These are still going 9 years strong in my arcade cabinet! (Closest/most similar model I could find to what I've had.)

I'd like to check these out though - wonder how they sound:

CA's have just been good to me. :)

There are lots of nice speakers out there and I have a terrible problem resisting them, but this set here is among the best sounding PC speakers I've ever heard.

I bought these originally in November of 2000, and during this time Altec Lansing and Yamaha made some really 2.1 multi-media sets.  Since then I had a set of Z-680's  and a set of Z-5500's that ultimately had the control pod fail, but I eventually ended up back to these.  I came to the conclusion that a good 2.1 setup actually sounds better in the near field environment.  I don't mean this to seem like some audiophile review, these things just flat out rock, you can feel them!

I've since picked up two more of these setups from ebay for front and rear on my build project, and with a few dampening mods using duct seal, they sound even better.  This mod isn't needed to make them sound good out of the box, but it does remove a bit of the resonating inherit to the plastic the satellite cabinets are made from.

To see a set in this good of shape at this price is unusual, to say the least.

The only speaker I've found that tops them is even more rare, the YST-M100.

These are sitting in front of me now with no sub, and the sound can not be pinpointed, instead it's just a wall of sound.
