I was hoping to get the Asus BE98 and it was briefly available Amazon directly and I ordered it. It was Amazon direct but not for delivery until March. i cancelled and went with the be96. Spec looks very similar other than second 5ghz band which with Intel wifi 7 cards for laptop and PC now available I didn't need. With the intel wifi 7 cards now easily available I hit the trigger. All due to arrive today (Sunday). No Merlin firmware yet but its just going to be an access point. Unfortunately means I also have to upgrade to Windows 11 from 10. No 6ghz support from Intel on 10.

After more testing fully ensuring the Wi-Fi is the bottleneck maximum speed is still 3 GB. i was hoping for a little more but its as max you can also get with a USB 5gb adapter.

Maybe ill get more when the Wi-Fi 7 MLO updates come out. Ill report back.

Impressive! I am using the Wifi that comes with the AT&T Humax BGW320-500 Fiber modem/router. It's range is actually impressive and I can get outside into my driveway without an endpoint or range expanders. Other than my hobbies and work, we stream mainly in the livingroom about 20 feet and a few walls away from my office.

Might need to enlist you for some assistance on my Asus WiFi 6 setup.  It constantly drops wifi.  I have sent in emails to Asus support and they always ask for more information every time.  I think I am on my 6th email to support where I give them the information they ask for and then they ask for something more.  I am beginning to think they have no clue and they are just stringing me along until I give up on sending them information.

My latest to them was that for some reason my Raspberry Pi's pick up what appears to be a twin of my 2.4 gHz when I set them up.  There appeared to be something with my Amazon items and their "easy install" of new items onto the network, so I turned all that off.  Nice of them to have that and their sidewalk piece just active out of the box.  Their response to this was wanting the model and MAC of all devices seeing two networks.  Fun times.

Have you done a factory reset and updated any available firmware?

That would be where I would start, if you haven’t already.

I have a couple Synology wifi routers and a lot of bugs got fixed along the way after initial release.
