Wimpie
I'm using the Auto position DMD option. The VPINMAME DMD is put on the correct monitor, with the correct width. That part works fine. The height, however is NOT correct, the entire DMD is squashed. The DMD in PinballX itself is shown just fine, it's the VPINMAME DMD that's not correct. Mike_da_Spike
Is it vpinmame dmd or freezy' dmdext you are using ? I have a real dmd, so imnot sure, but thought that pinballx will set vpinmame dmd and not freezy's virtual dmd
Wimpie
Using VPINMAME dmd. The DMD *is* visible on the correct screen with the correct width. Only the height is incorrect.
Mike_da_Spike
Whats wrong with the height ? You defined in your config : width=1280 height=400 A normal dmd is 128x32 (so in your case 1280x320) is it stretch now, or do you miss pixels ? Wimpie
My DMD screen is 1280x400. This is how it shows up. It's like 40 pixels high instead of 400.
Wimpie
(and no, there's nothing wrong with my setup, when I re-align the DMD in VPINMAME things work just fine... it's definately PinballX messing up with the settings)
Draco1962
Again, please attach copies of your pinballx.ini and log.txt files whenever reporting an issue or error. This is the best way to get a response to them. Thank you.
Mike_da_Spike
Why not turnimg off vpinmame dmd alignment? You say it works when you set it manually. I thought it was jist a 1 time setup on vpinmame. Which version of vpinmame are you using ?
Wimpie
I could turn off the alignment and the issue is gone. However, I thought this forum was used to forward bugs you've found. Well, this is a bug.
Mike_da_Spike
@Tom Speirs can you check, As I'm using a real DMD, I'm not able to test this

Tom Speirs
Sorry, I dont have access to more than one screen for a couple of weeks. Although, im not aware of any issues and perhaps it is related to your other issue. Try and get the playfield on screen one if you can. Or you can disable the auto position if its not working for you,
scutters
@Wimpie If you want to turn off the auto position of DMD in PinballX because it's not working for you and your pinmame registry positions all need updating then SetDMD is probably worth a look, https://www.pinballbulbs.com/files/setdmd.html. It's an old program but should do the trick for setting default position for new roms and also update any existing saved positions. Do make a backup of the vpm registry key first though as it suggests in the notes though (just in case).
Wimpie
Works fine with SetDMD, that's what I've been using before. But why use an external program when PinballX is supposed to do the same?

If you've run setdmd and set the vpiinmame default position value then you only need to run it once (unless you change your screen order). As it's a set and forget thing with setdmd why have PinballX position the DMD every time you start a SS table?
Wimpie
Yeah I know, once it's set it's gonna stay that way. Still wish my problems would be answered with "we're gonna fix that in the next version" instead of "use a workaround" 🙂
Tom Speirs
Im sorry your unhappy. The problem is these issues are just affecting you not the entire user base. So its hard to find a fix. ill have access to a cab in 10 days but I cant test before then.
Tom Speirs
Are you using extdmd for vpx? Which version? It could be something has changed there I have not adapted for. Is the issue with pinamme tables or otherwise?
Wimpie
I only have a basic installation with Virtual Pinball X (and vpinmame).
