I've used a lot of renamers for romsets and artwork, but is there a simple tool to match the database name from GameEx's mdb files to my roms and rename them? There are currently about 3 or so naming conventions in use and if any one of them matches it would be nice for it to apply to a rom.

I like the popup descriptions except when the text gets truncated by the ratings which happens quite often. Is there any table or record view in a database file this if deleted would eliminate this star rating information altogether? I'd like it to render just a simple description text box.

Just a heads up for anyone following 4DO, with the newest release you can finally launch 3DO games fullscreen. http://www.fourdo.com/ This is the command I use. There is also a fullscreen one but it remembers it when you exit if enabled so I haven't had the need to include it in the switch. Command=4DO.exe -StartLoadFile "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" and to exit I just used configFile=[Mapping Off] Exit (ALT+F4)

Is the TVDB data retrieval like a XBMC scraper?

[GUIDE] Steam in GameEx

For anyone who wants a few header files to get started with, this 7zip has 54 jpeg pics tagged with the rom name from the url. PC Steam.7z -
I second this request. It would be nice if the title stayed and the 3D cab could be moved alongside it or spinning fullscreen in the background or in the corner as a separate theme object altogether. I really like the 3D cabs but I would rather the title take precedence as a foreground piece.

Feature & Enhancement Requests

I was hoping to have radio buttons for views you can enable and disable. With the new views added, it is too hard to scroll through the 6-8 different types one at a time in sequential order ex (1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8) to get to the one you want. I have disabled the live video ones but it is not enough as the new tablet views are very obtrusive to certain themes and make navigation a nightmare with a mouse or gamepad. If each view were able to be turned on or off we could keep the views we like per emulator and only have to switch between 2 or 3. ex (1-4-7). Either that or an option in theme editor to disable more views. -
When I have all the roms in Game Ex MAME set to unfiltered I get these specific cases. They must be the not working ones but they are included in the set anyway. This is a copy paste of several of the titles as they appear. They don't turn up when I filter them so it's not a big deal I was just curious.
-
I've also noticed that a lot of the blank entries have "(MPU4)" after the game title. What does it mean and I can I filter these out specifically?

Regular old blue and green config not advanced. More clicks basically and more menus. On the old one if I wanted to change something I can see all my emulators at once, (one click away) by pressing one button then diving right in. The new one makes me go through a top down structure each one one at a time.
-
Personally, I find the old config much faster and intuitive than the newer wizard. Was there any reason why it was phased out and will the old one ever be updated/included in a newer build? Initially for a first timer it can be useful in setting up, but if you just want to check a path or turn something on/off real quick, it's convoluted.

THIS IS PERFECT! Exactly what I needed and the export to csv was ingenious. I'll be playing in excel for the next few hours and have them all cleaned up in no time. Thank you so much, this will save me so much time.

I was hoping for something along the lines of a database gui that could parse multiple directories at once and show what the romname and version are, and the other directories would show if there was art/info for each of the categories pertaining to it. Like: |Super Mario Bros.| |(USA)| |v 1.0| |Title| |Snap| |Box| etc. Then it would be easy to pinpoint what to add or adjust. I use fatmatch to get the names all in sync but it would be nice for a birds eye view of all the data.

My collection is starting to get bigger and it is becoming harder to track manually so I'd like to learn how to use a manager that plays well with GameEx if possible. What tools do you guys use to keep track of snaps, rom-names, versions, videos, box-art etc, for regular emulators? Also describe the workflow and process you use to keep them all aligned when updating to newer sets.

I'd like to suggest a numbered second delay and disable fade button for the pop-up descriptions for games. As it is, you have to keep the selection over the game for a few seconds before the info is displayed. I'd personally like the pop-up to be instantaneous as it is with the artwork and videos with no fade-in as soon as it is selected. -
PERFECT! Worked first time. Thanks!

The default player is ok and it loads back just fine. It's external ones I suppose. I'll test WMP 10 to see if it's isolated to KMplayer only. Edit. WMP 10 crashes too when I close it. It's external for sure.

I'm getting crashes too with the newer version 11.64. I use kmplayer and it always worked fine before. Now it crashes to desktop when the video is over. Here's the error report if it helps. log.txt

I'm using a v4 theme and GameEx 10.77. It doesn't happen with the newer versions, I tried installing 11.64 and it works fine. The old one uses direct draw and the newer ones direct x I think. I like the older one better because certain features work better and I don't get crashes when windowing the screen. Just curious as to what it was that was causing it nothing major. log.txt

I was playing with my theme and tried to move some elements around. In doing so I saw that the Title object is painted onto a semi black background which can be obtrusive if it overlaps an image or even a black background itself. I didn't notice it at first because it was hidden by my "list" object. As soon as I put it in front of something I saw it "bled out" outside of its dimensions into a black square. Upon first restart or launch it doesn't appear because there is no cached background. On second restart it always shows up. I delete the cached bmp's to check and it happens every time. How can I disable this effect or stop this from happening? This pic shows the slight difference in blacks and the bleeding onto a video.

Hey Tom will there ever be a way to edit a V3 theme in the editor? I like certain v3 themes the most but can only edit v4's.

I remember just dragging a picture onto the box and it worked. I had more problems narrowing down which release was used when it got to specific dvd/blu ray releases.

I've had the movie database crash since the 10xx versions. One time I had set it to download descriptions, and when I tried to open the file it had crashed maybe because it was too big, it was around 60mb. I saw it crash out of task manager and I could never open it up again to edit, unless I deleted it and tried again one by one adding info.

Sorry for the late reply. I do like it but it only shows up on a conditional basis and is not a permanent fixture. In the real media center as you know the albumart/vis square remains present while cycling through menus. The only way I see it in GameEx is if I switch to a view I don't necessarily use ie fullscreen, or don't have a video snap. If it were treated as a theme object it would be different ie image1, image 2. Also for some reason no album art has been appearing on my jukebox since the 11.2x- or 11.3x versions. I always test your latest builds but always default back to a much earlier direct draw (10.77) build since they worked fine back then. I have folder.jpg in all the folders and have even embedded the art itself into the mp3 using audioshell so I'm not sure why they haven't been appearing.

It didn't make any difference in load time as far as I could tell. Still took over 30 seconds to load a 4.71mb pdf.
