Roger Waters - Dark Side of the Moon Redux

Regarding Roger Waters DOSTM Redux to be released in October, I have a one word question - Why? 

Only two songs have been released. Being an avid Pink Floyd fan and a fan of botrh Roger Waters and David Gilmour's solo ventures I had higher expectations.

Both sound like he is in a smokey jazz lounge gasping oxygen on life support, especially his "spoken word" rendition of Money.  

While I like many covers of original songs (which these feel like), these seem to have lost a lot of life in the retelling rather than embellishing and building upon two classics.

When I saw the release date I knew I had to get it. That said I pre-ordered without any knowledge of these two preview releases.

Roger's shows are amazing, which weighed heavily into such a blind buy......

Time will tell....no pun intended.

Your post put me on a quest for additional information.

Apparently "The Lockdown Sessions" inspired this, and that being the case, then the above speaks for that release as well. Needless to say I cancelled my pre-order! Some will no doubt like this alternate "inspiration", but I'm not one of them.

There may be some diamonds in the rough, but when you essentially suck the soul out of two of the best originals to the point that the rasping of a coma patient on a ventilator is almost preferable... I mean. Damn.

His earlier solos, such as "The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking" and "Radio K.A O.S"  were great albums IMO.

These have more fidelity and redeeming value:

I loved The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking, but never invested enough listing time to fully appreciate K.A.O.S or Amused to Death.
