Yikes. Sounds like I saved myself a headache. At work I had a company that made purchasing their insanely overpriced product the most difficult process known to man. I had to give up on their website and call them directly, and even then it was like pulling teeth. I've never before seen a for profit business do more to discourage you from buying. TAKE MY MONEY...Please? If it wasn't the only option on earth for that particular item, I would buy from another vendor in a heartbeat. I feel like I should support Atari though, and kinda do want one - the wood grain has my eye. However, I just spent $700 on Color Vision Dysfunction (CVD) corrective glasses (Enchroma glasses). So needless to say, I'm hesitant to spend more money at the moment. I'm a mild to moderate Dutan, meaning I don't see green correctly. Tomorrow I'm going to an Iris garden to look at flowers and see color correctly for the first time, well hopefully. They are supposed to work on 4-5 people with red-green colorblindness. They have a no hassle return policy if they don't work. If that's the case and I have $700 I wasn't planing on having anymore, then I have no excuse anymore.

Cool. I'm not interested in buying a switch at the moment, but that's neat.

In FPS the mouse is king for aiming, but I prefer the thumbsticks for running. There is a PC controller for that. It's like a wii nunchuck with more buttons. But for PC I still prefer a wired USB X-Box 360 controller. Picked it up at the local used junk store for $5. I got tired of messing around in settings and forums to get PS3, GC, and Logitech controllers to work properly. The x-box 360 controller just works with pretty much everything without hassle. I can't disagree with that assessment. Eargonomically speaking, I think it's the best controller layout and design yet. PS2/3 and GC controllers are more familiar and unique. That gives them the edge for me, despite being less ergonomic.

I really like my SF30 pro controller. It really is a great do it all controller, but not so much for a cramp free 4+hr marathon session. It would need palm grips for that, kinda like the accessory for the wii classic controller. But that cramping, blistering, raw finger experience is authentic and exactly what the doctor calls for in a retro controller. That's why I like it. Nostalgia. By the way, the suffix -algia means "pain". I always liked the PS2/3 controller designs better than x-box. They felt better (more friendly) in my hands, despite not being as ergonomic. They seem to fit better in kids hands too. Admittedly, I was a big PS1/2 and gamecube guy before getting an x-box. Halo familiarized me with the x-box design, which hasn't changed significantly since. However, IMO the best controller to date has to be the Gamecube controller, the Wavebird specifically. Unique design, intuitive controls, ergonomic, and masterfully integrated into gameplay. I prefer Metroid Prime with the Wavebird on GC vs. the Wiimote reboot used in Trilogy - which is good too, but in it's own gimmicky way. And the wii U pro controller? While very sweet, is an x-box clone too.

I am confused by it, but less so than earlier. It's not a retro console, but it's retro inspired. It's not Atari's entrance back into the major console arena. What is it? A Roku that plays games. It's pre-loaded with Atari vault, 100 classics. From there, I'm assuming it will allow streaming of Steam, Origin, and etc. At least that's what it sounds like they're describing. Basically it's Nvidia Sheild, but by Atari. Honestly, I'm not as geeked about it as I feel I should be. However, it will be running an Open Linux OS, so it should be hackable soon after launch. I'm sure the hardware specs would make it a capable emulator rig. In this form factor, N64, Gamecube, Dreamcast, and Saturn emulation have struggled. Maybe this will change that? PS2? Probably not, but someday. EDIT: What's with that X-box rip off controller. Has everyone decided there is no ergonomic improvement over that design or what. Seriously, can't they do something other than giving it a red thumb stick to set it apart?

Yes, it has instructions to DL the script that enables it. It's safe shutdown/reset and enables the Pwr LED. Works well, but you have to use putty to use "|". It's needed in the command that DL/installs the script, but it can't be typed into the terminal directly on the pi. June 29th the NES Classic will be re-released. You could just get him one of those and hack it. Netplay and retroachievements are possible with the Wifi mod and unlimited space is possible with the USB-Host mod. There's even a team working on an combination wifi/SD card mod you can solder directly to the motherboard. This is the next evolution to their SD card mod which already allows you to solder an SD card in, or have them do it for you. However, I like to use a simple usb OTG adapter. That way it's still stock. I just solved the 8Bitdo controller issue I was having. Now it works great, better than it does on the Pi. Honestly, now that the NESC/SNESC has wifi/usb it's really becoming more useful. I like the interface and save states better than the Pi. Hackchi makes managing games and installing mods easier than dealing with retroarch on the pi. Plus it's official Nintendo hardware, so it's totally slick. I think it out performs the pi by a bit too.

Lol. I did a ancestry thing a few years back and found relation going back to the Mayflower. I also found out that my relatives sided with the British. So there's that.

When I studied the history of western civilization, I was struck by the similarity to Groundhogs day. We're doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. It's satirically funny at this point. Ours is a young and idealistic society, this is true. It'd be cute, if the matches it's playing with wern't thermonuclear warheads.

Just set up my new RPi in the Kintaro Super NESmini case. That's a sweet little rig with a killer heatsink. Having to re-learn RPi having spent so much time on the SNES classic and Hakchi2. I preferr the save state manager of the SNES/NES classic to the Pies. It's nice to exit back to the game screen and have your save state hovering there for you. However, the pies can handle the 8Bitdo controllers better than the classic. I still haven't figured out how to get analog axis control instead of 8-way d-pad emulation.

It's colonial politics 101. Marry an American, then inherit America! The french tried that by marring native Americans. It would have worked too, except It's slower than "manifest destiny". Notice how I used the euphemism we good little American history students are taught to substitute for "genocide". Where's my gold star? Maybe it's hiding under that blanket (veil?), wait a moment...yep, it was hiding Gold bars, smallpox, Victor biased history...all kinds of shameful things. But don't feel bad, the Romans, Huns, Crusaders, Conquistadors, Russians, Brits, and pretty much everyone did it or is doing it too. Were all just one big dysfunctional (homicidal) family. Seriously though, I think it's marginally neat to see an American princess. Harry always was a bit of a wild boy.

I'm a minority audience for sure. My language/violence limit is lower than most people who go to see movies like this. When I see a movie like this, I feel like I'm doing something bad. So for me, it doesn't pay off unless they tone it done or blow me away, like kick-ass (a movie I guiltily enjoyed, but wouldn't own). It's a conscience matter. It's probably an age thing too. I've grown out of the prolific cussing and nonchalance toward violence age group. My family culture doesn't promote these movie choices either. So I guess I can thank (blame?) my mom for that.
-
I didn't care for the first, so I think I'll skip the second. Too much language and violence. While I get that's Deadpools appeal, there's a way to do it without exceeding audience comfort threshold. Think kick-ass. I guiltily enjoyed Kick-ass, but Deadpool was just the guilt. IMO, the levity of comedy didn't do enough to sweeten the sour of language/violence. I needed more balance.

There will be a quiz on this in the morning....

Well...yeah, okay. "Tenhcnically" Except that in 2 he did kill his dad (planet) and the source of his immortality/powers. So now he's essentially just human. Do we even know if he can hold an infinity stone anymore? So besides having tech and skills, does he have any abilities anymore? -

I seem to remember you're a comic book guy, right? Or is it graphic novel? I never got exposed to that scene. I am curious to see how they play Chris Pratt and Robert Downy Jr. off one another in avengers. Two arrogant human characters without superpowers in a pissing contest. One a genius billionaire wielding technology derived solely of human ingenuity, the other wielding tech gleaned from a universe of aliens. One had to earn his knowledge, the other having to earn his experience...and so on. Would make for some hilarious banter and jabs. Probably worth seeing just for this. I didn't care for the Thor movies. Spiderman has been remade so many times I just skipped the last incarnation. I think that's why I've been prejudice against the avenger movies. Really the only draw for me is Robert Downy Jr. His return from addiction was glorious in Iron Man. His unique brand of arrogance made him the perfect typecast for Stark. I think the recovery and worldly experience gave him depth and determination as a person (and consequently a better actor, although he was good before). I'd like to see him in more leading roles outside of the marvel context. As for TV Series, I recommend Marvel's Iron Fist. It premiered in 2017 and won't have another season until 2019. ANNOYING AS HELL to have to wait 2 years between seasons. but their attention to quality and fitting into the marvel universe may account for the long wait. I'm not sure that's a price I'm interested in paying, but that's the trend with streaming series nowadays. Seriously though, 1 year is long enough. It better be Star Wars quality if I have to wait the same amount of time. -

I've completely missed the Marvel boat. Since Iron man 2-3, avengers, all the other movies and TV series I just got burned out. Is it worth investing the time to watch all those movies and TV series? I can't say I was ever into the comic books. I briefly collected trading cards as a kid, but never really knew the stories beyond watching a few cartoons (Spiderman, Batman (DC) and X-men was about it). I liked TNMT and Dragonball Z more. However, I suppose I could maybe get into this marvel universe thing. EDIT: Movie and TV show Chronology One blaring thing I've noticed it the complete lack of X-men, fantastic four, and deadpool from this universe. Is there any explanation for that? -
I have 32GB of internal storage and 120GB external. I get a "you need to free up space" warning every time my phone needs to update. WHY??? It blames it on my apps, says they take up 20GB, but I don't have that many. Also, android has no way to move them all at once, I have to move them one by one. Jerks! And while were on the space filling up pet peeve: It's always the Winsxs folder. All those security updates and system restore points that fills up my C drive. And if you follow their instructions to delete unnecessary files, it only saves a few hundred MB and the WinSXS folder is still like 20GB. It just keeps getting bigger, and the only way to stop it is to take the chance of deleting some of it's contents or installing windows fresh. Jerks! EDIT: I did a bit more digging and apparently the winsxs folder uses hard-links that are not correctly handled by file explorer. It counts them as taking up physical space in the winsxs folder when they simply point to another location where it is actually. So it essentially counts the same thing twice and reports back that the winsxs file is much bigger than it actually is. So while the above is annoying and a Pet peeve, it's not as bad as I originally thought.

It couldn't handle the whole task on it's own without "tweaking". That means the robot went insane and had to see a shrink, or the robot equivalent. My question is, does it simply execute sub-routines for each task (scanning, planning, fitting, and assembly)? Or can it revise it's own sub-routines to 'create a solution' to a problem for which it has not been pre-programmed. I'll be impressed then. Still, it's a notable achievement.

Winner winner! Yes, it's another example of how Hammond and his park builders recklessly crammed plants and animals from different eras together into essentially one big deathmatch. And which one was dominant at the end? T-Rex, from the cretaceous; maybe that's why he tore down the Jurassic Park sign and Roared. "I'm from the cretaceous, puny human. Get your facts strait."
-
They need to stop programming exact movements. Robots that will be useful in these situations will need AI - to figure it out based on the type of task and varying objects. If any carefully pre-programmed movement is off, the rest of the build is ruined. Alas, a brain is necessary to reason out a solution. So give it one, and watch it go insane! After all, that's what happens when the answer to "why am I here" is "to build IKEA furniture".

You wouldn't find one at a pet store, they don't sell well anywhere except on TV. I've given alot of thought as to what "pet" (I'm applying the term loosly) best embodies a "peeve" and I think I have it:

Sends shivers down my spine!

Most people who donate to charities or NGO's already have them picked out. This is a guilt trip ambush! Don't feel bad about saying no.

For example, a couple of known trouble makers in my class took advantage of a naive substitute teacher by convincing him our regular teacher gave them permission to display a GWAR concert during class. If you know the band GWAR, then you can understand the level of inappropriate! We got well past the blood spewing, aduiance bathing dragon slaying, and to the part of the honeymoon where the main performer's giant phallus dowses the audience before the substitute teacher decided he'd been duped. I can tell you the consequences were light and unremarkable. I think they got suspended, but were back a couple of days later. No social media for it to blow up on and make a national scandal forcing the hammer of expulsion.
-
At least it's not that bad, kinda lude and objective, but I've seen way worse at school. I wonder why it got so much run? Scares me to think what would have happened if Social media and cell phones were around when I was in school. Crazy!

I know the type you meant. I wasn't disagreeing with you, although it would look like it to people who make my next peeve... People who think in black and white terms only! No gray areas or exceptions to any rule. Right and wrong, good and bad, pros and cons, nothing in between can exit! Basically people without imagination or common sense.
