Nologic, Here's the first one...I re-did them with the instructions you gave after you got home, so all should be ok. Let me know if you have any problems. Game_Boy_Files.zip

I'm sorry if I'm being a pain, but I want to do this right. I'm working on Nintendo Gameboy - Europe. I assume this is what Nologic wants: Chessmaster, The (USA, Europe) (Rev A).zip|Chessmaster, The Chessmaster, The (USA, Europe).zip| How about these: (I would guess it doesn't matter) Taz-Mania (Europe).zip|Taz-Mania Taz-Mania (USA, Europe).zip|Taz-Mania If I find a pair like this: Asterix & Obelix (Europe) (En,Es).zip|Asterix & Obelix Asterix & Obelix (Europe) (Fr,De).zip|Asterix & Obelix Which one should I Choose? I don't want to get into trouble for discrimination. I am using microsoft word, whwn I went to save the file,It warned me that I would lose formatting if I saved it as a text file. I'm almost sure that it is ok to save it as a text file, and then rename it to filename.map. Am I right? Lastly, In Nologics original post, he said: [b]For games that are offered with two names...these can be found by searching for the "~" symbol... I do not get any results when I search for the ~ symbol. Maybe I shouldn't be using Word at all? I hope at this point that you guys aren't thinking that it would be faster to do it yourself. Its just that I need to know exactly what you want to do this right.
-
I was definately joking, you guys have been a great, and I would like do something to help out. This seems like a simple enough project for me, unless I totally don't understand what Nologic was asking for, Hence the questions in my previous post. So let me know if I am understanding what he is looking for, and I will work on it.
-
I am willing to help, Can I apply the credit towards future questions? I downloaded Game_Boy_File, and opened it with notepad, but it doesn't show the ~ symbol, Will Microsoft word work? Oh and you would only be striping on the right side of the pipe symbol "|". Striping? I ASSUME that if I find: game game(reva) That I would totally delete the entry for Game, is this correct? if not can you give me an example of what you want? I am currently unemployed, so I have plenty of time, and this kind of tedious work is right up my alley. If you guys have something more important to do, leave these to me.If I don't get them done this weekend, I've got all week. I wouldn't mind freeing you up for more help in the future.

I got it! I started playing a few more games (I like playing the games, but the biggest game of all, is making this all work) and I found that the horizontal games were rotated 90 degrees, while the vertical games were oriented properly. FYI: My montitor is horizontal I had the GUI for Raine set up for no rotation. When I turned rotation on, all of the games (both horizontal and vertical) display correctly. Now, I don't know if this is dumb or not, but it doesn't make any sense to me..... Thanks for trying!

I installed the latest version, and tried running runlastgame.bat (did you want me to post the GX log?), but I still have the same problem... the command line from GX log is: RUNNING: cmd.exe /c C: raine32.exe -nogui -game -arknoid2 I know you guts are trying hard, but you have to think REALLY dumb! Edit: Maybe I'm misleading you, at a closer glance, its not the same GUI that I would see when running Raine. I can see it for a second before the game starts, and it says "Applying graphic layouts" (white text, dark blue box) with some other text above it that is cut in half horizontally (white text black box outlined in white). I hope this helps.

I've had computers not boot becaause of problems with dust. Is yours clean?

Raine32 1.0.3 I noticed that when I start a game in Raine that the Gui disappears (black screen) then the game pops up. Why would it be any different in Gameex? If the command line is -nogui, why would the gui show at all?
-
I won't even pretend to understand what you just said, I'm sure it is perfectly Nological! Some one here in the forums (Bkenobi?) says that If you can make it run correctly outside of Gameex, then you can make it work inside of Gameex. It does run correctly by itself, so if the theory is true, then it should be able to run with Gameex. Usually when I need help, its because I'm doing something dumb. So the real question is can you think as dumb as I can? I just need a nudge in the right direction.....As Always I Appreciate The Help!

I changed a couple of things in my config to match Nologic's latest Raine config: showdesktop=false Command=raine32.exe -nogui -game [ROM] This did not help.....Ideas?

Brian, Here's a screen shot, but the GUI doesn't show in it. I think I would have to agree that it is not running fullscreen, or it would show in the screenshot. I have full screen selected in the GUI, I couldn't find anything on a command line option for fullscreen. In the Rain32_sdl config, it shows: [General] run_count = 16 version = 65539 LimitSpeed = 1 frame_skip = 0 ShowFPS = 0 UseRdtsc = 1 UseLEDS = 1 save_game_screen_settings = 0 auto_save = 0 UseCompression = 1 [Display] video_mode = 0 screen_x = 800 screen_y = 600 scanlines = 0 stretch = 2 video_fps = 15 rotate = 0 flip = 0 no_rotate = 0 no_flip = 0 auto_mode_change = 0 fix_aspect_ratio = 1 prefered_yuv_format = 0 fullscreen = 1 double_buffer = 1 Just a reminder, the display is correct outside of gameex....Thanks!

I thought I posted this yesterday, but I don't see it - I've been having internet problems - so if it's a double post, I apologize. I have Raine running fine by itself, but when I run it in Gameex, I can see the Raine GUI behind the game I'm playing: Arkanoid 2 revenge of DOH My config is: [Emulator_4] Enabled=True StartPageName=Raine TitleText=Raine StartPageLogo=Raine RomFilter= RomPath=C:\Emulators\raine\roms SnapPath=C:\MAME32\video snap TitlePath=C:\Emulation\Assets\Arcade\Raine\Titles\ BoxPath=C:\Emulation\Assets\Arcade\Raine\Boxes\ CartPath=C:\Emulation\Assets\Arcade\Raine\Cartridges\ ManualPath=C:\Emulation\Assets\Arcade\Raine\Manuals\ ControlPanelPath=C:\Emulation\Assets\Arcade\Raine\Controls\ WorkingPath=C:\Emulators\raine MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=False ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=False RemoveBrackets=True ShowDesktop=True Debug=False MAPFile=[APP]\Map Files\[Arcade] Raine.map AlsoLaunch= Command=raine32.exe -n -game [ROM] OLDatZip= LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= configFile=[Mapping Off] Exit (Process Close) ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic=False DontShowInfo= PlaySelectionMusic=False SelectionMusicFolder= PCGame=False DATABASE=[Arcade] Raine GamesIn7Zips=False PlayInScreenSaver=False ShowMostPlayed=True RandomMostPlayed=False CDCheck=False CDCheckFile= I know my artwork paths are wrong. But that shouldn't matter.... This should be the standard config from Gameex. I would have thought that the -n in the command line would have taken care of it. I did make a couple of changes in the Rain32_sdl config, but since it runs OK on its own, that shouldn't be an issue.....

Does anyone know if this has been updated to work with the 4 way diagonal games? It doesn't say so on the plugins page.....

Nologic, Outstanding! I download the xvid codec and everything works! I've read enough posts to know that you guys already know this, but you guys are the s**t! I am beginning to believe that the best kind of logic is Nologic! Thanks to everyone who helped with these three questions .... time to start a new list

I appreciate the response, that's two out of three questions answered... Care to take a shot at #1? 1. most of my snaps are not displaying as I go through my mame game list. I checked my paths, made sur that the image names match the game names, changed themes, and I had gameex update the lists (just for good measure), and most of the snaps don't show up. They used to, and I'm sure I did something, but I don't know what. Edit: I forgot to mention this, but when scrolling through the games list, I get random noises, like Gameex is trying to play part of an audio file - different sounds for different games... Dwight replied: 1. Can you see the snaps in explorer OK? What format are they/ I answered back: 1. Yep - they are there. I double (quadruple) checked the path in configuration / Basic Mame Settings. Then (just to make sure) I checked the path in the Gameex.cfg - just in case it was read only or something stupid. I have 6582 images, unzipped, all in png format, however most of them do not display.

I found this link http://xoomer.alice.it/guncon2/VideoCon3.htm Is this the right way to hook them up? I don't want to ruin a bunch of equipment with a bad idea - I prefer to do it all on my own!

I looked around on the net for another 1 1/2 hours, and I can't find anything conclusive about hooking up lightguns to a pc monitor. (Alot of broken links, and circles to run around in.) I don't know if you are up for it or not, but It looks like I need step-by-step instructions for hooking up the Guncons. Can you recommend a site to go to? Am I missing something? 3. Thanks for the tip, more memory it is!

I do have the Namco models, so i should be able to just plug in the USB for power. Right? I was more concerned about the video connection and how to hook up the composite to VGA. I'm assuming that the guns will still be using scanlines to work properly. You mention hacking a PS2 extension cable, that doesn't have anything to do with video does it? Keep in mind that I really don't know what I'm talking about, so I probably am not asking the right questions.

questions / problems I have been going through the forums, but I couldn't find answers to these... 1. most of my snaps are not displaying as I go through my mame game list. In another thread, Bkenobi suggested that I use the Guncon2 lightguns, which I think is a great Idea since I already own two of them, but how do I hook them up? I am using a PC (CRT) VGA monitor. The monitor also has DVI inputs. 3. My PC is an Intel Celeron (I believe its a p4) 2.4Ghz, 512Mb Ram. I have visual pinball running fine, but future pinball runs slow. Any sugggestions for config changes? I read somewhere in the forum that on board video should not be used, so I am looking for advice on a new video card. There are so many choices, the only thing I know is that I don't want to spend $600. I'm hoping to fix some of the slower games. Or maybe a video card won't help? Thanks again!

I'm taking a poll. Which light guns (I would like to use 2) work the best? In case you've read my earlier posts, I turned my monitor back to its original horizontal position, so that is not an issue anymore.

I couldn't remember why I had done this, so I checked it out both ways. 1. Gamex and Mame games do display correctly while using the rotate feature in Gameex, however (obviously) The OS is sideways, so it is a little difficult to work on. So I rotated the video card as well. 2. If I rotate only using the video card, the OS displays correctly (obviously), and the Mame games display correctly through Gameex, however th Gameex front end (loading screens, menus, etc.) does not rotate. At least not for me. I think I'm starting a whole new topic here.... From what I've read, I believe you are right, I should switch to the comand line version, I tried it with mame0.121, but I lost some of the features (no error, and other screens). I know that its possible to compile my own version, and I have actually downloaded the latest version, and the mame compiler, I just haven't taken the time to do it. There is just so much to figure out, and it really takes alot of time when its all new. Is there a site that has some of the more common patches centralized? Better yet, why isn't there a place to download the version without "nag" screens? My guess is that it would violate Mame copyright (or some such thing) But if everybody's doing it anyway..... I guess you can tell I'm not a lawyer! Maybe I should say that I am neither a geek nor a nerd, but if I had to choose I'd be a geek.

Well, I don't know if you are going to believe this or not, but I got tired of fighting everything (lightguns, zinc, nebula) in my cabinet because of my vertical monitor. So I rotated my monitor back to horizontal, changed the setting for screen rotation in MameUI32 to default, changed my Intel extreme graphics card back to no rotation, turned off rotation in Gameex, and Voila! the CPWizard displays the panels correctly. This is why I quit programming, things are just too complicated for a guy like me. I don't know how you guys do it. I still have one small problem, I don't know what started it (maybe it never stopped), but when I press "pause" the screen goes blank. (sometimes I can see the CPWizard flash for just a second) I press "escape" the game is shown again, press "pause" the game starts again, press "pause" and CPWizard displays. Let this one go for awhile, and we'll see if anyone else has this problem. If not, I'll bug you in a couple of weeks! Thanks for your continued help

I am using Mameui320.121 with a Ultimate 360 joystick, and a mini-pac controller (as far as I know, no ctrlr file) I guess you don't know what my problem is since everything worked for you. While the control panel displays all of the joystick directions for pac-man plus, it only shows the "right" direction for Ms. pac-man (not left,up,down) MAME.7z

I don't know what's going on....I didn't see the line in your post about checking the CPWizard.ini file until I started this reply. I thought I missed something, so I went back to the original post, and it's not there...... Weird! At any rate, I checked the ini, and it is correct. I will try the zip again. Let me know if there is a problem. My internet connection is very unreliable today. Tempest69.7z

Headkaze, I zipped up the mame configs, screen shots of the four games I mentioned (2 working, 2 not - you'll see the differences), and my layout.xml. the error log I sent before was after I deleted the config files. I forgot about peekn & poken, that made me smile! I actually was into machine code - no compiler! ... just a bunch of nop's now Might have found something else, when I tried to do a "save as" on my layout, it wouldn't save it to the new location, I had to copy and paste the file.
