  1. There is now a seperate games list for MAME CHD games. A list update is required to show them.It seems MAME now prompts for exit and GameEx was not closing the process if it detected the escape key. This now happens. View the full article

  4. So you are the big 35 today! Happy Birthday! Now for the not so good news which I will bullet point below: - The Detroit Lions, while better than my Jacksonville Jaguars, will NOT go to the Superbowl this year. Accept this disappointment now and you will be the better for it come January. - The Detroit Tigers will NOT win the league pennant and will NOT make it to the World Series again in your lifetime. Just another fact of life. Look at years 1947-1964 if you don't believe me. Deal. - At 35 or later, "secretary spread" is less likely getting lucky with the office chick 3 cubes down and more likely your hips assuming that "child bearing ass-flattening posture" from sitting about more than you move about. That's the truth! - The 20 Somethings with their hard bodies and good looks are fading faster into the "rear view mirror" of your life. If you misinterpret a kind response for interest at a bar, you are most likely going to be shot down in flames, hear something like "You're almost old enough to be my father" or some such (unless you are Jay-Z stinkin' rich, then count on having your knob slobbed hourly, Daddy Warbucks!). Hopefully, this dose of reality hasn't sullied your birthday and you party like its 1999. Rock on, sir!

  6. Lol one thing I learned about building my cab - the work and fun never really ends . There is always something to add, etc to it. As for KI2, I have it running flawlessly in (i think) v103 - I'm not 100% sure if that's the right version, but I'll let ya know in a few hours or so when I get home . The MK4, like the reason why NFL Blitz doesn't work correctly as nullPointer explained, is a game that hasn't been fully emulated through mame yet. I'm sure though that in due time, these games will be more than likely working 100% in future releases of mame. It's good though to use a couple versions of mame if you have quite a number of games. One example is mwalk (Michael Jackson's Moonwalker)...in the main version of mame I have in my cab, mwalk looks grainy, discolored, and a little choppy. I have the mapping magician "telling" GameEx to open mwalk through the newer version of mame, where the game looks much, much better lol

  7. Hi m1rock! Welcome to the GameEx forums! Always great to see such enthusiasm from new members! It sounds like you've been pretty successful overall in getting your system setup thus far. Well done! So let's jump on some questions. I’m not entirely familiar with the IGT slots line, but based on your comments I’d recommend looking into setting it up as an emulator rather than an external application. That will provide an edge over running it as an external application (among other things you’ll be able to leverage an Advanced Emulator Config). I’d recommend converting your movie to MP4 format. GameEx supports several video formats, but that’s currently the most common/preferred format. Handbrake should be able to handle the conversion without breaking a sweat. (it’s a brilliant piece of kit if you’ve never had the opportunity to try it out) This may or may not lead to questions regarding codecs. If the MP4 doesn’t play in GameEx the standard advice around here is to install the Shark007 codec pack There’s not a tutorial available, but the app itself is not terribly difficult to dive into. Several members here are running custom menus, so there’s a lot of assistance available should you hit a rough patch. If I may be so bold, we’ve got a lot of very sharp members here. Tempest is one such member. A while back he wrote an app called MAME Mapping Magician to address this very need in GameEx. You can find that utility here: Start Menu > All Programs > GameEx > Configuration > MAME Emu Maps So those are some brief answers to some very good questions, any one of which could open up an entire topic of discussion. Don’t be afraid to ask any questions you may have regarding any aspect of it! This forum has a lot of very knowledgeable, helpful individuals, and we tend to keep the snark to a minimum (as opposed to some emulation based forums). Noobs welcome here! We all had dumb questions when we started out (heck I have them on a regular ongoing basis). But the point is that they’re not dumb questions at all as that’s how we all learned the ins and outs of this (nuanced and occasionally frustrating) hobby. The only deficiency occurs where you’re afraid to ask. Hope to see you around man!

  8. NFL Blitz is just one of those games that's notoriously difficult to emulate through MAME. I don't know that I've ever heard of someone getting it to emulate perfectly in MAME. The PS1 is probably a fairly solid alternative, although I believe the Dreamcast version has better graphics and sound (Not entirely sure, but I think the DC version is actually a bit closer to the arcade version).
