Dude! Loving this! Seriously considering getting small lcd below my monitor to display game controls etc. Couple of q's though: 1. ON your video - there's a bit where it shows Sonic and Zelda game info. Can GameInfo be configured to show custom background for each game? at the moment, just see the desktop with the gameinfo bar at the bottom, unless I press Shift+space, then get the control panel image. 2. Is there any way to set the control panel image to come up automatically, rather then having to press shift+space? I would like to boot the game and then the CP layout come up auto. 3. Also, be nice if could set it to cycle through a number of images - say set title, artwork, marquee paths and CP etc for each game on each emulator I'm doing final cuts this w/e so... hole for small lcd or not... hmmmm Great plugin Adultery!

Hi folks, MId-build + also on-the-fly modifications! Have a space below the monitor bezel (about 5" deep) just asking to be filled with a small LCD to display things on. Seen another guy put a small LCD on his CP to display game controls. So.... assembling cab this weekend - last minute advice required!!! My thinking: This small lcd could show button controls/configurations. Building a modular unit with multiple emulators, so whole range of permutations - light guns, trackball, steering wheel etc. Be nice on game boot for the relevant controls to come up. Also, they will vary game to game within each emultor... So - any way to achieve this? Seen CPWiz talked about and also MameHooker?? GPU has two outputs. Would GameEx support this? Recc'd plugins/software? Cheers chaps!

Damn! Sorted it. Upgraded mother board and it changed the drive letter of my second hard drive. As the rom path was pointing towards a non existing drive, mame didn't show in GE. Guess should study logs more closely!

Hmmmm... still can't find out what's going on with this. Scoured setup wizard with a fine tooth comb- still no idea. Can anyone help? Prob something really obvious!

Hi folks, NullDC led me a merry dance with sound problems and all sorts - all off the last stable official build. Some guy's done an optimized version that works straight out the box: http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151606 A godsend Thought I'd share to spare others the pain that so often comes with Emulator setups

Solved the nullDC issue. Found this purely by chance: http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151606 an optimised build of nulldc. Worked straight out the box!! NO idea how long I've been faffing around with official builds and legacy ones just to try + get this working! Some guy's done it for us! I'll post separate topic to help save future users any hassle! Yay!!! How good are dreamcast games - it's gonna look the mutt's nuts in my cab

Cheers again, KRC. I'm trying to leave something after it's all finished. I know how long I had to dig about to find info - often dispersed and confusing! Keep on with the funky graphics

Thanks KRC. Nice to get some appreciation for what essentially added to the job time. Over in another forum (which will remain nameless) it just disappeared into unacknowledged obscurity!! NOt a good way to keep a hobby alive!! I'm in Lincolnshire - guessing you're uk too? Parts is a bit of an issue over here, huh?

Hi folks, not sure if the right forum to post this in, but figured a lot of you might be doing your own builds. In the middle of my first one, and I know how long it took me to research etc, so looking to share what I've figured and what's gone well... So, have made 2 lightguns for my cab @ £30 each. Work on LCDs. 6 buttons + footpedal. Have also made a guide on how to do it: https://sites.google.com/site/alienarcade74/sub-projects/lightguns-build Hope this helps someone! Steve

Did I post this in the right place?

Thanks for your responses, chaps. In truth, I'd rather stick with XP. Just feels a lot more stable and also 'slimmer.' PCSX2 + NullDC are the main motivators! Haven't tried running PSXC yet, but no matter how much I faff with NullDC, I can't get the sound right in fullscreen. Stuttery and glitchy. I'm wondering whether it's my specs: Mainboard : ASRock 4Core1600-GLAN Chipset : Intel G31/G33/G35 Processor : Intel Pentium XE 935 @ 3200 MHz (2 Core) Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM ) Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT Hard Disk : MAXTOR STM3320820A (320GB) Hard Disk : Western Digital WD2500KS-00MJB0 (250GB) CD-Rom Drive : DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device Monitor Type : BenQ BenQ 241W - 24 inches Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RTL8168/8111 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Adapter OS : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3 (32-bit) DirectX : Version 9.0c (May 2010) Any tips, Dazzle? Be great if I could get all sorted without clean re-install!! Thanks again Steve

Aha! Thanks Draco! done! I think my brain is getting old and fused - don't do detail as easy as used to! GameEx.ini log.txt

HI folks - advice from pros needed!! So, I'm rolling with my system setup. However, as time has gone on, I've upgraded my graphics card (to 1GB) and recently my mobo. I'm looking at running the higher end emulators (nulldc + pcsx2) + now running into stuff about them preferring dx10 and above. XP only goes up to dx9 . Also predicting I may want to add higher gen consoles in the future, and my setup has some life in it yet - sure can only go up to 4Gb, but still got scope in my CPU Downloaded the Windows 8 upgrade some time ago (for another XP machine)- ended up not using the license as bought the 64 bit edition for custom build in the end. So.... do I install Windows 8 on my emulator machine over XP? If so, I understand that it would have to be either a clean install, or one that only preserves my documents?? Few q's as a result: 1. Spent ages getting GameEx setup - is there anyway to save my setup so I would just have to re-install GE and re-instate the folder structures + files as was (can easy b/u to second HD in machine). Copying .ini files? Simple as that?? 2. Any known compatibility issues for emulators or GE with Windows 8. Would be going for the 32 bit edition. 3. Just any thoughts in general! Thanks chaps Steve

Okey-dokey. Tried that - followed instructions - copied all in each and posted here. Error message "post too long" - next suggestion? btw - game-ex isn't crashing - would a log file still help? cheers

As it says above. Option in setup to allow mame on home checked, and also mame is 'enabled' in advanced setup. Any advice? Why doesn't anything stay 'unbroken' for any period of time?? Tried searching the forums, just got back a lot of irrelevant search results. Cheers Steve

[LOADING SCREENS] Emulator Specific (1920x1080)
stigzler replied to KRC's topic in GameEx Media Projects
These look great - but what do you use them for? Do they appear in the pause between GE minimise and emulator startup? -
thanks hans. we'll see whether works in practice!

Hi folks, Well thanks to various things, including GameEx, I'm now getting closer to a build - aiming to start next week. I'm guessing there's folks on here who have done their own build, so would really appreciate some feedback before construction to avoid any silly mistakes of errors! I've put together a site on which my design is placed. If anyone has a spare minute to cast their eye over - be very much appreciated! https://sites.google.com/site/alienarcade74/sub-projects/cabinet-design Thanks Steve

Hi Folks, At the moment, random videos play on my home screen (when MAME highlighted) and also random videos for each of the emulators when hover select over them. Is there any way to have text underneath displaying the name of the game (and possibly system for when for e.g. hover over game in favourites)?? CHeers Steve -
ah thanks. That's gotta be an easy one to implement, right? just pull the title from the associated video? will repost there

OK... got WinUAE working with the roms. Now, again, cannot find any way to load these from GameEx. Have found out about -f and -0 switches in the command line, but can't get this working. Please someone, just a simple command line to launch from GameEx? thanks.
