[Resolved] Game Manager Not Saving All Info

I added several tables to my system, fired up Game Manager and they were all detected.  I did the initial import of media data, but did not like two of the wheel choices.  I individually selected the wheel option and clicked IMPORT.  I found alternates that I liked better and selected them.  Since there is no way (i know of) to tell Game Manager to "SAVE NOW" without exiting the app, I exited the app.  It did not realize I made any changes and quietly exited.  When I re-loaded it, the changes were not saved.  So, I thought I would be clever and tweak a setting to force the save.  When I tried to exit, Game Manager asked if I wanted to save my changes.  I said yes and the program exited.  When I relaunched, only the setting I tweaked to trick the Game Manager was saved.. The wheel images reverted again.  This leaves me with two questions:

1. Is there a way to save changes without exiting the Game Manager?

2. Any ideas how to deal with the wheel image issue?

Thank you for any assistance!

Been a while since i've used game manager but i thought media imports happened in real time. Do you have any trace of the new wheel images in your Pinballx\media\databasename\wheel images folder (maybe you have two wheel images for the same table one named as the table name and one as the table description)?

I'm biased, but things are a little more obvious if you use database manager, your choice though! ;)

You’re right!  They do happen in real time.  I did find the problem though.  See attached image.  When I select an alternate image, it updates in Game Manager, but when I reload, it reverts to the previous one.  I’m guessing it’s because they are the exact same name, except for the extension.  When I reload, Game Manager must have a preference over .png files over .gif

There is an affinity for .png over .gif or .jpg. I belive there is also one for video - .mp4 over .avi but don't hold me to it. I tend to use .png and .mp4 files mostly anyways.

Databasemanager will check during input the exrension as well, and will remove the previous media file

And @Draco1962is right about the affinity about file extensions,

for images the apng goes above the png as well.

I think this is the list where the top one take precedence

.FLV

  • MrGrynch changed the title to [Resolved] Game Manager Not Saving All Info

No NO No.
It is not to force you to DBM.
Game List manager is a good tool and Tom did a good job as well.
But some options caused me issues in the past and to fix that, we decided to make our own tool and make it available for the community as well.

I was just messing around.. I had said something in a previous post about wanting to give it a try.  I was too overwhelmed by everything I didn't know in the beginning to step outside of the provided tools.  Now I am a bit more comfortable and I am finding the Game Manager a bit klunky to use, and I like the look of DBManager, so I'm going to give it a try.
