  1. Mega Duck looks like a GB clone!
  2. IMO, since this is really a pure arcade/console theme, that is the correct answer! If this were focussed more on media center things (DVD, music, etc) and it were wide screen then it should have weather etc. I'm excited about this because it focuses SOLELY on the game systems and it maintains a 4:3 ratio which these systems all ran on. I'm not against the new content or 16:9, but since that's not what I'm running, all the new themes that use them are less interesting to me.
  3. Looks freaking awesome! I don't expect a date (as you said), but is there a list of emulators you are still working through until you are "complete"? If so, approximately how many more to go? I'd take a week per emulator since I suck at Photoshop, but you seem to be knocking these out pretty quickly with GREAT results.
  4. Couldn't he buy a new license to get the deal?
  5. I'd actually use my Logitech Rumblepads more than likely. Although the control panel is much closer to the stick the TI used, I find consoles generally better with a gamepad. Neither the CP or a gamepad will fully emulate how hard that stick used to bite your hand if it was in the wrong spot when jammed in the right direction! Btw, what emu are you using? I've tried a few, but not recently. Except for the keyboard requirement, they generally ran pretty well as I recall.
  6. Multires is a tool that's used to change resolutions, but that's not the one I was thinking of. I believe it's called AvRes. That and many others are available on the BYOAC wiki page: http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Utilities
  7. Mmmmmmmm, TI-99/4A. That was my first system! Anyone know if it's actually playable at this point (on arcade controls)? I tried to get it working a while back, but the fact that you have to press 1 or 2 to load the main program was an issue. Btw (and back on topic), am I missing a link to download this theme, or are you waiting till it's all done to post it? It looks awesome!
  8. There's a utility to do this, but I've never used it. I think it's called multires or something (definitely has res in the file name). It might be in the files section here, but it definitely should be in the BYOAC files area.

    Maws

I thought MAWS had been down for months. If they were actually up for a time, that would have been the news I was perplexed by!
  10. Daphne is a tough one to get running. It's also a bit more difficult to get running in GameEx (relative to MAME for instance). There are a few guides here for setting up Daphne. If that doesn't help, you can also try checking out the BYOAC forums as they discuss a broader range of emulation issues than just those related to GameEx setup.
  11. If the settings in MAME got changed, you have 2 choices. Delete the default.cfg file and restart MAME When in MAME, press TAB on the keyboard to bring up the options menu. Enter the controls menu and choose what controls you want for your layout. If you are using the defualt MAME layout, I'd recommend option 1. If you have modified things significantly, you probably will want to just fix what has gotten screwed up by going with option 2.
  12. There's no way to use two guns in Model2 at the moment. AFAIK, you can use one gun, but the other control has to be a keyboard. This has been discussed in several recent topics at BYOAC forums.
  13. I don't have an Aimtrak, but from what I've read, you can set it up as a joystick or a mouse. If you use it in mouse mode, you need to tell MAME that it's a mouse. If you have 2 guns, Win7 should have no problem letting you use both (even WinXP allowed multiple inputs, but I don't think it kept them separate). In MAME, make sure you turn on the multiple mouse option. Alternately, you could choose to tell MAME to use the guns as "lightguns". The primary difference if I remember correctly is that mouse will continuously track the location of gun(s) while lightgun will only poll the location when the trigger is pulled. The other choice is to set the guns up as joysticks. I have no experience with this approach, so you'll have to ask others about this setting.
  14. RomLister can create the batch file you need very easily. You don't need another program created to do exactly what you want. As I recall, you specify the command line that you want and it will create a batch file with that command line for each rom. Done.
  15. I don't think that's exactly true. If I understand what Tom said regarding this question a while back, you will keep all features of a registered version provided you do NOT upgrade to a new version AFTER your subscription runs out. I believe that as long as you are running a version that was provided during the subscription period, the software will work fully. But, keep in mind that new versions add new features and fix bugs. If you are not having any issues with the version you are running and the feature set is acceptable, you should be fine to continue using the software indefinitely. If, on the other hand, you format your machine and reinstall, I don't know that the license will continue working. This is a line of questions that Tom would have to answer to know for sure.
  16. I suggest you consider a lack of response as a response. Meaning, no one here can see the reason to intentionally set a system up in that way. IMO, the IPAC has a flash chip on it that is good for a certain number of flashes (probably on the order of 1000 or 10,000). Your computer on the other hand, doesn't have any limitation on the number of times you adjust the configuration of any or all emulators and their inputs. If it were me, I'd remap things on the computer side once you have the IPAC set up in a way that makes sense. Meaning, remap it from the default MAME set so that special keys are NOT in use and then configure each emulator to use that mapping.
  17. Check out GroovyGameGear's TT2 w/ 5" steering wheel. I've never tried it, but it can be swapped to/from a spinner with no tools. http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=268
  18. If you remove the files from your roms directory as well, I don't think the EmuMovies downloader will try to download the videos. I'm not sure, but I believe that GameEx generates a map file for MAME that you can use to parse your directories using whatever utility you want. I know the list exists, but I can't remember if it is in a map file or just in the DATA.mdb file. Either way, it's stored somewhere that you can access it.
  19. This post describes one way to send a command to hibernate your system. It also links to Microsoft where there is another method that doesn't require extra software. http://www.howtofixcomputers.com/forums/windows-xp/standby-hibernate-command-line-98504.html#post392872
  20. I have a second instance of MAME that I use for rotary joystick games. Although the current version of MAME is supposed to support these, I have not yet tinkered enough to use that setup. Instead, I use MAMEAnalog+ since it has been modified to specifically address the rotary joystick. I have the second emulator setup to use the MAME database and what I see in the list gives me pretty much what I want, but it's not perfect. Since I have my roms filtered to only show the one best instance, the database is not complete. I did not filter my rotary game list yet (cause I'm too lazy I guess), so I have 3 versions of Ikari Warriors among other titles. As a result, I see "Ikari Warriors", "ikariw", "ikarius" (or something like that...MAWS is down, so I don't know the other rom names). What I need to do is simply eliminate the rotary games that are duplicates and I'll be set.
  21. You can use the Arcade database if you don't want to build your own map file. Either way will work, but if you want to see the details (history, etc) then you will want to use the database.
  22. It's either a command line problem (which should be resolved with the suggestions above) or it's an incompatible rom/emulator version. If it works outside GameEx, it's obviously the former.

    Vote for GameEx

I went to vote, but realized that I forgot my login. 92 now!
  24. Maybe that's what they are trying to point out!

    Emumovies

I found the source videos location. I guess I only kept the full set on my cab rather than the file server. Anyway, the files are all standard quality ~340x240 resolution. There are ~400mb of files. I can certainly upload these, but I'm not sure where to put them (or if you even want the low resolution files).
