FPS: First Person Shooter - Official Trailer (2023) FPS Documentary - I am excited for this, but the cost is prohibitive.

  • Digital Copy $49 USD.. A bit rich for my blood. After as much bank as many of these developers made over the years, I think that they could help pony up for  the cost to the makers and publisher to cover the cost to $15-20 USD price point and make much more.
  • "Standard" Blu-Ray $99 USD + Shipping. Are you F-ing kidding me? They can't throw in shipping? But you get your name in the credits. I bet it doesn't "play PONG!"
  • "Big Box" Blu-Ray $149 USD + Shipping. (smh)  More flare aka dust collectors. Name in the credits.
  • "Associaate Producer" $1499 USD + Shipping. Yay. You get two free tickets to the premier in addition to your name as an associate producer in the credits on IMDB and the poster + the raping of the Big Box and paying shipping. No travel or housing accomodation either. But name in the credits. yay.
  • "Producer" $3,499.00 USD + Shipping. The + shipping rape continues and you have no travel or housing accomodation, name in the credits, though!
  • "Executive Producer" $5999 USD + Shipping. Still getting gigged for shipping, Get to rub elbows with the crew and special guests, but no travel or housing accomodation. Oh, but name in the credits for being a total rube! AND IT STILL DOESN'T PLAY F-ING PONG! (Not sorry, Todd. Had to run with this gem! Love ya, Bud!)

Sorry, not sorry. I love the premise and have played many of the games in the trailer and then some. I have lots of love for the history and the craft. I know that there are some fanboys with much deeper pockets than me that will buy-in for the Producer level price points, but the three below that seem a bit abusive to the rest of us trying to eke out a modest living.

The drop from $49.99 to $17.99 is reasonable, but available for a limited time. Hopefully it will not be protected to the point that I can't burn it to physical media for archive.

I decided to spring for it at this price. I will watch it in a few sittings since it is a little over 4 hours long.

I'm considering it based the current price, but I've currently got stacks of movies I buy with good intentions.

Still, I was a huge fan of so many of these games that I'm drawn to it just thinking about the good olé days waiting for the id point releases for Quake and Quake II, even if it doesn't play PONG (which I missed in the OP at first BTW)  :D

Even at 14.99 it doesn't play PONG, but I sat through the first hour - LOTS of games before id was thing (the programmers were part of that early wave with converting Castle Wolfensten (top down crawler) into a 3D FPS and one of the first to use textured surfaces. So far so good for this effort!

I am going to have to see if there are versions of games I never played that can be run on our newer systems!
