[RESOLVED] PBX v6.20 - Cant exit VP10 and return to the PBX browser. PBX freezes and must be force closed.

Yeah, i noticed the same. A 'long' delay when pressing e it (screen gets blacl) and ofter 7 seconds pinballx is showing. 

I think this is a seperated issue as the hang part of wrd1972. Best is to update your post and gets Tom attention

I could reproduce on the desktop too, just took longer for me (and sorry Mike the pinemhi exe rename didn't  work for me)

From the log it looks like when PinballX hung it hadn't recognised the Visual Pinball Player window after the table had loaded (so it hung and was still showing the Loading screen behind VPX).

In task manager the visual pinball player process was present though, just for some reason PinballX hadn't seen it;

Edit - I haven't seen the problem at with DX or GL versions of VPX RC6 when used under 'Other Systems' with the 'System Type' set to 'Custom' instead of 'Visual Pinball' (as PinballX doesn't then do any foreground window checks etc for VP so that makes sense). It's of no use to people who have all VPX tables under the main Visual Pinball system entry, but if you use Other Systems then it might be worth a go.

Maybe I am nuts, but its the same thing? I just had a party tonight and could not play any virtuea at all. Counting on you guys to figure this thing out.  Lew me know what I am missing here and I am more than happy to test.

FWIW, this is the issue I had with 6.20 as well. I tried a few earlier versions with the same issue. I've been running 6.07 without issues. I don't have a lot else to offer, just that whatever issue with long exits exist in 6.20, do NOT exist in 6.07.

Did you have issues with vpx 10.8 or just with 10.7 ?

Just installed 6.22. Same exact issue. PBX loads the table the first time, and exits the first time. Reload the table, and its not possible to exit back to the PBX browser. If you manually kill the VPX editor, you get a hang on the loading screen for PBX.

 

I just now tried the exact same table, but this time it loaded the table, but would not exit even on the first attempt.

 

Mike, Please link me to 6.07 and I will try that to see if it works the way it should. Thanks.

PinballX comes with a pdf. Its explained precisely how to go back to a previous version (maybe explained in Denglish 😛 )

I'm finally back into VP and stuff after 1 year off.  I upgraded my VPX to latest stuff along with VPinMAME, B2S, FlexDMD and everything was working great.  I decided to upgrade from 6.05 to 6.22 (just released a few hours ago) and it just freezes upon launch.  I can't get the log right now as I'm doing a backup before I make anymore changes.  Just curious if 6.22 is working for people or not. 

I did reinstall 6.05 ontop of 6.22 and it was working again if that helps.  I also tried renaming PINemHi.exe but still same,

The only PDF I can find is the one called (see below). I searched on "revert" and found nothing. I searched on "older version", and found nothing. The link you posted dead ends.

I am willing to help you guys troubleshoot, but I need a better understanding of what to do beyond the "high level". Is this the file your attempting to point me to. Can you screen grab and post the content to point me to trying an older  level? Can you tell me precisely the search criteria for this file?

Basically, on the PinballX download page click See Changelog, select the version and click the download text in the changelog area.

Okay I installed 6.07. Same problem. Then installed 6.0, and saw a step forward, a step back. I saw it open three times, and then not exit. I saw it open twice, and not exit. I saw it open once, and not exit.  I saw a very similar thing with 6.20 as well. Weird that there is so much randomness here.

Please try V6.23. Think Tom has fixed the issue with the GL version of VPX, looks like it works for me anyway (although with the randomness of the issue it's hard to be 100% certain).

Holy shit were fixed with 6.23. I opened and closed a problematic table 15 times in a row without it barfing. This was using VP10 RC6 (DXversion). Not sure about the latest 10.8.1 beta. I am very happy with this. What was the issue?

Oh yeah. The time from exiting VP10 and retuning to the browser is 9 seconds. I am pretty sure at some point in the past it was easily half that. I can certainly live with this, but just wanted to mention it.

Hoping someone saw my response that the issue was resolved in 6.23. Just hoping the fix makes it into the newer revs.
