What are map files and OfflineList files for?

I see these options in the GameEx Config and have searched the forums for "map" (which btw returned no results...odd) and Offline list dats.

From what I gather it seems they are for having the proper name of the ROMS appear... but mine do anyway without these... so I don't know if it is an old feature or what...

I also saw someone say that it can make the ROMS you don't have appear in a different color... if that is true that would be really handy..

Thanks for the noob lesson :P

A MAP file lets you give friendly names to ROMS.

EG.. look at the mame roms... SF2 is Street Fighter II so gameex uses a MAP file to make the name appear more friendly.

An Offline list is the same... It will go off the CRC of the ROM and give you the friendly name

You may not need this because your ROM names are intuituve... But this isnt always the case.. And is why the option exists.
