  1. I didn't know you got to be a ninja by becoming a mod. SWEEEET!
  2. This is great! I've found a problem with the documentation though. At least on the current computer I'm on when I use Firefox 3.6.17 I'm getting a repeatable crash when I scroll down ~2/3 of the way down the page. I don't have that issue with IE6. I've done no real testing to see if it's a plugin or anything else I can fix. Just FYI that there may be some issue with some users (unless my system is AFU ).
  3. Pfft... You guys and your new fangled tools. I prefer vi for editing my gameex.ini. These fancy applications are useless to me!
  4. I've never used the feature, but I believe the GameEx create snaps tool will only generate missing snaps. There are a few threads that I've read in the past that discuss this functionality, so if no one else pops in to offer conclusive advice, perhaps a search will help.
  5. I checked the data.mdb file the other day and found no mention of any of the candidate games. Although that was a bit disappointing, it was actually helpful. I wasn't sure if the game was "clean" or "mature" before, but now that don't see it in the main list, I know that it must have been played through my "mature MAME" list which is set up as a different emulator. Anyway, after narrowing that down, I played the 3 candidate games and determined which one I must have been remembering. Party Time: Gonta the Diver II / Ganbare! Gonta!! 2 (World Release)
  6. Yup, that's what I figured. What if the game wasn't in the main MAME list. I think the game may have been a mature title and loaded in a different list (second MAME instance so it could be turned off if not appropriate for the company. Mature titles are GREAT for shock value! DATA.mdb is just for MAME, isn't it?
  7. I have access on another system, so I was planning on checking there. Are you saying GameEx can export system statistics to .csv? If so, that must be a new feature (at least to me ).
  8. I remember playing a game 3 or 4 times around a year ago, but, other than a basic description of game play, I can't remember anything. I've been getting some assistance at BYOAC on finding the game that way, but I was thinking that if I were able to see a list of games played and manually parse it, that would be easiest. Unfortunately, I've been struggling with network connectivity on my cabs since we moved and can't easily log in to check the database that way. The TV and keyboard/mousing setup are less than ideal to perform this task either. SO, what file contains the number of times played? Is that the DATA.mdb file, or do I need a different one? I'll copy it to a USB stick and parse it on better setup if I can grab the data.
  9. The only issue I see is that you have to run another service or else launch a new application before the other computer tries to connect (I haven't looked to see which). I really liked concurrent login while it worked since that approach is built in to Windows (sorta...it was, then it was removed, then the hack puts it back). Either way, it works exactly like the server versions of Windows because that's how MS designed it. As far as a VNC app, though, TeamViewer looks AWESOME!
  10. I have another suggestion if you haven't already made up your mind. I have used the concurrent login hack for WinXP for years and was very happy with it. With that hack, you can have 2 logged in accounts at once with different desktops and applications on each. I have one login setup as a gamer account that automatically logs in with instant sheller and starts GameEx. The second login is an admin account that I log in remotely in order to update rom sets and change settings in GameEx. I recently moved and, when things were disassembled, I broke this setup. I haven't fixed it yet, but I can say that when it was working, it was PERFECT!
  11. Yup, no worries.
  12. I imagine that text file will be a config file called "vertical.cfg" that has the one setting with the screen to use in it. Correct?
  13. I'm not sure how to trigger it at the moment, but I know that you can launch MAME with a different command line option to change the orientation of the screen. Alternately, you could make a couple extra config files if you want to avoid the command line.
  14. Are you trying to get the jukebox to play on its own sound card (everything else plays on a second card)? If so, wouldn't it be easiest to set the jukebox software to play on a specific card rather than configuring everything else? The default would be the Windows audio driver (whatever that's called). The audio software should be able to let you pick a second card/output (well, it's more likely to have that setting than emulators). I believe WinAmp has this setting available (as do most others) so you can output to a internet stream for instance.
  15. You can probably play many gun games with a touch screen. I doubt it would be much fun though.
  16. Depending on what you want in your artwork, you might check out NASA. They have posted some extremely high resolution pictures of space stuff (nebulas, planets, etc). It's very cool, but of course it only works if that's the kind of thing you want in your artwork.
  17. I've never been a fan of the built-in CPViewer either, so I've been happily using CP Wizard since its release. HK has done a great job adding extra functionality beyond a simple CP viewer as well if that's something you want. I personally just use it for it's namesake exclusively.
  18. Just use a different theme. If you really like that theme, maybe you can edit it to use a different font.
  19. My guess is that this issue is not related to a service (at least not a MS service). Most services are very polite and run completely in the background, so you shouldn't have an issue with focus. I'd focus on things like video codecs that have a tray icon or other applications that have a splash screen. First step is to set things up so that ONLY GameEx loads. If you don't have any other program loading, you should be good. At that point, start adding applications back in to see what breaks things.
  20. Whenever GameEx minimizes, it's always related to some other process stealing focus. The usual way to fix it is to determine what else is loading and at least temporarily disabling it to verify the problem is fixed. How to get things working again once you determine the issue process can be more complicated (or very simple potentially). It also wouldn't hurt to post a log file.
  21. It's green! And a new icon, too.
  22. Never heard of it, but sounds pretty simple. You can have a different .ini file for vertical and horizontal games in MAME, so you could just set the monitor number to the appropriate location in each file and you'd be done.
  23. I use a steering wheel (spinner), but I don't navigate by images. I navigate with a text list, so there's no need to move horizontally.
  24. I haven't updated today (it didn't tell me I needed to, so...), but the last time I had this issue, the resolution was to manually update. The problem in that case was that a user input was required for something and the installer was timing out since it wasn't getting my response. With a manual update, I was able to enter the response and things proceeded. Not necessarily applicable here, but worth a mention.
