  1. Hi there! Don't set it to "run before", just run it at the same time and it'll be fine. I also got that same error trying to run it before. If you use the debug mode, it creates a .BAT with the commands it uses to launch the emulator. Don't remember why, but if you run it "before" it just adds the call for the BAT before calling for the emulator on that file, and when it runs the .bat for xpadder it exits before even calling the emulator. (so I guess it just switches the .bat file, and when the xpadder one ends, it thinks the emulator ended and goes back to gameex. setting it as "also run" but not "before" launches the xpadder .bat file and the emulator in parallel, so finishing the xpadder bat won't return to gameex. (or this is how I think it works, anyway, it works LOL so just call for the xpadder .bat file on the "also run" instead of the "run before"
  2. Sure I have fun, but I lost my skills somewhere on the last hmmm... 20 years ROFL I must confess I never played centipede, but I'll give it a try, and meanwhile I'll try to think on a way so I could get screenshots on my cabinet with a keycombo and then I'll need something to upload them automatically to photobucket or something... hmmm...
  3. Hi there! Yeah, HARD. And this time it happened like galaga... so, suuuuure, I can get a nice high score and... what theeeeee.... fire balls everywhere chasing me! AAAAARGH! darn crabs! darn fireballs, darn fast turtles.... XD I think I'm too used to the easy modes LOL... What about wonder boy 3? please? at default setting I can play (sometimes) up to the queen bee... at least on that one I would make a decent highscore LOL
  4. wow, I'm pathetic LOL 34.010 my best. BTW, for all my scores, my sign is HLP (for helpman), using mame 0.148
  5. so my highscore's fine
  6. Hi there! For this game I changed the dipswtiches to hardest, so it's fine for the contest XD lowest score of them all, but it's on hardest mode I haven't changed the donkey kong settings as I think those are the default ones, but this one tempted me... I though I was a nice player... until I set that to hardest LOL...
  7. Hi there! hardest is hardest to me LOL... 27110
  8. way to go! 11.800! prepare to eat dust! bwa-ha-haaaaa! (cries*)
  9. Suggestion: Use game' snapshots or videos as highscore background. Suggestion: customize highscore font type, size, outline and alignment for highscore screen Suggestion: use a text scroller to display a game's highscores on the game selection screen and/or the game details (or as another picture with the snapshot or video background on the game selection screen or game info screen)
  10. Hi there! I'm not good at all with this game LOL... but wanted to try... Question is: I have it on my cabinet, no keyboard at all... just a mouse hidden inside for emergencies LOL... what about a low-tech screen capture using my cellphone's camera? I Just use the rom "as is", not changing any default settings... I hope that's fine EDITED: darn, gameex updating... but soon I'll post my deceiving "lowscore" LOL...
  11. Hi there! It would be great to at least use the game's snapshot but... oh, well... at leat I managed to change to something closer to my skin I've beem modifying the arcade84 theme to fit my taste and menu system, and there was no stats.png... found it on the default-default theme and now it looks way better I'm a big fan of wonder boy III, and it wasn't keeping the highscores for each run, that's why I wanted a highscore saving option But I'll have a look at that contest
  12. Hi there! I just tried a mame compilation without pesky nags and support for highscores (yeah!) but I find default gameex hi scores option... lacky. I would love to have the game snapshot (or even video if available) as the high scores background, and being able to increase the font size and add outline, as any other font on the frontend. I tried editing the theme I use, looking for something related to high scores, looking for the background picture on the theme's media folder... no luck. Is it even possible? how? (and just showing the high scores below the snapshot/video on the game information popup, or even use the game's high scores on a text roller on the game selection screen....?)
  13. Hi there! First time trying to compile mame 0.148 without nag and support hiscores... Mame Compiler 64v3, source code for mame 0.148 from mamedev, mametoold updated to the latest.. applied the diff for "148 - u1" (previous is 147, next is 148u2 - u4) Yet I get this result: I just have not a single clue about this. (and no exe output file yet)
  14. not exactly everything you ask, but just in case it's useful for you... I use xpadder for pinball emulators and also use a default config to set the key combo for global exit on gameex. So I create a .bat file like this: and set it to run under the advanced configuration for those emulators, on the "also run" option, so it runs at the same time as the emulator. I just make sure I'm on the right folder, as first I go to my D: drive, then look for the folder where my xpadder is and execute it. On the same folder I have my two profiles stored (as I use two joysticks on my arcade and I need to set some keys to each) on the cd "\games blahblahblah, set the route between quotes if it contains spaces. if it doesn't, then you don't need quotes when you call for xpadder.exe [profile1] [profile2] .... [profilex] it loads each profile on each joystick, so profile1 for joystick 1, profile2 for joystick2... I don't know how to set it up if you change joysticks, but I guess it would loadthem the same way, profile1 on joystick-with-id0... so it should load the profiles on the command line on the same order it detects the joysticks. (so you have 3 connected joysticks, it would load profile1 on joystick 1, profile2 on joystick 2, profile3 on joystick3.) Just guessing on this, but at least until somebody really knows how it works at least you have something to try
  15. Hi there! I'm trying to mess with the theme editor (more precisely, trying to modify an existing skin, arcade84, to better fit my arcade), but if I resize the video preview window, it changes it's size for all screens, no matter where you are. So if I change it to have a bigger preview picture/video for mame it also changes it's size for any other emulator or menu, and most screens look bad. Is there any option so if I change it for, let's say MAME, I could keep it with another size for NES or for the main menu?
  16. Hi there! I have my mame roms sorted and removed from gameex unusued ones (like casino, light gun... or others where the parent one is a 4 player rom and I need to use a clone for 2 players...) and other roms removed from gameex as I just don't like them. Now that I have my game's list tidy and as I want it, is there any option to export this as a file so I can load it in case of disaster and not having to reload the full rom set and start removing roms from the list manually again? Is there any way to export the gameex mame rom list?
  17. Hi there! Is there any option somewhere so I could instant play on the game being displayed on the screensaver? Something like "if you press 1 player button you insert coin and start playing, if you press any other key you exit the screensaver"? If there's an option like that, I can't find it... if there isn't, let me know to add it to suggestions
  18. Hi there! On the gameex setup, on advanced emulator configuration, I can set the path where controls are located, so if there's a png file (or jpg) with the name of the game, it should display it. So far, so good, but on the tooltip it also says you can define a single picture for all games. I want to set a layout for my console games, and for NES or future pinball, it's just the same layout for every game. I tried setting the picture name to default.png just in case, but it didn't work. I tried looking for some hint about it, and no luck at all. So... how can you set a single picture as default layout for all items inside an emulated system?
  19. Ok, tempest, creadits where they are due :Dyou were right too. That's my fault, though... as english is not my native language I misunderstood you, sorry
  20. It's an old arcade cabinet. The label on its side shows it was made in 1986. I though on building an upright cabinet myself with scrap parts, but found this one for 55 (cabinet, no controls, control panel with holes for 1 joystick and 3 buttons per player, holes for 1/2 player button on the front and some damages on a couple places. Hollowed it all, removed the inner coin parts and left the front of them as decoration. Painted it all, got a new glass (28), made a new control panel to get 6 buttons per player, added 4 more front buttons and 2 on each side for pinballs. Bought a usb to arcade controller with 2 joysticks, 2 player buttons and 20 colored buttons (60), a 17'' screen (7), the old dell optiplex gx280 (45), 4gb ddr2 ram (27), ati x1300 128mb video card (17), scrapped some old compuer speakers I had around, an old 320gb hard drive I had somewhere, some black paint spray cans and ready to go Overall, the total cost was around 250
  21. 2 weeks ago I never though I would have an arcade machine at home... even less since I'm unemployed and under a budget, and guess what?
  22. Hi there! I just fixed it and you were right, Solo... I tried several settings on the advanced emulator setup, just changing the advanced setup, modified the ESC map (copied it to vplauncher61) and edited it so it would send ESC key and watch for vp-launch61 and vpinball915 processes to be closed... now it closes nice and tidy. problem solved
  23. LOL it's ok, I see your point too I'll check my theory in a couple minutes, then I'll post whatever I think would be useful thanks!
  24. I'm glad you found another nice emulator I didn't know about model 3, so we helped each other
  25. Hi there! Look for model2. The emulator has this name too aldo recognised by gameex on your mame rom folder, and works great for model 2 games...
