  1. RETRO ACHIEVEMENTS LAUNCHER Current Version: 0.0.1 (BETA RELEASE) The Retro Achievements Launcher is your all-in-one launcher for adding achievements to your favorite classic games. This utility can handle many aspects, including listing achievements and progress for each game supported by the RetroAchievements.org development team. This release is still in beta, for a list of upcoming features check out the list at the end of this post. Current features include: See all the supported games by systemCurrently the launcher supports the following systems: NES, SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive, TG 16 - PC Engine, GameBoy, GameBoy Color, GameBoy AdvanceThe app lists the games in the RA database, games without achievements attached show up as "Unavailable" in the game details paneDownload, update, and install all systems supported by the RA communityPreesing the EMULATOR SETTINGS button launches the editor: The INSTALL button will install the emulator into the path you specifyThe UPDATE button downloads and installs the emulator in your current pathThe CONFIGURE button launches the emulator without a ROM so you can make changes to the emulatorThe WEB PAGE button takes you to the emulator's page on RetroAchievements.orgSpecify Launch Before/Launch After optionsAdding an EXE and args to either of these will set up an application to launch at the time you specifySupports BAT filesGame LaunchingBrowse to the ROM you want to play and press LAUNCH. Once I finish the UI, I will make an EXE that handles the launching in a command-line environment for full GameEx integrationThe configuration will be read from the UI settings, and no user intervention will be necessary other than setting it up in GameEx -> CommandLine=RALauncherCore.exe -system 0 -rom "[RomPath]/[RomFile]" Notes: As this is a BETA release, there may be some issues with it (although I haven't personally had any issues). If you do happen to hit a snag, please report it here. This release uses a new DLL that I will release for future developers, that handles pretty much all the RA work in itself. You can get DataSets containing much of the data, and get the URLs for several RA features including download paths, forum topic paths, and emulator pages. This DLL also taps into the new Retro Achievements Web API system that I put together, which is publicly available, and supports API calls in XML, JSON, PHP dumps, and Tables. You can have a look at that or see some sample API calls here. Thanks to Scott over at RA for his help and support, and Draco for his header logo I used in this app. If you want to give it a run, download it from here.

  2. Hi. I have just created 54 different DMD videos that's shorter, loopable and without washed out colors than the ones previously released. After feedback I raised the brightness and contrast somewhat. They are attached in this post and also uploaded to the FTP (Other Uploades/Pipshag). I'd also like to point out that theese captures are in 256 x 64 and would perhaps have compability with any DMD-screens. Since I don't own one I have no idea about the technicality behind it so no guarantees. Since vPinmame automatically adds padding I have cropped down the videos to meet the above mentioned pixels. This also means that you may have to adjust PinballX DMD positioning with 2-3 pixels. For those that want to recreate and add some own videos, see the below specs. 3. Please welcome our newest Hi-score competition moderator DazzleHP !! Dazz offered to join our hi-score competition as a third backup HS mod. I've talked with Han about this and we both think this is a great idea, especially if we want to keep our hi-score competition running for many years. If any of us - due to whatever reason - doesn't have time or energy to update everything we always have two backups willing to save the day From the beginning Dazz has promoted the original idea of the GameEx Hi-score competition me and Han have started !! Plus he has skills we can definitely use: always willing to help out others and having quite a lot of knowledge about GameEx ...and most important: he's a nice person ! Welcome to the "HS Mod Clan" Dazz

  4. As part of GameEx Evolution (the sequel to GameEx) a new feature is being introduced - GameEx Online. GameEx online allows access to your game library and associated media and assets from any web enabled device and also allows you to remote control the software. GameEx online is being piloted with PinballX before GameEx evolution is released and is now available in the latest version of PinballX. Visit the GameEx Online site at online.gameex.com View the full article

  5. Its just for control of GameEx. Right now the current functionality allows launching games and shutting down the app and the PC. Although for GameEx evolution I may add the ability to launch other media and change settings.

  6. This for me is worth the license fee alone! To be able to organize your whole menu system, how you want with such ease! I couldn't personally live without it. I even wrote a simple guide. But then i am also a bit biased Bottom line is there are many obvious reasons to purchase a license, and many subtle ones that will become prevalent once you have used it for a while (registered or not). Many regular updates! I've used 100's of software in my time, none match the frequency of updates that GameEx has (which doesn't cost you, the user), bugfixes that usually come so fast, most people aren't even aware of them existing in the first place, and Tom, the actual Author of GameEx always being present and active on the forum - I literally dare you to name any similar software that matches that kind of service! These alone deserve a purchase IMO without all the extra magic you get with a license That is all just of course my own opinion You are free to make your own choice.

  7. Thanks all involved in coming to this decision. I'm honored to be part of the HS team! I don't think any of us realised just how popular the HS Comp would be - and it's great to see it doing so well! However i felt that it had become just ever so slightly too large for 2 people to manage without a bit of pressure being felt by any party, and so offered myself as an extra layer of support. The HS Comp is and was always about having fun and for that reason i would hate for it to become a chore or burden to anyone involved and so hope to lighten the load a little bit in times when things get a lil crazy I'll probably just be a silent helper of sorts but nonetheless am proud to help out if i can Thanks again all! ~Darren

  10. It's worth the price, plenty of extras in the registered version as mentioned by null, and a great team to solve any issues if you ever run into any.

  11. It was worth the Money to me just to remove the mag screens lol. Coming from a Above average, but below you guys state of knowledge, gameex is god. I've dabbled with hyperspin multiple times. And realized it takes. Genius to get it to run properly. Fxck hyperspin. I reverted to such front ends such as mamewah.. Until somehow the greatest front end to elude me came.. I was happy to support gameex. the nag screens had to go for my cabinet. The community is awesome and has helped me with EVERYTHING I asked. And the features and updates are great. I'd say between its features, Future upgrades, community, And just appreciation for the creators.. I'd say register.
