Finally got the upgrade to the control panel done!  I still need to put on some hinges for easier access to the wiring and what not, but she’s playable.  Played some PacMan, Rampage and Ninja Turtles with my daughters.  Hoping they soon get into NBA Jam, but I’m not sure it’s gonna happen.

My next move is to download LEDBlinky and start figuring all that out.  I can’t wait to have the buttons light up that are playable within the game.  It’s gonna be so much easier for the girls to play.

Ok.  I clearly don’t know what I’m doing posting a video.  I tried to edit it and posted some pictures too.  Who knows.

Lol it's all good! Since you are going down the LEDBlinky route, have you looked into Pixelcade? Not sure if the sizes available would fit your marquee. Besides displaying a digital marquee image, the LEDBlinky software supports displaying Hi Scores in a scroll.

Yes.  I want either a Pixelcade or a lcd marquee.  The pixelcade works, but it would be about 3" of dead space on each side.  I can make that a work.  I like the more realistic look of the lcd marquees though.

Looks really good, I bet it's cool while in action!  Who could forget your monster size machine that only barely fit through the door :D

Can you upload them to youtube, or just rather not?

Hadn’t thought of uploading to YouTube.  I’ll have to get that going at some point.  It can’t fit through any doors if the panel is attached.  If I take the panel off, it slides through a standard sized door like a hot knife through butter baby.  Haha

I had considered the LCD Marquee but opted for the DMD look instead.

So, how do you like the pixelcade?  Does it have all the marquees you’d want it to have?

If I  went the LCD route, I’d get it from somewhere else, like Paradox Arcades.  They’d sell a base LCD for like $500.  The pixelcade LCD is pretty bonkers price wise.

It has most of the marquees. Since you are limiting the palette it takes a bit of manipulation to get the marquees looking good. I find if you use the logo files instead of an actual marguee the result is much better. I was fortunate in that I had an earlier unit provided to me as I was alpha/beta testing for implementation with GameEx in addtion to the LEDBlinky integration. I did come out of pocket for the "smoked" acrylic cover and standoffs (the LEDs are very bright without something to dim them down).
