stigzler
After all these years, I feel like a noob asking this question! My recent visit to an arcade ignited a passion to get Tempest up and running on my machine. I've got mame 0.198 installed and the associated 0.198(split) set. I've re-run the GameEx Refresh Mame List, but I can't find Tempest in my games list. In settings, I've got Only Working and Allow Imperfect (terms from memory) ticked. Are there any logs to explore why Tempest isn't included in the final list? Attached my GameEx.ini GameEx.ini
tthurman
Some suggestions, since it’s been a while and I recall you indicating you smoked your motherboard. Did you update? Add the game to the “Do not filter these roms” list? Use the “vector games” feature within GameEx?
stigzler
Cheers t. Since the OP, have done some experiments. Nothing to do with the hardware - all's good. I followed a previous post (can't find link on this client pc) and did the following: Set Verify Roms to True Set Only Existing Roms to False Disabled touchscreen I've attached the log from this (all seems well on initial glance apart from an exception following processing NPlayers.ini) This didn't solve the problem. So I reversed 1 and 2 back and then added "tempest" and "tempest3" to the 'Do not filter these roms' list. That worked. However, it's left me worrying that the gameslist routine is missing roms. If I wasn't specifically looking for Tempest, I wouldn't have known it's not there. Anyone any idea what's going on with this? log.txt
Draco1962
Have you considered updating to a more recent version of MAME? I seem to recall running into issues with v0.198 that resolved with an upgrade of my MAME version and ROM set.

stigzler
Thanks, Tom. I'll give this a proper test later on. I should have thought of testing that, soz.
