Tried one last thing. I disconnected the TV and played on the laptop screen. as soon as I exited the emulator i got the good ol black screen and had to reboot.

Dunno If this helps or not but attached is a comparison log of both the MSI and Alienware if you notice there are instructions missing from the MSI. I dunno if Game Ex is crashing after I exit the emulator or not. But the comparison logs point to that. Both are setup the same, permissions etc. I may not be able to run Game Ex on my MSI laptop. I can manually exit emulators and change no problem. I just cant use Game Ex on this machine and do it. I'll live. I appreciate everyone's input Proof.txt

well wasn't working before the driver updates. thought maybe as Draco suggested. I updated the video driver. I also reinstalled 32 bit instead of 64 bit. No luck on my MSI stealth. At this point Ill just wait on updates and keep installing them. By the by auto update doesn't work on either. Umm its right above you sir in comparison the MSI Is missing a complete set of instructions from what I can tell. I am running 64 Bit on both. I wonder should I go Back to 32 bit.

got to work and fired up the alienware laptop. yep definitely something weird going on. the log file from the msi is missing a complete set of instructions. now as to why I dont know. I see it says invalid path for steam. but the path is actually where steam is. log.txt

Ok, I updated to the latest video drivers. Poured over this ini and log file. Maybe my eyes aren't trained enough. Still black screen after exiting a game and have to restart. log.txt GameEx.ini

I have the latest version of Game Ex installed on my Alienware Laptop and my MSI Stealth Laptop. On my Alienware laptop I can start and exit emulators no problem. But for some reason on the MSI Stealth when I exit out of a emulator I get a black screen and have to restart to use my laptop again. Has any1 ran into this before? and if so how was it corrected? I am using 64 bit versions on both and nothing special tweaked.

hey people, real quick. for this to work you need to have show desktop enabled (at least thats what I had to do). If your system/core is not listed just add it. Make sure your core name is correct. Now I gotta find that map file maker thingy to make things look nice and neat.

Thank U Draco, Seems like getting it to work is a lil above my pay grade. I think I'll find emulators in the list that are in the setup wizard. Ima look on google for command line options for things like Cemu and Rcps3

Havent been on here in years. was wondering if there was a way to use Retroarch in Game Ex. If someone could point me to a current setup guide that would be great.

Any of those map file Makers been updated to run on modern machinery? I don't have a XP machine anywhere at the moment. I would love to make a couple map files.

Sure I am at work currently and this one is from my work computer which when Steam is enabled in GameEx I get 6 out of 12. GameEx.ini

I was wondering if someone could be so kind if they have Steam running in their setup to please post the GameEx.ini. I would like to see how to manually edit so I can have it running. The workaround I found works but would rather do it without the workaround. I thought with the update Steam would work but I still only get 2 out of 51 games.

Found the culprit finally. It was the map file. it had a syntax error in it. had a "}" instead of a "|" on the last line. Messed up everything. I corrected the map file on the user submitted thread also. *Closed*

Good point cause thru it all I'm smiling. I'll post other findings once I start testing again.

I'm sorry if you perceive it as rude. I am quite calm. Because I miss ppl of years past don't take it personally. It ain't that deep. U don't see me attacking ppl personally. So back up off me Mr RedDog. Thank you. Yes Draco it works fine outside of game ex. As a rule of thumb i always make sure stuff works outside of Game Ex before trying to add it in. Here's where I'm at I'm slowly changing things one at a time. I started with the theme. The next thing I tried was no video snaps. Still same result. The next on my list is to find my old Game Ex backup and copy the Atomiswave logo from it to see if the current time one is somehow corrupted. Again thanx Draco. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well after doing countless searches I've come up with squat. Even tried theme changing. No dice. Thanx anyways hopefully Tom can have a looky when he Getz a chance

Man, I've been gone from here like 5-6 years. I realize time things and people do change. But I do miss the likes of Adultery, Frequency, and Tempest. This place isn't what I remember. I love Game Ex and believe it's a perfect all in one solution. But I dunno what happened between then and now. Stuff seems a lil harder to implement. Maybe it's just me I don't know. Ima sit back and hope whatever is wrong is fixed in the next update. I don't believe it's my settings because they are identical to my NAOMI & Hikaru settings. Infinity out.
