I had this problem with video files. I just ended up renaming the first 9 or 10 to 01, 02, 03, etc.
-
I was adding some info and pictures to the database manually and I saw that about a 1/3 of my movies were not listed so I pressed rescan for movies and since then it has never launched again. It starts to load but when it hits around 110 mb in task manager it suddenly quits. I've tried reinstalling versions 10.24 and 10.70 and it still won't relaunch. This screenshot is the last I see of it in my list of processes before it crashes.

How to open video_ts.ifo in kmplayer command line switch
T. Goodchild replied to T. Goodchild's topic in General
I gave up on kmplayer and tried MPC and after almost every permutation I could think of and the same problem occurring I finally stumbled onto the solution for anyone else with the same problem. "C:\Program Files\Combined Community Codec Pack\MPC\mpc-hc.exe" "[dvd]" "pathname" /dvd "pathname" gives the folder directory to mpc and "dvd" opens the folder from disk from the beginning instead of just the first video file Previews work fine too although I still wish dvd's and videos were merged together like in Media Center but it finally works. Thanks again. -
I'm experimenting with the dvd from disc menu using Kmplayer. I can launch the files just fine from the hd but GameEx always plays the first VTS_01.ifo title file which only plays that title video instead of the Video_ts.ifo file which acts like a real dvd and starts from the beginning and goes into the menus and allows for navigation. Is there any way to have GameEx launch the video.ifo file over the vts.ifo file? I'm using the following parameters to get it to launch the dvd. "C:\Program Files\The KMPlayer\kmplayer.exe" "[DVD]" "Ctrl+V" "[DVD]" - I assume is the GameEx part and "Ctrl + V" - Is the Kmplayer command to open dvd from file. How can I specify it to look for video over vts?

After a bit more playing around with it I've noticed it's mainly my hd snaps that cause the spike and slowdowns. On my smaller emulators with only 10 or so games with sd snaps they run full speed just fine. If I go to all games with the combination of the sd/hd snaps 30 at a time it gets slow. I have half of my games with sd snaps and the other half hd as I'm capturing them all again in hd manually, editing, then encoding them down. I have a phenom x4 965 @ 4.1ghz. 4gb ddr3 xp sp3 and cccp codec pack 9/29/2009. Other than that it's still a great feature. Thanks for implementing it.

I've been waiting so long for this feature. Thanks so much. The only problem with it is that it stresses out only one core while the others are relatively low. Is there a way to optimize the threads or child processes and distribute/utilize all the cores more evenly?

Various Problems: GameEx on Win7 x64/Lenovo T500
T. Goodchild replied to Geronimo's topic in General
Are you using the same HD for your OS and data/games? If so, I've noticed heavy disk usage with win7 without necessarily doing anything, probably indexing nonstop so I'd look into disabling some services to make sure it's not constantly accessing and cataloging files which may add to any apparent response lag. Also try defragging the drive or upgrade to a 10k or ssd. One other weird solution I might suggest is to disable some 3rd party input/usb devices. One time it had really slowed my emulation when I had several controllers hooked up at once while using Joy2Key for all of them. -
Go into gamex>config and open the game ex ini and search for GradientTitleFont=True. Set to false to lose the fade. (3) On (1) you can change the color with the font setting, but for (2) the menu and line color I'm not sure. Also check the theme settings itself. Edit > options.

I'm also having trouble with the video snaps. Despite a higher resolution 1366x768 or 1920x1080/1200 they always come out at 320x180 25fps and playback too fast. I've tried many different codecs such as ffdshow with either divx, mp4, mjpeg, uncompressed etc and varying bitrates and profiles. I have cccp, ffdshow a cyberlink mpeg 2 decoder, .net, drivers, and dx installed. Until this feature was implemented I originally was going to manually capture every game using hycam2 with ffdshow as it would allow me to record sound with any resolution and any codec. Is there any setting I can change or script I can use to either change the native encoding for video snaps or a path I can change to use hycam2 and also change the duration of each snap? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

These are shortened versions of mine just adjust the paths as necessary: ZSNES Enabled=True StartPageName=SNES TitleText=SNES StartPageLogo=snes RomFilter=*.zip;*.smc; RomsInFolders=False ROMPath=D:\Emulators and Games\ZSNES ROMS SnapPath=D:\Emulators and Games\GAME EX SNAPS\SNESSNAPS WorkingPath=D:\Emulators and Games\ZSNES MapKeys=True ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=True AlsoLaunch= ShowDesktop=False Debug=False Command=zsnesw.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" (check the command exe if it is different ex: "zsnesw" or "zsnes" ) configFile=[Mapping Off] Exit (Process Close) PCGame=False DATABASE=[Console] Nintendo SNES GamesIn7Zips=False Fusion ( I use Fusion for 32XCD and Gens+ for Genesis Sega CD and 32X) Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=32XCD TITLETEXT=32XCD StartPageLogo=SCD32X ROMFilter=*.cue RomsInFolders=False RomPath=D:\Emulators and Games\SEGA ROMS\SEGA 32XCD SnapPath=D:\Emulators and Games\GAME EX SNAPS\32XCDSNAPS WorkingPath=D:\Emulators and Games\SEGA\Fusion36 MapKeys=True ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=True ShowDesktop=False Debug=False Command=Fusion.exe -scd -fullscreen "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" configFile=[Mapping Off] Exit (Process Close) PCGame=False DATABASE=[Console] Sega 32X GamesIn7Zips=False The trick to a lot if these lies within the emulator config file itself. Getting them to run outside of gameex is easy but for instance in zsnes you have to edit the config file to disable the gui. Go to your zsnes directory and open the config file with notepad and make sure you have it set up with all the controller and resolution settings first. Don't do this step until your are only going to operate the emulator from within gameex or else you will have to edit it back every time you want to use it in Windows. -- GUI -- ; Disable GUI (0 = NO, 1 = Yes) guioff=1 It must be switched to 1 in order for it to display in Gameex. Switch back to 0 to use in windows.

SUCCESS TEMPEST! Works great. Loads fast and exits back to gameex no problem. Thanks for all your patience.

Still doesn't load but this time it spells out "Mystic Heroes NGC NTSC " with every game.

The latest one is 3851 which you can get here: http://cid-ec92aae47a89073b.skydrive.live....olphin-r3851.7z and this is my own 3777 folder: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RZ5BBDO0

Okay this next one goes one step more and opens up the open window but it still needs a click to start the emulation. The name is already in the address box but it needs like a confirmation or an extra click on the open or run command. Then to exit out I have to stop the emulator and exit the loader from the sys tray, which I use mouse hotkeys for.

I tried it out and I still only get it to launch into Dolphin. The selection has to be made manually. This is my abridged config: [Emulator_13] Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=GameCube Wii TITLETEXT=GameCube Wii StartPageLogo=GameCube ROMFilter=*.gcm;*.iso; RomsInFolders=False RomPath=D:\Emulators and Games\GAMECUBE ISOS SnapPath=D:\Emulators and Games\GAME EX SNAPS\GCWIISNAPS WorkingPath=D:\Emulators and Games\GAMECUBE\3777 Command=DolphinLoader.Exe "[RomFile]" configFile=[Mapping Off] Exit (Process Close) DATABASE=[Console] Nintendo GameCube

Blackglass Theme Final Version (Modified Blueglass theme)
T. Goodchild replied to kicker75's topic in General
Nice theme. I like everything except the yellow folder icon. I'm finishing a theme as well and have a black one if you care to use it. -
To stop stuttering try using the lowest settings and check sync game to audio so as to avoid any big changes in framerate.
-
Same here. I can get it to launch dolphin but then i have to resort to clicking on a game with the mouse. I've also tried every possible commandline switch I can think of but none of them ever booted a game automatically.
-
Bumping as I'm also having the same issues as well. Black screen on second display with video playback but not emulators. More playback controls, stop, skip, info etc depending on the player. I'd also like to second the request for DVD hard disk files to be treated the same as video files as they are in Media Center.

I was also wondering along with the boot times and with this optimized version if you could release a very very lite version of gameex with only the minimal capabilities such as launching games and changing themes. I see the lite version during setup but I was wondering if you could tell us the bare minimum of features that are required for gameex to still run and what is safe to eliminate. I'm asking because it is fine on my desktop to be fully loaded where I have power to spare, but I also have gameex installed on my netbook and it really needs all the processing power it can use. It is only 1.7 ghz and it cant quite run my dreamcast emulators as well as I can on their own outside of gameex, so I was wondering if you can have make a tiny gameex build for netbooks or low powered laptops along with these improvements on boot times. Just a suggestion thanks!

** COMPETITION: BEST GAMEEX VIDEO ON YOUTUBE **
T. Goodchild replied to Tom Speirs's topic in General
Hey Tom you should also release a video of your current setup to show features some of us haven't implemented yet along with newer themes. Your setup is probably the best configured so it would show us a model to work off of. -
Fourth here on the boot up time. I've noticed it getting longer since around the 9.1x releases. In the early ones it would take 2-3 seconds now its upwards of 20-30. I've also eliminated most of the extraneous features but it still takes a long time. I know its not the system, I have updated drivers .net 3.5 quadcore and raptors. Here's a log file: log.txt

Does CDZ offer any advantages over bin+cue, iso, .img mds+mdf etc and will converting these over to CDZ images also work for other console images ie dreamcast sega cd gcm? ATM I do use lots of file types and the lists are becoming rather cluttered now that you mention it...

Worked perfectly the first time! Thanks a lot!
