No matter how hard I try I cannot beat the score I got at a New Jersey Yestercades. Playing Crystal Castles without THE trackball is like playing Tempest without a dial. 181,903

One of my favorite games, though I definitely can't compete with you lot. Just beat my top score last week, I sadly entered the wrong initials and then sadly forgot that you can "Rub" in Robotron. 287,725

Feature & Enhancement Requests
murve33 replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
+1 for Star Ratings. It's the only feature that I feel GameEx is lacking. It could be just like a music player with the star ratings of each game to the right of the game title (of course it'd be customizable). And while the 5-Star system is just fine, it'd really be awesome if 1/2 Stars were doable. -
I went to Yestercades in both Red Bank and Somerville New Jersey a couple of days ago and I was in awe by how beautiful the original Asteroids/Asteroids Deluxe vectors were. I'd never seen them on the original cabinets, only multigames and emulated. I know it's not possible to emulate the brightness of a vector monitor or the extra bright bullets, but I've seen some screenshots of MAME + HLSL Configurations that make Vector Games look at least a little better. Only problem is, whenever I turn on HLSL, I just get a Black Screen with sound. Have any of you gotten MAME and HLSL to work? I'm using MAMEUI64 0.153 by the way. Here's a thread with the configuration I'm attempting and some screenshots. http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=309968&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&vc=1

Sadly my July will be far too busy (visiting family and then moving immediately after, not to mention driving 2400 miles). Knock 'em dead, boys; and count me in next time! Go team GameEx!

Never Mind. My problem was my Working Path was set to C:\Emulators\ePSXe\ePSXe. The Setup Wizard sure is weird. Anyways, just in case someone else wants to know how to play PSX without mounting, here you go. Emulator Setup 1. Rom Filter: *.cue;*.ccd;.mds* 2. Command Line: ePSXe.exe -nogui -loadbin "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Advanced Emulator Setup Scan Sub Folders: Yes Easy as Pie.

This thread looks like it would've answered all of my problems. http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/9804-epsxe-emulator-issues/ All I need are the Auxilary Files that Silver X was talking about. Sadly, it appears he doesn't frequent the GameEx forums anymore. I really don't understand why I need to mount the bin/img/isos. In Mednafen for the TurboGrafx CD I just load the .CUEs as if they're roms and I have no problems. So, anyone have these "Auxilary Files" or an alternative way to run ePSXe files without mounting them?

[GUIDE] Using Custom Menus
murve33 replied to DazzleHP's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
Great tutorial. I've successfully created some good-looking menus. One question: Where are the logos located? I'm not a fan of the default ones and I'd like to import my own. -
Thank You! I didn't realize there was a debugging feature. The problem is that the multiplayer instances aren't including the rom's extensions. For example, FCEUX is looking for "Contra" instead of "Contra.nes". So, now I just need Tempest (or someone else) to to tell me how to fix this problem (preferably using Map Magician) and then everything should be hunky-dory. Never mind. I got everything working using Adultery's Map File Maker instead. For some reason I couldn't figure it out when I used it 2 weeks ago (I thought I HAD to reference an existing map file), but this time I figured it out in like, 10 seconds. What a great application! So, this is resolved; I was beginning to think my problem was unsolvable. Quick question, is there a way for me to change the title of my thread, so I can mark it [RESOLVED] myself?

I figured I'd start a new thread since my issue has changed from basic organization to specifically Map file woes. Here's my original thread: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/14332-folders-for-emulated-games/ I want to organize my games by multiplayer and non-multiplayer (and eventually other categories). The way I'm trying to go about this is by making a separate emulator entry for each console's multiplayer library (NES, NES Multiplayer, Atari 7800, Atari 7800 multiplayer, etc.) and then linking the multiplayer instances to a map file. I made map files for each of the systems using Map Magician, but I get an error every time GameEx tries to access them. What can I do? My log is listed below; I've attached my map file, the normal Atari 7800 emulator instance, and the Multiplayer Atari 7800 emulator instance. Okay okay, never mind. It's not working, but... Balloon Fight works because it's at the top of my list since I've tested it so much. When I run the top instance the game loads, but when I run the main-group instance, I still get the error message. Here's a rough text illustration: ------------------------------ Balloon Fight <-- Works ------------------------------ ------------------------------ Action 52 ------------------------------ Archon ------------------------------ Balloon Fight <-- Doesn't Work ------------------------------ Clu Clu Land ------------------------------

Edit: Nevermind Now this is just weird. I was concerned about the screen flickering, so I switched my .map file back to the one I made (which I attached above earlier). I went to test it out and it works. The error message is gone and the games load fine. Here's my log. I don't see anything out of the ordinary though.

Well, I tried 1. deleting all instances of emu_31 in the DATA folder. 2. deleting all instances of emu_31 .cache & .cacheini 3. deleting all instances of emu_31 .cache Same thing happened every time. GameEx would start flickering when I selected "NES Multiplayer" from the main menu, and then I'd get the same error message. It's so weird that changing the .map file makes such a difference. Here's my log from #3.

Where are the cache files located? In case its related to my problem, I ran the new map file without deleting the cache files and got this error message.

Thanks, Tempest. Map Magician is awesome by the way. I now have the map files in the right places, and separate Emulator Entries for All Games/Multiplayer Games. Everything looks exactly as it should within GameEx as well. But, there's one big problem. I can't run any of the multiplayer games from the Multiplayer Emulator Entries. When I try to open "Balloon Fight" for "NES Allgames" it runs. But when I try to run "Balloon Fight" for "NES Multiplayer" FCEUX tells me "Error opening "C:\Emulators\FCEUX\NES Roms\Balloon Fight (U) [!]"". The only difference between "NES Allgames" and "NES Multiplayer" is the map file. Since the log doesn't report anything out of the ordinary, I've attached my NES Multiplayer Map File and the NES Multiplayer instance of the Emulator. 2-Player Nintendo NES.zip Nintendo NES Multiplayer Games.ini

Oh good, It was gaplus.zip. I'll use Revision D on my new version of MAME when I try to beat the score later.
-
That's odd. I know a few of my Namco roms required some extra files (51xx, 54xx) but Gaplus wasn't one of them. And according to one of my go-to romsites, it doesn't require any other files to run. Edit: Make sure you do have Revision D and not B. Yes!! Gaplus!! So much better than Galaga or Galaxian and yet so underrated. I'll get the ball rolling with: 142,400 Edit2: It appears I was using Revision B for that score. I dunno if you want to count that or not. I'll try Rev D at some point.
-
Alright, I've successfully made a map file. I know how to make separate emulator entries from scratch, but is there any way I can just duplicate my existing emulator and just re-name it (Ex: Nintendo NES to Nintendo NES [2-Player])? That would speed up the process immensely.

It worked! Had to go to the setup wizard to deactivate it after extracting. It was called "In-Game Key" under "In-Game Pause". Thank you.
-
Any news on this? It sure is annoying. I can't use the letter P on my computer systems. My theory is that the last version called it the "Pause Menu" and the new version refers to it as the "In-Game Menu" so maybe that isn't translating well in the depths of some config file.

Never mind. It didn't solve anything (I was away from my computer at the time). I cleared the "In Game" box (it was set to F10 to begin with anyway) and the problem still persists.
