  1. The only down side I could find with it was that there weren't many themes that supported that mode. I tried it over a year ago when Tom first released it, and there was one. It was good, but not what I needed on my cab, so I switched back. If you put together a theme for your cab using Game Launcher mode, please share it!
  2. It sounds like the script isn't exiting when the emulator quits. GameEx is watching the script, which is still running, so it's still waiting. When you kill the script, GameEx sees that it's time to take over again. Basically, the script needs to be changed to watch the emulator process or GameEx needs to be configured to watch the emulator process and kill the script when the emulator is done. I would personally opt for modifying the script, but either works.
  3. No problem. Have fun!
  4. Thanks!
  5. Ok, just thought if there was a list then we could point people to it when they came to the forum. No problem though!
  6. Yeah, I know. I thought I grabbed it but I think I was at work at the time. It didn't work the other day, so I wasn't sure if it was still broken or broken again. As it turns out, I just never updated it. Works now though!
  7. Hey Tom, is there any documentation on what is enabled/disabled when you select MAME Only or Game Launcher modes? There's another post asking about Game Launcher mode and I don't know of anywhere to point them...
  8. If you don't have some content, say boxes for a certain emulator, just leave the boxes path blank. If the feature is disabled it shouldn't matter, but the setup validation tool will still prompt you that the path is invalid. I would recommend fixing everything in red even if it's disabled, but you shouldn't absolutely have to.
  9. I haven't used Game Launcher mode in quite a while, but as I recall it only has 2 buttons available for navigation. This mode is primarily to help support use in cabinets where there are only a couple buttons available. I don't know how many people use this mode, so it's possible something slipped through the cracks. Thanks for the report. Btw, can you provide a log file for when seeing this bug in the final configuration? That might help Tom narrow down what the actual bug is.
  10. Thanks for the update! Just curious if this update fixes the problem I'm having where images from subdirectories don't save the directory name in the xml file? The problem I was having was experienced when you try to add/change an image path. If you select an image in the controllers or logos directory for example, CPWizard only fills in the name of the file. It doesn't also add the subdirectory name as well. So instead of "controllers/Nintendo 64.png" the field is filled with "Nintendo 64.png" and since this file doesn't exist in the root directory, the image doesn't display. I can manually edit the xml file for that layout and add the path back in and things work fine.
  11. The tool sWampy is referring to is found in the Setup Wizard. All you have to do is launc the Setup Wizard, go to custom, select nothing, then click ok. This will take you to the Verify Setup page. If you run through this test, it will tell you if you have any bad paths that should be checked. If nothing shows up in red, you *should* be ok.
  12. Ha
  13. I'm glad you posted this. I was just using Setup Wizard last night and the databases weren't showing up for emulators. I was thinking this was fixed, but I couldn't remember if the fix was included in 9.80 or not. I guess this answers the question! Also, I was just thinking about the auto exit feature. Is there any way to check to see if a game was paused prior to auto-exiting? I'm thinking that I would like to use this feature, but sometimes I pause a game to grab something to eat. If I came back and it had exited, then I wouldn't be too happy. If there were a way to only exit if the game was unpaused then that would be ideal. However, I don't have a clue how you would detect that, so it's unlikely that this can be incorporated. Just throwing it out there in case you had any ideas. Thanks Tom!
  14. Your roms must be zipped up, so don't extract them. Just to be thorough, do your roms play in MAME correctly? GameEx uses MAME to check the roms and validate that they are correct for that version. If MAME reports that the rom is not valid, imperfect, etc. then GameEx will treat it differently (depending on how your filters are set up). If you set the filters in GameEx to show all games even if they don't work, they should all show up. BUT, if they don't work with your version of MAME, then it doesn't matter since it will crash back to GameEx after launching.
  15. There is a setting for which codec pack you want to use for DVD and perhaps the other video content. Is it possible that the wrong codec is selected? I don't know since I only use divx and xvid for previews and commercials (no flv or mpg2). Just a thought that you might be able to use to check into things.
  16. Launch the Setup Wizard, go to search and type in 'Video'. Select 'Video/Movie Settings' and delete the path in 'Startup Video Path'. Good to go!
  17. Just email Tom and ask for his help on this one. These types of questions aren't supposed to be dealt with on the forum (there's no official rule, but it's always been done that way).
  18. Reassign it to another key than tab. You can use a combination of keys instead of a single key. Try to pick something that would likely never happen during game play like P1Down+P2Down+P1Start+P2Start or something like that. Then, go to: Input (general)->User Interface->Config Menu. Hope that helps!
  19. YEAH, that's the one! I was looking at it just the other day.
  20. One thing you could try as a test is to disable videos in your screen saver. Start the Setup Wizard and search for "attract mode". Then, just set "Play Videos too:" to "No". See if that fixes the error. If so, then we can go from there.
  21. Definitely keep us posted. I'm thinking more about doing this to have my gun games back in standard MAME again. If this works, I'm golden!
  22. The enter key can be set up to anything you want, not just enter. I have my CP set up so that I can control the menu in MAME with P1 joystick, P1B1, and quit. I don't have TAB mapped to anything although it would be a good idea. BTW, I had wondered about doing this myself a while back, but it sounded at the time like it wasn't possible. I wonder if it would be possible to send keys via AHK to do it automatically (assuming you patch MAME to disable the RAW inputs). It would be cleaner to have a way to do it natively in MAME, but I don't know how to get that set up...
  23. There is a movement among the MAMEdevs to include these types of arcade outputs. I don't recall what they are calling it, but the intent is to make it possible to control solenoids, sirens, vibrating motors, etc. in games that originally had those features. If I could remember what they were calling it, I could find a link and point you there to see the current status...
  24. Nice catch! So, the question is....what are the ramifications to doing this? What do you lose by turning off the raw input system. Or, what do you currently gain by having the raw input system? I still don't know what the advantage is, so I'm nervous about turning it off.
  25. Looks like you have DVD's set up in screen saver? I didn't think that was possible...cool. Try disabling that. Also, it would be better to post your entire log file.
