I remember working for Software Etc. (former competitor turned sister company of Babbages) and seeing Netscape Navigator on the Applications sales rack. It didn't last long after Microsoft started packaging Internet Explorer (licensed from Spyglass Mosaic) as an add-on to Windows 95.

While I may wax nostalgically about my time there, I do not miss the calls from the snot-nosed "tweens' calling to see when "XYZ" was being released for "ABC" console, or pushing to provide them the cheat codes for various games - "Erm-um, call Nintendo, dumbass!" Well, we couldn't say that, but we would give them the US corporate toll-free number to the various manufacturers and we thought it real hard! :P
