I am having an issue that seemed to start when updating Pixel Cade. When running Gameex AE I no longer get the graphic of the emulator when scrolling through the list of emulators.  It works fine once I select the emulator and shows game titles just fine. But it just shows a generic "MAME" graphic when scrolling through emulators. It was working fine before the last Pixel Cade update. I have sent my logs to Pixel cade and also LEDblinky. They think it is a problem with Gameex not sending the command to show the emulator and suggested to reach out to you.

Going forward, please post Pixelcade system info and debug messages in one document and attach it to the thread. I copy & pasted all 758 lines of text (including blanks) and attached to your first post in the thread - WAY too much to scroll through in the forums!

Also attach your Pixelcade-settings.ini file.

The latest version we have of LEDBlinky is 7.0.4 and the latest GameEx version is GameEx 19.72. Is that the version of LEDBlinky you are using?

I would ask the Pixelcade and LEDBlinky authors to confirm the latest version they have of GameEx to test against. Neither author have been seen on the site since 2022, so it is very possible that changes they have made to their versions have outpaced any updates to GameEx. We depend upon the plugin authors to provide us with an updated version that is GameEx-compatible whenever they have made coding changes. The fact that you updated Pixelcade version and it stopped working also bears this out.

The latest versions of both LEDBlinky and Pixelcade:

P.S. While we may still need to get to the bottom of this with the latest version, have you tried reinstalling and running the previous version of Pixelcade?

  • Draco1962 changed the title to Pixelcade not showing emulator titles when scrolling.

I thought about that but cannot find an older version to download and install. The DEV on Discord said he did not have the older versions anymore. He said he would look into running Pixelcade on the newest version of Gameex when he had time. Have not heard back from him yet.

You could try the latest version of GameEx. i did look and looks like you are running an older version.

Did you update ledblinker or was it just pixelcade?

Does the pixelcade work at all now?

I tried the latest version of Gameex yesterday and it didn't change anything. I updated PixelCade and the problem started, so I then updated LEDBlinky. That did not fix anything. PixelCade works fine other than the Emulator titles. Games work fine, Intro message displays fine and the exit message is fine. I can scroll through any game list (mame or emulator) and it works great. Just not the actual emulator title (NES, SNES Playstation etc.) If I pick an emulator from the list. Let's say PlayStation, I will open the game list, and it displays the name of the game fine. If it gets to a game that does not have a file for PixelCade it will then show the emulator graphic.  And if I back out of PlayStation without picking a game the PlayStation graphic will stay on the screen until I pick a new emulator and scroll through its game list. PixelCade is just not getting a command to change to the emulator graphics. But all else works.

If the previous version of Pixelcade displayed the emulator titles, I am not sure that there's anything that can be done on the GameEx side to compensate for their apparent code change. That said, I appreciate the awareness.

We definitely need to know what changes they made, whether or not corresponding updates were made to the latest version of LEDBlinky or if any update of LEDBlinky plugin is required, and what, if any testing was done by either/both with recent versions of GameEx.

Keep us posted on what either dev has to say.
