[RESOLVED] Help pinballx/gamex issue

Hello, 

I just renewed my subscription for gamex to download the media files for me so I don’t have to search but I’m having an issue with pinball wizard…. 
 

when I type in my password it doesn’t save I can make changes to other inputs and it saves, I’m using the older pinball wizard from 2021. I was able to do this before when I first downloaded my tables now I’m back on my machine and can’t access the import online option now. Not sure what to do. 

(Files are in the right place as I have set up 25 tables already)

I don't umderstand what you mean with this.

If you want to download media from GameEx ftp, you need to use an ftp program like filezilla.

Or you can use settings.exe to add your online acount and use it with gamemanager.exe 

Or you can use Databasemanager,  fill in your account in settings -> gameex and download the media.

When I use the set up wizard and put my user and pass in gamex online I then go to pinball x game manager and try to import dmd, wheel, play field, audio, etc online so I don’t have to do it one at a time. Nothing happens, I then go back to setup wizard and my password now has a bunch of extra dots more then what I entered it’s weird.

I think thats because your password is encrypted.

Try using database manager. It has a test function and an easy to use interface for downloading as well

Mike what do you mean by encrypted? used to do it this way so Idunno why it would be encrypted. Is the data base manager on the setup wizard? I’m not used to it the way I used to do it was just importing online from the pinball x manager.

Your password will not be saved in plain text, but will be encrypted saved be saved in the registry.  Thats maybe causing the extra dots. Just an assumption.

Database manager is a 3rd party tool, and can be downloaded in the download section.

My guy I will check it out tmw so it’s compatible with pinball manager right? Do you have any other videos I can watch on it?

It is 100% compatible, but DBM adds extra fields like, date added, date modified nd a bunch other fields. If you edit your file in gamemanager, you will loose these extra fields and values .

I think Tom is busy to modify PBX and  Gamemanager to not delete these fields as well, but that takes some time.

We don't have a lot of videos as we just started with the YT channel, but the support page contains a lot of info and tips and tricks

I got it downloaded bro got everything green like how it is in the video you sent me but my dmd is not showing on my setup. Anything I can look at?

Yes, post your pinballx.ini and your log.txt file, so we can see what your setup is.

Also post your databasemanager.log. 

My assumption is that you have pinmame in frontend enabled

Can you also post your pinballx log file ? Schould be in the log dir

 

Do you have a real dmd or a screen as dmd ?

If not, is this the correct location and size?

As I'm using a real dmd, I dont know how a virtual dmd must be setup

im using a screen as a dmd just a 8" monitor, yes those are the right sizes. the other tables i downloaded before dmd works fine.. so far no luck with the program.

So, dmd is working in pinballx, but some that you download doesn't work in pinballx ?

Example, I just downloaded a table Arabian nights vpx I used the data manager because I can’t find any of the files on the setup wizard. The data manger is all green saying I have a back glass sound etc. I load the table I have no dmd showing on the screen it’s just black.

Did you install lav codecs ?

Databasemanager is using same ftp source as gamemanager, only via another API.

If dbm shows green, it has a matching video. If pbx is not showing, it is mostly the lav codecs

@Rpags7474Not sure if you resolved this issue, but make sure you use your email address instead of user name to access the the FTP
