I am in the process of setting up an arcade cadinet that will be running GameEx. I am currently using WinXP Pro for an OS. Ever since I loaded GameEx and .NET framework, I have to login to windows. I would like to be able to start the PC and have it startup GameEx right away. How can I avoid the login screen? Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have a solution?

you have to go to your regedit and add and validate autologon key (tips can be found on google)

I used the free TweakUI Microsoft PowerTool to designate an account with Administrator access to automatically login. This avoids the login screen. You also may want to look at the document on the links page of this site for hiding windows boot up screens. I used this as a template to my boot process and have a nice clean startup for my cabinet.

That´s right . Search for Autolog on XP.B.T.W. there are several programms (Tweakers) that can do that ,too , like Tune Up Utilities or others. I think xp Powertools can do that , too. But regedit is a simple way , too

Good Luck

You can also disable the new user that .Net installs. It's called ASPNET I believe. This can be done in Computer Managment > Local Users & Groups > Users.

Along with what Jeff said, delete and disable all the users except the main one you are using (control panel-user accounts) you should boot straight into the main account.

In WinXP, go the the Start Menu -> Run. When the dialog box pops up, type "control userpasswords2" then hit enter. There is a checkbox at the top that says "users must enter user name and password etc," deselect it. It'll ask for a user and password to autologin. Done. No it'll boot straight to windows. While I set up my system, I just throw a shortcut to GameEx into the windows startup folder. Almost seamless, and I can still use windows until I get things the way I want.
