  1. I don't know why more guys aren't playing this one. It's a lot of fun when you dig into it. The gameplay is really cool. Graphics are great. I don't get it. Is everyone putting a boycott on it because of who the Game represents? If you look past the title, it is a cool as heck beat em up game! A little bump upwards... 100,110
  2. MODERATOR EDIT - THIS ENTRY HAS BEEN DEEMED DISQUALIFIED Let's get the New Year kicked off the right way! 119,800 MAM Starting Ships ---- 3 Free man ----- every 10000 Looks like a good score, but for the amount of time I've spent on this hectic horizontal shooter, that score should be way higher. MO
  3. Oh, one more thing: Do yourself a favour and DO NoT use Hyperspace on this game. The pros never use it, and anyone that is good at Defender says the same thing. It only gets you in trouble. So mapping the controls just got a bit easier: Up - up Down - down Button 1 - fire Button 2 - thrust Button 3 - reverse Button 4 - Smart Bomb Good luck guys!!!
  4. I play the Red Label Defender. Default Dips: Starting Ships: 3 Bonus Ship: every 10,000 points I remember playing this in a past tournament. Twin Galaxies requests that you start with 5 ships, but no bonus ships after scoring 10000. That,to me, is suicide. Even the pro gamers were topping out at around 150k, so what does that tell you? I agree, this is one of the toughest video games in existence! For example, it took me about 300 hours of playing time just to reach 100k!! This game will rob you of your sanity if you let it!! MO
  5. Cmon guys, don't be afraid of this one! It is sooo much fun once you get the hang of it. So come one, come all. Play Defender and have a ball! I'll grace the boards with a score sometime today.....
  6. OK, maybe MO isn't ready to challenge the top spot right now. I just had a 188k game. Oh well. I'm ready to venture into that ever so tough game of Defender now! P$. HAPPY NEW YEARS, FELLOW GAMERS!!! HERES HOPING OUR COMPETITION WILL LAST FOR ANOTHER YEAR. WE HAVE BEEN IN EXISTENCE FOR A GOOD 3 YEARS NOW. LETS MAKE IT 4.
  7. Hm hm hm, give MO an inch and he'll take a mile!!!! Last minute efforts in progress....
  8. Hey, theres a glimpse of my YungJedi buddy!! Nice to see ya again, pal!
  9. Bye, bye, TiF. 149,430 Round 11. I have to come clean, there were 4 'B's that fell on me, that is really lucky. But hey, everything is legit here!
  10. 111,720 Now there is no way I could accomplish such a score as this with a mouse or trackball. I am proud to say I received a custom kick-ass game controller from my brother this year at Christmas time. It is equipped with an 8 way, a PacMan style 4 way, a handful of buttons AND a spinner!!!! Playing Arkanoid with a spinner is essential if you want to get anywhere. Sure enough, it didn't take long for me to hit 100k and land myself in second. Fun, fun ,fun!!! Have a look at the second photo to see my new kick-ass game controller!! MO
  11. The most complicated AI implemented into the ghosts hands down is the Blue Character, or Inky. Have a closer look at it in the article, Patrickfx. It will open your eyes on how these mofos really roll. MO
  12. Gave it another run, but only got 250k..
  13. Damn! Just when I thought I was making Cynicaster nervous by getting within 30 k of his Personal Best, he drops a 300k+ game. Very impressive. You are now PAST Brian Kuh territory!!
  14. No Patrickfx, you were not hallucinating. The PacMan character, under special circumstances, can and will pass through a monster in' non-frightened' mode. Here is an in-depth explanation of the phenomenon: Just Passing Through It wasn't too long after the release of Pac-Man when word began to spread of players occasionally passing straight through a ghost unharmed, seemingly at random. This rumor turned out to be completely true as most die-hard Pac-Man players can attest. If you play the game long enough, you will eventually see Pac-Man run into one of the ghosts and come out unscathed on the other side-it doesn't happen very often so enjoy it when it does! Some players have even gone so far as to incorporate this mysterious pass-through oddity into their patterns. The root cause of this elusive peculiarity lies in the way the game detects collisions between Pac-Man and the four ghosts. Any time Pac-Man occupies the same tile as a ghost, he is considered to have collided with that ghost and a life is lost. It is irrelevant whether the ghost moved into Pac-Man's tile or Pac-Man into the ghost's-the result is the same either way. This logic proves sufficient for handling collisions more than 99% of the time during gameplay, but does not account for one very special case: The above picture illustrates the conditions necessary to produce this curious behavior. There are five consecutive frames showing Blinky and Pac-Man passing through each other. Below each frame is the same scene represented by the tiles they currently occupy and the per-pixel location of their center points. Pac-Man and Blinky are at just the right position and speed relative to one another to cause them to swap tiles with each other simultaneously. In other words, Pac-Man's center point moves upwards into Blinky's tile in the same 1/60th of a second that Blinky's center point moves downwards into Pac-Man's tile, resulting in them moving past each other without colliding. Note that Pac-Man's origin point is centered on the top edge of his tile in frame four; this is still considered to be inside the bottom tile, but moving up one more pixel will push him over the edge into the next one. Pac-Man and Blinky have now swapped tiles with each other in frame five, and Pac-Man can go on his merry way because he never "collided" (i.e., shared the same tile) with Blinky at all! Click on the YouTube video below to see an example of the pass-through bug (it happens 40 seconds after playback begins):
  15. 'Tis the season to play classic video games. Believe me, I've been doing plenty of that! So without further ado, right here is MO's Personal Best on one of the best classic games in existence: Donkey Kong. --------228,500-------- I was riding one man from the start of level 5 to the end of the game! The only disservice here is the fact that I don't move up any spots on the Leaderboard. But hey, I am really happy that I finally broke the 200k barrier!! If video games were drugs, I would be a hopeless and severe Addict!! MO
  16. Yeah, that is a long time. I still check this site regularly. Love it. What I also like doing is steadily improving on a game. While the nut is hardly cracked on DKJr, it does have a noticeable chip in it. 60,800 MO
  17. Oh, did I mention that I suck at this game? It's tough for me, that is for sure.
  18. Here is a couple of tips necessary to know about Ms. PacMan: - there are only a couple of differences in the ghosts A.I. between PacMan and MsPacMan. One difference you MUST know about is the fact that MsPacMans ghosts will change directions only twice per board. PacMan's ghosts can switch directions up to 8 or 9 times per board. This will make "hiding spots" in MsPacMan way easier and safer to use. - exploit the "hiding spots".
