there is a will there is a way. If you absolutely could not get b2s and exclusive full screen going for a couple of tables, You could set those up in a separate system and use an AutoHotkey script to change the fullscreen key in the VP registry before you launch VPX and then change it back after you quit. You would use the RegRead and RegWrite functions.
  10. Yes, that's the best way to go. It's still the standard setup where the display is set up in landscape and you allow the simulator to rotate the playfield for you. But I did not know if your hardware was set up in a way where this would not work for you. Some people can't swivel their physical screen from portrait to landscape and vice-versa and don't want to crane their necks when outside of PinballX. In that case, you could run a little rotate.exe utility that can switch the desktop landscape to protrait with a hotkey or you can run a little batch file to rotate the desktop as you enter and exit PinballX.
  11. Lots of ways to do it. What is your setup? Are you running on a desktop with rotating monitor? Multiple displays? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. VPX - Preferences ->. Video Options... Check Use always FS backdrop settings If that doesn't work, you will need to go to open up the table Click the Backdrop button and then the Options button. Change XY rotation setting under the FS column to 270. The rest of the settings will need to be adjusted according to your preferences. F6 Camera/Light Mode may help you dial it in. But I've never used that function. All other VP versions - you will need to find an FS or cab version of the table. Most tables have one.
  13. https://www.cambiaresearch.com/articles/15/javascript-char-codes-key-codes I'd be curious to see if it works with PinballX. For my cab, I just placed an exit button under the cab. The forward facing part of the cab just has start, extra ball, and launch buttons. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. O I have not gone so far as to uninstall. If you are willing to put more effort against this, I'm willing to test. Least I can do.
  15. Just get one card to run three screens. There is no performance benefit in putting in two cards. If one of those cards is decent enough and fits your mb, you may not need a new card right away. I run a GTX 660. It's over three years old now and everything still runs well with it. It's just pinball. Not nearly as graphically demanding as some of these other gaming genres out there.
  16. Oh, you're right. Well, take it up the chain to that rep's manager and see if that mod has any sort of "official" sanction. I'm kind of doubting it. I do like that there are those in the community that are taking the bull by the horns and enabling cab users to add a lot of capabilities to TPA: fixed camera, backglasses, real DMD, and some feedback support. Even with all of that, I don't see it adding anything that Visual Pinball does not already do. But I would like to see these capabilities develop further to support Stern Pinball Arcade on a cab. It may be the only way to get latter day SPIKE based games on a virtual cab in the foreseeable future. Of course, it is not to say that FS may design it in such a way to make it impossible to work on a virtual cab. I guess we'll just have to see.
  17. I don't believe that FS supports or promotes the mod. PinballArcadeFans is not a FarSight Studios site AFAIK.
  18. Yes, FS tweaked the UI again in a pretty big way. Tables are grouped in three lists: A-F, G-Q, and R-Z. Scrolling within each group is "OK" although I think it would require different key delays than what PinballX is currently offering. Movement between groups is kind of funky. It can probably be worked out again, but who wants to do this every month? Might as well wait until development on the UI is done... if ever. If I were just a touch more cynical, I'd say that they are doing this to ruin the experience specifically for cab users.
  19. Feature request: random backglass videos Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. FYI, FCM is now up to date with the latest TPA. Table selection works perfectly fine with it. Thanks!
  21. Yes, a faulty database xml can crash the program. Have you added any entries lately? A file name or game name with a special character that is not recognized by xml is usually the culprit. Could be an ampersand? You can view and edit an xml file with Notepad.
  22. Meaning that I have a minimal investment in TPA. I only have four tables: the free table and the three in the launch pack from way back in Season 1. Don't get me wrong. TPA is fun to play, but there isn't anything there that is not already done with more flair by the Visual Pinball community. It is also nice to play the trial versions on my iPad when I am away from the cab. With PinballX, FCM, DOFFX2, and dmdext filling in the support gaps that Farsight won't cover, it is becoming a worthwhile platform for cab users.
  23. Oops. I didn't realize that the WaitFor setting was disabled. With the latest exe, I can consistently get the correct tables selected with WaitFor=9 and Table Select Delay - long. And it is launching the DX11 executable. I guess I just need to tune the lighting. Still no update for FCM which would put the icing on the cake, but it all seems to be working well for me. Might even be worth purchasing some tables some day.
