Definately not ROMs, but perhaps some of the others could be worked into the Setup Wizard. Not sure if Tom would want to host all those big files though, it would end up being pretty expensive.

BTW I like this new forum feature of the first post always being at the top. It makes adding new votes easier :)

Not sure what you mean here. I thought this was a default of forums, whereas blogs are defaulted the other way. What I hate is forum structures like Mameworld, for example, where you can post anywhere within a thread. MESSY. I prefer it to be a tree enforced by chronological order.

You can always view the thread that way, can't you (flat mode)? It's not set that way by default though.

On one UBB-type forum it would do that, but it would show the body of each post - inefficient - though I can't get that to image at Mameworld. There's something in the way UBB is coded that it's a general clusterfuck. Fortunately, this forum type is one that shows threads as headings along with links to new posts as 'last post' rather than a 'new' tag that will go away when you view it. In the latter, if you want to go back for any reason, you have to enter the most recent page of the thread and scroll - lame. The only thing that would be better would be to change our general sense of orientation in these things and have all the main links, etc, at the bottom, and have things proceed from top to bottom in the vein of how we read...or we could go the other way and read up like the Asians. Basically, keep it one direction through-out levels.

Feature: Horizontal Database Menus

Sorry for posting another time Headkaze, but this one is close to my heart.

Horizonatal menus would allow much larger pictures + make theme creation easier, and would give a bit more variety. More Info here: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?s=...ost&p=13236

Thanks

Just for your info, this is exactly what V3 themes are going to do. I started work on it back in January.

Request:

Emulated Groups should be under Emulated Games and there should be an ability to determine where it goes on that page instead of it just popping up at the top of the page (as it does on the main page of gameex currently).

2nd Request:

Movies that play before Gameex starts up should have the ability to be played either randomly or one after another. I have 3 movies and it always seems like one of them plays more than the others.

3rd Request:

You know how BFGtech product cd's has that intro movie where there is a round green explosion and then the word BFG pops up. Gameex should pop up instead.

Vote: Search

I think that menu wrapping should go along with some way to jump say 20 or 30 roms at a time (maybe a settable amount) from the joystick. Similar to page up and page down. (Please shoot me if this is already possible...)

Kinda like page up and page down buttons.

I would like to have multiple rom folder options for emulators.

I.E. Pick a console from the 'Emulator Selection Screen' then get given a choice of which folder of roms you would like to go into. I have tried explaining what I mean underneath. I think this would be very cool.

Rather than have the console set up 3+ times in the emulator selection screen. Or putting all your roms in the same folder. I like to keep the regions separate.

I would vote for Custom control panel viewer.

Name: Slideshow / play images or videos located in sub folders

Description: For videos / pictures organized in folders an option to select a parent folder and play all videos / show all images located in all subfolders.

Name: Search

Description: Search by typing in part of game name by typing on keyboard directly or using onscreen keyboard. Feature should be available on the Mame game list screen or other emulation game list screens and available at the main GameEx menu to search across all games including MAME and other emulation game lists. For example you want to find any game that may be based on a comic book character. You type the name of the comic book character and 2 results display in MAME and maybe 1 under another emulated system and 3 under another etc..

Thanks!

Yes you can do this from a joystick currently. Use the paging button and left/right to move up/down a page. Also, the newest version has a simplified interface that allows you to use left/right for paging and up/down for selection.

Okay this is not for new feature requests (they go in the pinned topic at the top of the forum). This topic is your most wanted feature request that you've already requested. It means you get the opportunity to say what you would like to see in GameEx again without sounding like your nagging.

There is no guarantee of a feature being implemented but it might help Tom better see the popularity of some requests.

If a feature is mentioned twice or more it gets on the most wanted list with a running tally of how many people have requested the feature. You get two votes, one for a unique feature and the second for someone elses feature to add to the vote tally. So what are your two most wanted features?

Here is mine as an example Eg.

Your second vote should just be the name of a current feature on the list (this includes Pending Requests) Eg.

GameEx Most Wanted Features

[6 Votes] Menu wrapping

[6 Votes] Browsing music in Jukebox by folder

[6 Votes] Search

[3 Votes] In-game music toggle and volume control

[2 Votes] E-Book / Comic book reader support

[2 Votes] Custom Control Panel viewer

[2 Votes] Auto mount un-mount image files / multiple image file change

[2 Votes] Scroll through lists with a mouse / spinner / trackball (mouse moves list rather than selector bar)

[2 Votes] Letter jump in menu using Joypad

Pending Requests

[1 Vote] More flexibility for Themes / Theme Editor

[1 Vote] Integrated full control key remapping / multi-key mapping / multi-button mapping

[1 Vote] Custom Mame Background

[1 Vote] More attract mode options (Eg. Slideshow & Music)

[1 Vote] Play game now button (to skip info screen without turning it off)

[1 Vote] Joystick / key mappings image display for emulators (other than Mame)

[1 Vote] Slideshow via Jukebox ("Random SlideShow" under "Playlist More" option in the jukebox)

Implemented

[1 Vote] Support for 12 buttons in gamepad map keys, currently only 10 buttons are usable

I see that 2 of the 3 most wanted features from last year have been implemented now, any chance of getting Menu Wrapping added so I can have my perfect front end :)

Even after a year and a half of using GameEx I still try to jump from the top of my games lists to the bottom by pressing up before realising it can't be done :)

This topic is before my time.....

I would like to see fully customizable pages - so I can choose what shows up on what page. I envision it as a set of folders and files, if you click on something that is a folder, it takes you to another page. If you click on a file it starts an application.
