XP doesn't really support 640x480. It sometimes works, but the minimum XP wants is 800x600. I suggest trying that and seeing what happens.
  2. If you use CCCP you might want to turn off dvix, xvid, etc (everything but ffdshow. I was having the same kind of problems until I did that.
  3. Are you using a "text box" or a "memo box"? The text box can only hold up to 256 characters. The memo can hold pretty much unlimited info.
  4. I don't have IE7 installed...
  5. Is there a question in there? If you are asking "what can I do", that's not exactly how it's coming across...
  6. Nice, are these all docs for all games, or just what have been processed at this time?
  7. GREAT! Glad to hear I could help out. Happy gaming.
  8. I wouldn't edit the files by hand, at least not to start. I would personally load up a game in MAME, hit TAB, and go to General Options - Player 1 Controls. Find the Mouse stuff near the bottom (should be 6 lines for Analog, Inc, Dec and X,Y). Now, select the analog for x and move your tank stick to left or right. It should pop up with something like 'MOUSE_1_X'. Now, if you want to see if MAME is recognising different mice with different numbers, try the y axis with the mouse. It should give you something like 'MOUSE_2_Y' or something like that. If it reports the same number, that shouldn't be a problem. If it doesn't take the trackball, then I would try unplugging the mouse and restarting the PC prior to trying again (just to see if it works). There may be an option in MAME to enable multiple mice. If so, it has to be enabled.
  9. AHK code is very similar to AI code. The main advantage of AI is that API's seem a little easier to get ahold of. But then again, I don't really know AI or AHK very good.

    GameEx 9 ETA

No worries. GameEx is in a very usable state right now. The upcoming features (at least those getting a lot of focus) will be very welcome, but they are not required to enjoy the fruits of Tom's labor. On the other hand, I do enjoy cranking up the cab with a message about updates!
  11. Agreed. I was just pointing out that there is a more elegant solution if needed. I don't use it currently since almost all of my scripts are now in AHK format.
  12. AutoHotKey is one of the programs used to create the wrappers, so it's not the program that's clumsy...
  13. If I understand correctly, you want MAME to use your trackball rather than the mouse, right? That can be done by configuring MAME correctly to look for the second mouse. In MAME, you can have multiple mice and address them separately. Your mouse is one device, the trackball is another. In MAME, you need to go to the general controls section and change your settings to use the trackball (probably mouse2) rather than the mouse (probably mouse1).
  14. The info is on the net (I've read bits here and there), but there is no database designed for GameEx containing console info.

    GameEx 9 ETA

There has been talk lately about v9 as if it's going to be some revolutionary new version rather than the standard incremental feature inclusion/bug fix. Tom does this for fun (I hope it's still fun...) and works on features he likes or others torment him about . Whatever is in the works will be done when it's ready and he will surely release it at that point. I really don't think he would hold onto the next version to include a slew of new stuff just to call it v9. Basically, nologic, HK and I were the ones who created the v9 buzz I think.
  16. Japan is automatically filtered from GameEx (although this can be changed or the game can be excluded from the filter). If it showed up before, that shouldn't be the problem though.
  17. It's not just you. I was waiting until spoonch1 clarified to respond.
  18. If you go with a batch file and you have winXP, there is also a sleep command available. You have to download sleep.exe, but it's easy to use. Either way works, but I thought I would post it since I've used it before and it works great! Detailed how to...
  19. Woops, wrong room here. I can find my way out!
  20. The only reason GameEx would take over again is if it thinks the game is done. This would happen if the process GameEx launches terminates. So, for example: * if you launch a game and then quit, it will go back to GameEx * if you launch a script that launches a game and the script exits, it will go back to GameEx * if you lauhch a script that launches a game and waits for the game to exit, GameEx won't take over until the script terminates * if you launch a script that launches a game launcher, the script will exit when the launcher terminates and will cause the game to play in the background of GameEx If you are experiencing the 4th case, then you would need to have the script watch for the game to exit before it terminates. I don't know anything about doomsday, so I can't say if it's a launcher or not. I'm just throwing out a few ideas for you to consider and maybe you will see the actual problem.
  21. Bahhh, Vista. That's just for kids to play with and system admins to pull their hair out over.
  22. It's back!!! BlackViper's site was down for a LONG time, so it's nice that it's back up and available for people to use.
  23. That's messed up! I've seen that a few times on consoles, but they are so rare! It's one thing on a PC with varying specs, but there's no excuse when it's a console or arcade. That's deplorable!
