Mouse hidden

And hilarious that it is "resolved".The fact that it is hidden is ridiculous, and that the suggested "fix" is to remote into the PC is laughable. Neither is a resolution. I have a better idea: DON'T HIDE MY 🤬 MOUSE.

PBX was installed on my machine for exactly as long as it took me to 1) realize that is WAS in fact PBX that was hiding my mouse, and 2) uninstall it without a mouse. Quality software! It is a shame too, as I was interested in checking it out. Oh well, thanks but no thanks... 😒

I'm sorry you get frustrated about the hide mouse.

PBX will hide the mouse during Start of PinballX, and will return the settings when it is closing PinballX in a normal way (not terminating the process)

The hide mouse is done, that you don't have accidently a mouse pointer during game play or recoding videos or snapshots.

If you want to have your mouse to setup things during launch of PinballX, you can use gamemanager.exe or Database manager and launch a table.
This will completely launch PBX (with all your settings , scripts, plugins etc) to the table , but will not hide your mouse.

I thought it was mentioned in one of the release notes, but not able to find it.

I guess you killed PinballX in taskmanager then rather than exiting out?. As Mike says, the mouse is restored during PinballX exit.

I can attest to a problem here.

Every time PBX closes it is not changing the cursor skin back from the transparent that PBX changes it to.
I really think this is a ridiculously incompetent way to hide a mouse cursor.
Any time you have a problem with a single program, you will lose function of the whole damn computer.

And just so we're clear,
hitting [start]
typing "mouse"
and then using tab and direction keys to select mouse cfg app [enter]
Then having to tab to additional options
Then having to tab to pointers
Then having to tab to the current theme, and then select, then reselect to overwrite
Then having to tab to apply

(Oh, and I didn't have to do that once. Nope, until, I figure out what's causing the problems in the setup, I'm gonna have to run the program over and over again, and reskin the cursor over and over again) Thanks, I really appreciate that!!!

Messing around with other systems in Windows IS NOT COOL!!!! *This is like the amatuer hour of amateur hour. I cannot imagine what benefits this has to the insane number of problems this creates...
And it doesn't go away with a restart, so it's basically the worst solution to a problem I have ever seen.

*2 cents*
Whatever in program solution exists... Yeah, regardless of the reason you didn't want to do that. DO THAT!!!
This is ridiculous!!!
I don't think a modern programming language exists that doesn't have a hide cursor function somewhere in it...

---

And if this is some kind of niche requirement... GIVE US THE OPTION NOT TO USE IT!!!

Can you please add your log file and your pinballx.ini ?

After you close PBX the mouse should be returned. If that isnt the case, something goes wrong

You have the option to not  to use it. Nobody is forcing to use it

If it really is causing you an issue you can swap out the blackdot.cur file in the PinballX folder. But i think time would be better spent working out why you're having an issue, is PinballX crashing so it doesn't restore the cursor on exit, or are you just powering of the pc without exiting Pinballx or something else?

Your log file is needed to work out why PinballX is crashing if that is the case.

Why does PinballX hide the cursor the way it does?, my guess is it's because the programs that it launches may themselves have cursor handling code on their start and exit - and the cursor may become visible on the emulator exit otherwise. But that's just my guess, would need Tom to confirm.

As I have been dealing with matters outside of the forum, I want to address the tone offered by @timhobbsand @NefariousFox. This is not how you request assistance with an issue.

If you are having a problem with the software, clearly state the issue and provide copies of your pinballx.ini and log.txt files so that the admins, elites, or other forum members can have a look at how you are set up and log results.

We do not always "get it right" or the issue is marked as RESOLVED for the OP because the person originating the thread opted to pursue a different solution.  You may not agree with the decision of the Author. That is OK.

If either of you honestly want to try to seek a solution, please open a new thread and provide the support files needed (pinballx.ini and log.txt) and work with the group here. You may get better results. It may take a LONG time for the author to enact a code change as some solutions require a deeper dive and impacts across the whole of the program need to be explored before implementation. And sometimes it is determined that no action is needed nor warranted.

Responding to a post from over 1.5 years ago with such disrespect and vitriol followed by yet another that piles on with just as much venom is not going to fly here.  This is not Facebook. We do not suffer trolling behavior of any kind. This is a warning to both.

I am locking this thread accordingly.

I guess I missed this sorry. Im not aware of any bug to this affect. There was a bug a while back but I fixed it. Hard to know whether the user is using the latest version without log files but if I did fix any bugs then it would be a feature request.
