GameEx back button not working

I just noticed this with the latest version, but it could have started in an earlier release. After playing for a while, the back button won't let me out of the MAME game info menu. I can hit home (which is only on my keyboard) and it takes me to the home screen, but if I hit back it will go back into that game. The back/select combo that should take me home doesn't seem to work.

For background, I am using custom keyboard input (A, S, D, F for buttons select, back, volume, paging). I don't think the log showed anything interesting, but I can grab one if needed. This has happened more than once, so I know it's not a one time thing.
