  1. I'm not sure this is taken care of in IS, is it? I think this is a comination of IS and HideOS.exe that makes everything disapear. BUT, if you have an emu that requires ShowDesktop=True (HideOS is disabled) then you may see some undesireable processes showing up and disapearing momentarily.
  2. I haven't read up on that drive, but it appears to be a RAID of 2 750GB drives, right?
  3. Alternately, does anyone know if/how to disable Alt and Ctl hot key combinations in windows? If all combinations were disabled for a Gamer account, then this might be a non-issue. The only problem would be that if you did have to Alt-Tab, you wouldn't have that ability any more. IMHO, it seems really stupid to be using these two keys for mapping knowing that Windows uses them as hotkeys. In DOS this wasn't a problem, but noone has used DOS for a MAME OS in years! We really should move on and use something that makes sense. But of course, this is the wrong forum for that
  4. So then this will be launchable during game play? I didn't want to presume too much, but that last picture appeared to have SF in the background. This is going to be sweat with the combos in there too!
  5. I think I tried those download links a few weeks back and they didn't work. I ended up finding a torrent from a popular site and getting them that way. The EmuMovie link will provide you samples for what's available, but it will not provide a link to where to get the actual files.

    Config Backup

Yeah, that's what Tom suggested in the past. Just copy the whole GameEx directory and reinstall over top of it when you get the new computer running.
  7. I don't have a frankenpanel, but I do have a panel with multiple configurations for different game types (SF, NeoGeo, 3 for ZiNc, etc.). If there's something I can do to help, I'll give it a shot. Let me know!
  8. I think most places that have those videos also have the roms. Per the rules of this forum, we can't provide links to places to download roms, therefore, it makes it tough to link the videos here. But, if you search one of the rom sites, you will find them. They are called "MAME Intro vids" or "EmuMovies".
  9. Just curious if it is possible to get the default keys changed in GameEx so that they don't include Alt or Ctl? I know I can change them to a custom keyboard, but that doesn't work with my mouse -> scroll list script for some reason. I know that the start button is mapped to both Enter and 1, so perhaps other keys could be done the same way? For example, Ctl + A, Alt + B, Enter + C, Backspace + D, ... Just a thought since I've had ctl and alt combination problems in the past.
  10. I don't think there's any way to add new fields, but it may be possible to change the text for "box" to "playfield". The downside is that it would probably appear that way for all emulators. So if you had NES roms as well, they would have their boxes appear as "playfield" too. In the Advanced Setup Wizard, there is a tab called "Text" or something like that. In there, you can change pretty much all of the text stuff to whatever you want. So, you could change "MAME" to "Arcade Games" for instance.
  11. Btw, this is exactly what I've been waiting for! That's truly the only feature I have asked for out of GameEx that I REALLY wanted. But, now you're just toying with me I WANT IT NOW!!!!
  12. They aren't super high resolution, but this page has a lot that are formatted nicely... Link I emailed the owner of the page and will post if I hear anything. Here's more (but they are a bit raw): Link Genesis Controller N64

    Theme Idea

Yeah, that would be a good idea... Maybe Tom can think about the option to use icons rather than text (or in addition to) in a future version.
  14. I don't currently use Jukebox, but I think browse by directory would be very useful (now that I understand the difference).

    Theme Idea

I don't think there is any way to put an icon in for each emulator (on the emulator line).
  16. Just found a thread at BYOAC about the hacked 270/360 steering wheel. Sounds cool, but I haven't finished reading it yet to see if he finished the project or if it's still just a theory. Anyway, check it out: 270°/360° Switchable Steering Wheel Project
  17. Cool! Any features you find particularly exciting? I'm thinking the main thing would be the startup speed (I've noticed it's a bit slow compared to Joy2Key).
  18. Totally agree
  19. If it takes too long to load large lists, then this isn't really a feature. It's really more of a fix to make it work on a wider range of systems. I don't think that if you have a large collection of music you should have to wait 20+ minutes for it to load while the interface is sitting there frozen! Perhaps Tom needs to rethink how the parsing is done so that it doesn't take so long. Yeah, one option is to just use a folder view so that only the files in the current directory are loaded. My personal opinion is that Tom should check out how XBMC or any of the HUGE number of other media programs out there perform this same task. I know some monitor directories for changes, but that may not be the best way... I don't have 200gb (probably more like 30Gb), but my system does take a little bit to load my files when I was trying it out (Dual Core AMD64 4600+ w/ 2Gb of ram). Also, I'm not sure it even loaded anything because my files are all in FLAC format. TOM: Does GameEx recognise FLAC format? If not, can it be added?
  20. I've never heard of this kind of a hack before. I know there is one steering wheel that was a 360 with restricted movement to 270, but that is the exception. All 360's are optical (like an old school mouse) and all 270's (except of the one) use analog via a potentiometer. If you want to have it switchable, you would need some way to switch on and off a restrictor plate and probably a centering spring of some sort. Then you would have to do what I'm trying to do and get 270 games to use the ticks of the 360 work in place of the position of the potentiometer in the 270. Sounds like a tough hack, but give it a go if you got a plan! My plan was to use the 360's as they are and have them control 270 games since I read a while back that it shouldn't be a problem. Well, the problem is that I can't find the article/thread now and so I don't remember how they said it should be configured in MAME to do it. If you (or anyone else reading this) knows of a thread or a procedure or anything that could help, please let me know. 360 games are my favorite, but I would really like to play 270's as well!
  21. Unless you have a bunch of singles, aren't all of your songs already arranged by ROOT/Artist/Album/Song? If so, then isn't the Artist/Album display pretty much the same as displaying by directory tree? I see the feature being useful, but I'm just wondering how this is grossly different?
  22. Yeah, "loading screen" sounds right. It's just there to keep it from looking like things locked up, but if you like it, then turn it on!
  23. I'm sure MAMEwah isn't really that bad. You're just exaggerating for effect! Then again, I could never get it configured to even work, so I can't really say you're wrong either.
  24. I'm sure that would work. But, if you have no intention of playing MAME games, then you shouldn't have to install it. Agreed that it should go in the feature request thread though.
  25. I think that's the display animation when needed setting.
