[RESOLVED] Backglas and DMD are Displaying in the same Monitor in Preview!!

I have a big problem with my V-Pin.

If I start the Visual Pinball Tables manually, everything works correctly, the Playfield and DMD and Backglass are displayed on the correct monitors.

But as soon as I start PinballX, the Backglass and the DMD are displayed in the same Monitor when previewing the Pinball Tables.

 

I've already tried every Monitor 1 to 5 settings in the PinballX Monitor Number Setting but I can't get it to work.

Still the same.

Allways DMD and Backglas on the Same Monitor!!

Now I've tried so many things all weekend for many hours but I can't get it set up correctly.

 

What else can I do?

@NEWER Not sure what you mean, are the DMD and Backglass appearing on the same monitor in PinballX or after launching a table with Visual Pinball?

(it looks like your DMD isn't enabled in PinballX.ini?)

Can you post a photo of what you're seeing.

I mean the DMD and Backglass appearing on the same monitor in PinballX in Preview Modus in Pinball X ....

 

After Launching with PinballX all works fine and all on the right Monitor.

 

Only Preview show DMD and Backglas in one Monitor.

 

Hope you understand what i mean.

 

Where i can post it to which place please?

So it looks like you do not have the DMD screen active in PinballX, but are instead using the vpinmame DMD. Is that intentional?

@scuttersthanks, I found the duplicate in the Touch Play General forum and merged it with this one 

Not sure where the confusion was, but that much is fixed.

P.S. I also pruned duplicate of original thread and non-essential subsequent posts for better clarity of the issue and triage progression.

Thank you i try all out on and of with the DMD Settings but still no Displaying any backglas Media in Preview ...

 

If i start a table from the Preview so all working fine but no luck in PinballX

 

The DMD Media and the Backglas Media is displaying in the DMD Monitor in the same time they overlap.

So i dont know what i can do anymore thats like bad magic...

 

Auto show media is on yes but still no Media.

there are auto position and auto configure settings in the setup wizard. in the odd instance these need to be turned off.

Your graphics drivers have probably been updated and messed up your screen numbers.

I think you have 3 options;

1. Clear the relevant parts of the windows registry (see https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/736116-windows-display-properties-identify-numbers-are)
2. Although PinballX settings.exe only allows monitor numbers 1-5, you can manually adjust the pinballx.ini file to higher numbers by adjusting the 'monitor=' bit under the [BackGlass] section. This would be hit and miss, so try and edit to 6 and open pinball to see if that works, and if not close pinballx and edit again to 7, try pinballx again and repeat..
3. Set the Backglass monitor id to the same as the DMD moniotr id and then use the x and y offset values to move it (relative to the DMD screen, so maybe x = -1920). In this section of Pinballx setttings;

Option 3 is probably the easiest (and safest) method so i'd recommend trying that. As i don't know how your screens are layed out in windows i can't suggest what the values for the x offset should be (-1920 is just a guess).

I try out to change the Position from the Backglas with x and y but dont work.

I use 2 Grafik Cards in my Setup sinsce many Years and with Windows XP and also with Windows 7 all works great with this 2 Grafikcards.

 

I noticed in my display settings that Windows 10 only assigned a number to 2 out of 3 monitors when detecting monitors.

The playfield was given the number 2 by Windows and the Backglas was given the number 3. But the DMD didn't get a number from Windows when it was recognized.

But all 3 monitors were recognized by Windows but only 2 got a number.

Can I assign a number manually or what can I do now, I think that's where the problem is.

 

I use W10 Pro with a GTX 1080 Graphics Card. The 46 inch playifield and the 17 inch DMD are connected to the GTX 1080.

The Backglass is connected to a second AMD 6670 HD Graphics Card and Windows give it a Number 3 for it.

Why the DMD have no Number?

Could you please provide a screenshot, as this is a feature I am unfamiliar with?

Upon clicking the "Identify Screens" option, will the screen number be omitted from the display?

Furthermore, could you share the updated pinballx.ini and log.txt files, as I am curious to verify the settings modifications requested by Scutters and confirm their accuracy, as implemented by Ted.

Have you tried placing the back glass and the DMD monitors on the AMD GPU, leaving the Playfield monitor solo on the Nvidia GPU?

I missed that two were two GPU's active when i first looked at the log file, as both are being used for different screens that probably is a factor.

I don't have a two GPU set up to test on to try and reproduce.

@NEWERTry different combinations of GPU connections as suggested above and attach a screenshot of the windows ids being shown

I would also suggest that you reinstall the latest manufacturer's drivers, using the Clean Installation option if offered instead of Express installation. This will ensure that you have a clean driver installed for each GPU in the event of corrupt install previously.

I was not at Home work the hole Week in other City.

Now iam back and i try few thinks ou today.

 

First of all i will say a big thank you to all who will helping me in my Situation.

Many many thanks to all you out there.

I find a Solution who working.

I change the DMD and the Backglas to the 6670 GPU and the Playfield works with the 1080 GPU.

Playfield and Backglass is now setting to Display 1 and the DMD is setting to Display 3 

Next i setting the Backglas Position X to 1920 and after this the Backglas is in the Right Position in Backglas.

I wouldn,t have been able to do it without you  and your Great Information.

Its crazy because in Windows the Monitor numbers Identify Screens" like  Playfield 1, Backglas 2 and the DMD are 3.

But this Screen Numbers didn't work in PinballX.

If i change the Numbers Backglas and Playfield to 1 and move the Bachglas with the x Option all works great.

Crazy 

 Without your Tips i will never finsihed this Settings

Odd that the screen numbers are still not showing but could be an artifact of two different brands of GPUs.  I just don't know, but, if it is working as you expect otherwise, I am not going to sneeze at it!
