[RESOLVED] pinballx crashes with ExceptionInnerException HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG in logfile, Pinballx Version 4.67 x64

Dear forum/creators,

After a Windows 10 update PinballX does not start anymore with the following error (sorry for it being dutch language), logfile content:

Before everything has worked fine for months; I only use Visual Pinball X tables;, Pinupop stuff only installed for stranger things, furthermore mostly standard tables, no exotic setup. just 2 screens and KZ25z board for feedback and zero delay board for buttons, all work fine when staring visual pinball directly, so only the pinballx menu system is not working anymore

What can this be, please give me a hint,

PS for the people that do not know me, I'am Matthijs from Amsterdam, and in the attachment you'll find a picture of my 2/3rd sized cab with a 32 inch screen for playfield and 4:3 20 inch for the backscreen. It is sellf build, from MDF.

I think you can probably guess what i'm going to suggest....   upgrade to latest version of PinballX!!  https://forums.gameex.com/forums/files/file/527-pinballx/

If you still have the issues after that then please attach a new log file and a copy of your pinballx.ini file too.

Thanks, I reinstalled pinballx (latest version)into the same directory, it now starts up again.. but all settings and tables are lost. with settings exe I configured the path, but still no tables.. I will give it a try in a few days as I have to leave for a few days now. Thanks for your help so far.

Thanks again for the tip.. Somehow, after I ran the light version of pinballx, and after that the normal version it starts up again!!... whooo.. almost working as expected, only backglass seems not to be correct resolution, I remember changing it in an ascii file somewhere to the correct resolution but I forgot... ;-) if someone knows... please let me know.. so I got back all my tables. The PinballX menu shows fine... but the backglass aspect ratio/resolution is not correct, after starting a table... see picture attachment

Please attach copies of your pinballx.ini and log.txt files (no copy and paste) in response to this thread.

Also, knowing your backglass resolution might be of help.

Is the resolution of the backglass only different in visual pinball, or also other emulators ?

Is the backglass the wrong ratio in PinballX too?.   Sounds like screenres.txt file (in VP\Tables folder) for VP, that might have changed if autoconfigure is set in PinballX for VP (ini file will show that). Not sure why it would change in an update though.

 @mgslisser Might be worth attaching the screenres.txt file too and letting us know what your backglass screen resolution is

Hi all, indeed it was screenres.txt! Changed the backglass res. to 1280x1024 and it works!.. I did not look there because I did not expect this file to have changed as it is not part of PinballX install dir.

There is an option to auto position b2s from pinballx. Check your settings if that is set to disabled
