scutters
Testing a few apng wheel images in pinballX (mainly only 2 frame apngs if that matters), scrolling the wheel... PinballX can crash out after a while, no pattern to it that i've seen. Happened a couple of times. I do also have apng company logos but not seen the problem before with only those in use (but i have also only just updated to 4.80 from 4.79) Error in log attached. Let me know if you need more info.. PinballX.ini log.txt
Tom Speirs
I think its running out of memory. Should not be specific to 4.80 though. In the meantime running 64 bit PinballX will likely help.
scutters
That's bad news (for me) - i think i still have the 64 bit issue on the cab for PinballX, https://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/23122-pinballx-362-64bit/ Darn...
Tom Speirs
When did you last try it? It may not cause a crash in more recent versions due to pinballx.exe.config file.
scutters
Still the same badformat error with 4.80 x64 unfortunately (one day i'll reload windows, honest, it's only been a year! ) Will see if reducing apng wheel frame sizes in the 32bit version helps for now.. Mike_da_Spike
You dont have an old disk where you can test windows on it and install pinballx 64 bit ?

Tom Speirs
xdmd.dll is probably installed into the assembly cache so that's why but I never see anyone have this issue other than you.

That's because i'm special! Good news is not seen any more crashes with smaller image frames in the apngs under 4.80 32bit. Might just be being lucky at the moment rather than anything else though. scutters
Still running 32bit and still not seen any more crashes like the first post, i did get a different issue and apng error where pinballx hung and i had to kill it (only happened once). Might still be 32bit related, don't know. Posting the log for reference just in case. log.txt
scutters
Just tried 4.81, still get the occasional PinballX hang (where i need to kill it) when using multiple apng wheel images. I know a fix wasn't mentioned in the release note, but i was hoping! As you can see from the log, no games launched at any time, just scrolling round the wheel. No pattern to when it happens that i can see. log.txt
Tom Speirs
Can you please provide the images and I will try and replicate. Thanks.
scutters
Can do. I'll get a job lot built that had that cropping issue too.. maybe i'll get a 2 for 1 fix!

scutters
Yeah, spot on Mike.. Tom does a great job! Tom - can you send me a database xml for your tests?, then i can tailor the test apng wheels to it so you can just drag them across.
Tom Speirs
Thanks fellas. These are my current database used in my debug version. Cheers. Tom. Databases.zip
scutters
Here you go Tom hot off the press, test wheels for your VP database. File names use table names not description. I've used your db and confirmed the cropping still occurs with these, and if you scroll left and right for a while 4.81 32bit will eventually give the error in the log and hang. I am also using animated company logos but haven't seen the hang problem using just those. If you think it's the related to the file size, compression or number of frames then i can have a rethink (or maybe that idea to have an option in PinballX to only animate the wheel for the selected table would help, dunno..) Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks mate! 2030459074_testvpwheels.zip
scutters
Hi Tom, not seen any more crashes in my tests with v4.84 - not sure if you fixed it when changing the png/apng file extensions or if i just haven't tested long enough yet, but i'm pretty sure it's working now. I'll report back if i do see a crash in the next day or two, otherwise this can be closed off. (still get the apng wheel image cropping mentioned in another thread in v4.84 though - https://forums.gameex.com/forums/topic/25480-heads-up-apng-support-incoming/?do=findComment&comment=199984)

Draco1962
@scutters should I combine this thread with the one you referenced for the cropping or close this thread once you are satisfied that there's no further issue and let Tom address the cropping in the referenced thread? I think they're two different issues (that just happen to be apng related), so i'd leave them split. Should be able to close this one off soon
