Cince i've installed my new 4K television for my cabinet, sinds then Pinballx loses his sounds.

I have a startup video who sounds perfect the first 3 seconds and then has a "hickup"' for a second.

When the startup video is finiches and the tables are shown, none has backgroud sounds in Pinball x. if i start the tables allis fine.

When closing pinball x, there are no select and exit sounds.

In reare occasions the "hickup" isn't there and meracilusly all tablesound are back!

as attachment my pinballx.ini file,

My apologies for my bad englisch, it's not my native language.

HI Ruud,

This happens after you change your playfield to a new TV ?
Is maybe the sound trying to play trough the TV right now ?
If Toms trick doesn't work (installing the LAV codecs from the pinballX website), try to check if the sound is playing trough your TV (and check windows if you can disable this)

I windows 10, go to sounds and click on 'Managed sounds' (or if you have a Dutch language 'Geluidsapparaten beheren')

You see all the sound devices
Select your TV device and select disable ('uitschakelen')
Mine are already disabled

LAV codecs are installed. Sound is going to the tv, but that’s the same as the previous setting with the monitor. I don’t have speakers (yet). As I change the setting to the Realtek soundcard, all sound is gone.

Realtek sound goes to your speaker jack for external so no speakers connected = no sound.

For the sound going to your TV, is the TV used as your playfield or backglass?  If going to the backglass, try switching to the one used for the playfield.

Also, another possible non-programatic cause could be a lose or bad HDMI cable. Even if brand new, I've encountered bad cables from even the best rated companies. If you are reusing existing cables on hand at the time of your build, buy new.

Draco, thanks for the reaction.

TV is the playfield, tried another cable, but that didn't change. sometimes sound is perfect, sometimes it stops after 1-2 sec.

Is the new TV the default audio device in windows? (settings->sound->sound control panel), I'd disable any devices not in use at the moment in sound control panel too (and revisit to renable when you get the speakers)

If still no joy maybe try a different hdmi port on the tv?

Scutters, thanks for youre advice.

TV is the default audio device and is the only one active in windows.

I set the other screen as default audio device, and all is good. (But thats a tiny little screen with squeeky sound)

I tried to set the sound options different at the new tv, and when i turn OFF all sound options (Dolby Atmos, surround sound...ALL) i still have USUALLY no sound.

I thought  it was somewhere in the settings of the tv. i'll keep them off, but the problem persists.

attached are 2 video's, one when the soud is ok, one with the "hickup" and no sound. all recorded within 1 minute from eachother.

I just start Pinball X, nothing more, nothing less.....

Did you try different USB ports?

If the issue is not encountered on the backglass or the prior monitor this would point to an incompatiblity with the Panasonic for its intended purpose. Is it possible that one or more smart features may be trying take place?

Have you noted the date/time the error occurs and reviewed the Windows Event Viewer to see if anything shows there?

Posted

Draco,

Good question! i have no idea where to look for in the event viewer. never worked with it.

There are some warnings and an occasional error, but i can't determine if its from the foult we are looking for.

Can you tell me where to look in the event viewer for my problem? then i'll keep an eye on it.

Click the search bar next to Windows start anf type Event Viewer.

Look in the applications section for the approximate date & time for any warnings or error messages close to that time of the event occurring. No guarantees that you will find anything and it takes use to build experience on how to interpret results in combination with googling the error messages.

Draco,

found something.

Whjen checking the event viewer after starting pinball x this error occours:

"Het ophalen van de status van AppModel Runtime voor het pakket Windows is mislukt met 0x57". (It's dutch,i know...)

Googled it and i get here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/failed-with-0x490-modifying-appmodel-runtime/645417d9-94f4-4f43-9e71-6f9c60bbbc7f

Maybe you can make somting out of it?

Thanks in advance,

Ruud.

Could be a false positive, however, what should be looked for is not errors at startup of PinballX but the date/time of an actual sound hiccup event.

Would try it again after a restart then check Event Viewer, then try it again with sound selected for the backglass monitor and check Event Viewer.

Draco,

I can't seem to pinpoint the problem. even on my headphone the sound is perfect.

in the future there will be speakers and a amplifier, because i'm building it in a cabinet.

i hope the problem is gone then.

Thank you for youre support and if there is a moment when i found the problem, i'll sure post it here.

Headphones will be a different connection than your monitors, so this still seems to point to the playfield monitor connection as the fault.

Likely this will not be an issue once you hook up your external speakers.

Update:

I get this error when i play a music file (mp3).

After 2 seconds the music stops and the message appears.
